We have come to the Peak District National Park wild camping to take on the Mam Tor and The Great Ridge hiking trail. We started our backpacking trip from Castleton, hiked up through Cave Dale and past Peveril Castle on the plateau. From there we backpacked across to Mam Tor where we reach a very busy summit. From there the hiking route took us across The Great Ridge, past Back Tor and onto Lose Hill where we descended to Hope. Before our wild camp we has a quick beer before backpacking our way across back to Castleton.
We stopped for a very late lunch and a few ales before grabbing the backpacking bags and making our way back up to our wild camp spot. When pitched our tents with a great view of Winnats Pass, Mam Tor and Castleton. It was a great location for wild camping.

Looks like a great trip. I've been trying to convince myself to get some Vidda Pro trousers for a while now, so thanks for the mini-review. Love that pitch! Excellent video again. ATB.

Andy - I’ve been using “contact coffee bags” they do ground coffee too but the bags are so easy for camping and don’t lose any flavour. Run by ex military guys they donate some of their profit to military vets. Great cause and great coffee. I’d highly recommend you try them and support a good cause too.

Who thought sheep in the dark could be so scary! Great video Andy. Showing the map is a great touch to give the visual of where you are and where you are going.

Hey mate, another brilliant vid, Really interested in picking your brain regarding the tent, how does it hold up in the strong winds , the condensation, and the side with the smaller vestibule, how is it for the outer touching the inner in wintery conditions I’ve watched your in depth review on this and keep going back to it to compare with other tents I’m looking to purchase
@BackpackingUK
@BackpackingUK Год назад
The Pioneer 2? If so, Mark actually prefers it to the Southern Cross 2. He like having his gear in his tent whereas I prefer using the vestibules. Both are great tents. The fabric can be a little flappy but it’s not noisy.

Cheers for the reply mate Great help, I currently use the laser comp 2 which I actually love, looked at the Akto but your review cleared up that it’s not for me size wise Whittled it down to pioneer, sc 2 and now leaning towards Fjällräven Abisko 2 perhaps 3 Looking forward to ya next vids mate

Great video. How cold did it get overnight? Looking to buy the same Fjallraven trousers this weekend, would you recommend over ME Ibex pro?
@BackpackingUK
@BackpackingUK Год назад
The Vidda Pro’s are better for general toughness and weather resistance. The Ibex Pro’s are better in slightly warmer conditions and are slightly more comfortable too and they have ventilation zips.
