Ooh it was windy.
Out first choice of pitch, a small summit overlooking the Anglo-Scottish border was so wind-scoured we didn't fancy staying the night there at all- as was our second choice, a Scottish Hillfort
The weather forced us to seek shelter right on the boundary between England and Scotland, two once warring nations, now fairly friendly.
We hopped from one country to the next before deciding to pitch right on the border.
One foot in England and one in Scotland
I tried out my new tent, the Fjern Gokkota and found it quite nice.
Accompanied by the semi-legendary ‪@northumberlandmountainhopper‬ the man who will bivvy in any conditions.

Looks like a canny tent, similar set up to the MSR. Sick of the wind now good you two found a sheltered spot 😊

Yup, from what folk have said I believe the Fjern is very much ‘inspired’ by MSR. I was sort of grateful for the wind in the end as it motivated us to hunt for a sheltered spot and I was happy to find that pitch- one to go back to. Thanks Kerry, ATB, Graham 👍

Nice one Graham , always great to have stone wall to shelter behind. New shelter is very similar to the MSR hubba , I have never had issues with pitching inner first 👍 glad I’m not the only one who has weird dreams , normally I have hands coming through the tent walls strangling me 😂 TFS atb Dave

Even when I'm asleep in the tent my brain seems to realise where it is and I get very weird camping related dreams! I'm not familiar with MSR tents but a couple of people have pointed out the similarity, it might be a clone, Shaping up to be a good tent though, ATB, Graham 👍

I've been looking at these Fjern tents Graham. Look great value from sport pursuit. Fancy the 2 man though. That chop looked pretty good too!

Morning Graham. Loved this video. Its a beautiful place to camp isnt it. Your new tent looks very nice inded, and light too. That barnsley chop 😮😮😮wish i had tastovision 😂. You always cook up such delicious food. Eccles cairn, now when I did my video on the kirk yetholm gypsies i read somewhere that eccles cairn is a burial cairn for a prehistoric chieftan. But thats all i could find out. Another cracking video there. Thanks for taking us along 😊

Thank you, we were glad we found such a nice spot- had great views to Kirk Yetholm. It was the wind that led us there, just to get off the tops. I enjoyed your video on the Yethom gypsies, was excellent. I didn't know that about the cairn, seems that history is all around us in the hills, love it. TFW Emz 👍👍👍

so nice to see camping and hiking in other regions, pretty cool to camp by a wall like that, a bit of wind, yummy food, sorry but the dream was funny, 😂I think you may need to switch back to tea time instead of the drink can, love the history talk, glad came across your video, liked and new sub.

Thank you very much, I love that area, the Cheviot Hills and the border runs straight through it. I always try and find out a bit of the history where I wild sleep, I find it adds a bit of interest for me. Nice one Graham -absolutely loved your beer review 😂😂 Sometimes it's best to opt for a sheltered pitch when the winds are up like that, even if you lose the views, and that wall looked ideal - and it made for a good looking pitch for your new Gokotta's first outing, just a shame the ground was all lumpy. Another good watch TFS, atb from DVS :)

Thanks Donna, I’m almost glad the wind was blowing a hoolie because it led us to seek a more sheltered pitch and we found a great spot with fine views into Scotland. I think it’s one I’ll go back to. There’s not many beers taste of moonbeams and parsnips- I must have chosen a good one 😂 I’m quite liking the tent but time will tell, TFW! 👍👍

Aye, thanks Jimmy. that wind was uncampable in my opinion, would have been a nightmare on the tops- I don't know how people do that and enjoy it, In the end we found a great spot, pretty untouched, no quad tracks or anything. Definately go back there, ATB, Graham 👍👍

I bought it- I’m too small a channel to be sent tents 🙂 I’m liking it so far, it seems to be an MSR clone but I’ve barely used it. Time will tell. ATB, Graham
