My mother loved this song. She died unexpectedly in her sleep. After the funeral my brother, his family and mine drove up to the Grand Canyon to scatter her ashes after we were done and started to drive out of the park my wife says "We should have played her favorite song as you guys scattered her ashes, what was it? Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones I replied. We had some small talk for a few minutes then she turned on the radio and Wild horses started to play. Me, my wife and our two teenagers started to sob uncontrollably so much so that I had to pull over. My brother who was following in the car behind us must have thought that I wanted to say something so he pulls up next to my vehicle rolls down his passenger window but before he could say a word I just turned the radio up. I'll never forget the look of pure anguish he had, You've never seen two grown men cry as hard as we did.We all felt her in that moment she was saying good bye.

Probably my favorite song; makes me both happy and sad.

My brother, Colm's favourite song. He used to play it and sing it all the time. Seems strangely poignant now. But the feeling is good. I'll always remember him whenever I hear this tune. Thanks uploader!

This song reminds me of my mom, who loved it. She died on March 27th, 2023 of heart failure alone in her bed. We didn't expect it at all. She hadn't told us that her aorta was 90% clogged. Seein all the comments here it’s quite sad. Imagine having the talent to write a song so iconic like this one. I think it’s best in life to not let things get to deep into your soul. I remember having the same worries at 20 that I have now at 45,and always thinking next year things will be different but really it’s just the same nonsense as the year before.

When I went through grad school at the age of 35, I sealed myself off from everyone while I focused on research. Well, my sister introduced me to one of her younger friends when I was near the end (I was 39 yrs old at the time) and the girl was 23. We hit it off the first night and for the next week spent every night and day together. It was a real whirlwind romance. On the last day I cleaned my vehicle spotless and that night I took her to New Orleans (1.5 hours away). We stayed until about 3 or 4 AM. On the way back I played this. The next morning she got up early and left and drove home (6 hours away). When I tried to call she wouldn't answer. Finally I got her on the line and told her all I wanted was to make sure she had gotten home. For her I was just a hookup and I realized it and man how that stung. After that I was tore up for about 6 months. There's a picture of me, my sister, her, and another friend and it's the night I ran into her after we went our separate ways and just couldn't take the sight of her. Boy she tore my heart out. In the picture I have this look of hurt as I was looking at her. You know how it is when you had something with someone and you just have to see them one more time to look in their eyes to see if those feelings really are gone. Well that was me and they were. Later on I laughed with my buddies wife, told her I was going through a mid life crisis. A few years later I saw that same girl working in a restaurant. By then I was soon to be a professor. She apologized for the way she acted. It was all cool. I didn't feel any animosity. I knew how she felt, even if she was embarrassed she felt that way for someone old enough to have been her dad. I had a great week of my life with a beautiful girl. You win some you lose some.
