Most people visit Copenhagen and I would say you should, but also travel around North Jutland. If you love nature, food, history and going off the beaten track, you've got to check this place out!
I share more than my experience, I also give you ideas for other places in the area. It would be a perfect place for van life, surfing and cycling!

As a dane I love to see videos from Denmark that are not from Nyhavn, København, with ridiculously expensive modern smørrebrød. Because Denmark is so much more. The travelling dune, Grenen at Skagen with the two oceans meeting, the lighthouse at Rugbjerg Knude. All in the northern part of Jylland/Jutland. City of Aarhus, especially the three museums ARoS, Den Gamle By/The Old Town and Moesgaard. The entire coastline of jutland to the West, the beautiful islands in the southern part of Denmark. So much to see outside Copenhagen.

Actually Carlsberg is the second, or third largest Brewery Group in the World! And the reason why you are able to buy a "decent beer", as the Yeast used for Brewing became cleaned and - Patented for Industrial/common Use in The Carlsberg Laboratories in Copenhagen!! It then became "Donated to the World" for all Brewers to use and it is still named "Carlsbergensis"!!!

I loved this. I live in Aalborg, but I'm from Sæby, midway between Aalborg and Skagen. So it was really fun seeing you experience the places I call home.. Now having watched some more of your vids, do me a favor.. If you come back to Scandinavia, go visit Bornholm.. Its a Danish island of the coast southern coast of Sweden. It has the most amazing nature Denmark has to offer outside Greenland and the Faroe islands.. Its incredibly beautiful and a very unique culture.. I think you would absolutly LOVE it!

If you ever come back to Skagen, the sandy church is only a 10-minute bike ride from town, and bike rental is available cheaply right next to the train station. Also, if you walk all the way to the top of Jutland (just a little further out), you'll notice the two oceans, The North Sea and Kattegat, clashing together. Another cool place worth visiting if you're up there is Råbjerg Mile, albeit a little harder to reach by public transport.

"When you think of Denmark, you probably don't think of sand dunes and beaches". It is so interesting to hear this angle. To a Dane it is mindblowing to hear. Something tells me that Denmark needs to market itself much more on this front. Except for the Germans, the Dutch, the Swedes and the Norwegians nobody seems to be aware that we are the number one beach destination in northern Europe. Sand beaches is literally all we have along our coasts, since the Danish geology is so sedimentary. We have 60.000.000 overnight stays at Danish beaches a year. But I have talked to people from places as close as Czechia and Austria who had absolutely no idea. Something must be done (this is probably the reason why I write it here 🙂).

The sand beach you are at, are the longest sand beach on the entire European continent. Goes from top of Skagen almost all the way to the German border where the Unesco world heritage "vadehavet" meets it. A lowwater sandy area with (dangerous if you are not careful when they come) tides, that have a unique aquatic wildlife and are home and resting stop for millions of different migration birds. At certain times a year you can find thousand upon thousand of starlings performing their "before go to bed" ritual called dark sun, because they act in unique patterns in the sky almost blacking the sky, with their dance in the sky, that truly are a sight to behold.

There aren't many places that gives you the possebility of having your legs in different seas! But at Grenen, North of Skagen you can stand perfectly natural, with one leg in Kattegat and the other leg in Skagerak. And if you can't feel the difference, trust me, you can TASTE the diffenrence between the salty North Sea and the "brak water" from the Baltic! Peace and love

I'm glad that more and more people want to travel to Denmark, but I'm also sad that most never get to see anything else than Copenhagen. Don't get me wrong, I love Copenhagen, but when I think of Denmark I think of nature, rolling hills, beaches, fishing ports, and the sea, as much as our coloured brick stone buildings. So thank you for showing everyone, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 4:09 People probably tell you things because you're a lone traveler, and your natural curiosity makes you look approachable, whereas others are drowning in their mobile phones as soon as they sit down. It happens to me as well, I think because people are looking for eye contact and someone who doesn't look scary lol Scandinavians aren't cold people, we're just reserved people - something we share with Japanese culture - but as soon as you ask us a question we're more than happy to help. I guess you can compare Danes to Hobbits in many ways, we seem distant when you travel through, but if you get inside the inner circle we're the exact opposite. It was also a culture shock for me to visit America, because it felt like people were almost overly friendly, when I really just wanted to find my own way or eat my food in peace lol

Also, it's not uncommon that royal families who no longer reign retain the use of their titles. For example, Queen Ingrid, the mother of Queen Margrethe II, retained her title even after her husband King Christian X died, even if she was never a reigning monarch. Or Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, who keeps using her title after she and her husband were forcibly dethroned by the military junta, and exiled in 1974. Whether or not the title is recognized in the country in question is really not all that relevant.
