Todd, I was born there but I just couldn't afford everything as you both do. It spends whole lot of green to take me to get there but I was so fortune to have you to get the nice videos and everything that I needed and I deserved to me. Unfortunately my feet didn't touch the beautiful places that your camera has captured. My dreams were always travel place to place but it will not be happening also everything is too expensive and it takes too much money to be like you Todd. Mucha gracias por tu bueno videos.
Hiya, Todd. I've been hitting the thumbs-up button as soon as the page loads. I remember you saying that somehow it helps the YT algorithm. Hope it helps! ; ) Hey!, NeeNee! ; )
That photo of the old guy sat down in the old part is an absolute belter - Nat Geo stuff there mate. Well done on asking him if it was ok to take it - terrific montage of a fascinating place - and I could smell the food at the end. Huge thumbs up.
All of your videos make me want to go back to Laos, but this one especially makes me feel that way. My dad is from Savannakhet and my mom is Vietnamese but was born in Vientiane. Neither of them know much about this place. I really want to visit with them
No kidding top of the world! That is North! I am amazed how big of a city. Agree with Nee Nee, Looks like China or Vietnam. Todd, I am always amazed at your work. I can feel Lao.
The CIA had a remote tracking facility on the mountain northeast of the village. Today, there is a Bed and Breakfast located there, just north of the picnic area. To the southeast of the picnic area, is a concrete slab that was the foundation of the radar antenna. There was also a CIA facility near Khun Suk.
The former neutralist Kong Le had a compound in the center of the old village. There is a small plaque with his name on it located at his old house. I think there is a automotive repair shop there now.
Hi Guys Back connected to the net after a few days out in the bush. Nice catchup today at the restaurant good food for thought for me. The tractor was really cool as that would not have been easy to change hand controls to foot ones. Was the house with the thick walls some type of mud construction or did it have a concrete shell on it. The roads in the old quarter remind me of how the Romans built their roads, as well as the roads on Canal street (at the south end of Manhattan). Great aerial footage, I wonder if the locals realize a unique part of the world they live in?
Hey brother,,old town Phonsaly is the top of the heap! Unbelievably awesome place. Food looked delish. Those little kids were proud to be able to practice their English on a real live farang. " sit down,,stand up " lol cute as can be. Ttyl,,,Marlon
Thanks, another great video, only found your channel a few days ago, bingeing on it now😁 love it. I am watching in reverse order, when I get to the end I will watch again in the right order, lol. Thanks to you both.
Interesting Architecture for Phongsali. Again, the drone shots are stunning. A fascinating tour of the side alleys of a very interesting town . Thank you for this wonderful tour, Todd. Best Wishes from Jim and Harriet. Richmond, Va.🙏❤🙏
A very intriguing place 😯 the homes and buildings have a unique look and feel 👌 drone shots show a cosy and neat place . the old town stones are very well constructed 🍻😃👋🙏
Love the cool old tractors. Can you interview some folks who use them to learn more about them? They all look different. Are they home built? Where did the design come from? Thanks Todd and Neenee! Have a lovely day!
Wonderful video! I just happened upon your video as I am planning a trip to Laos late this year or early next year, and am looking at doing the Phongsali Loop (6D/5N) as a private tour through a travel agency I had used for the northern and northwestern of Vietnam. The scenery, architecture, topography and vibe of Phongsali reminds me a lot of Sapa and Bac Ha in Vietnam’s Lao Cai province, with the hill-tribes encountered being mainly the Black Hmong, Flower Hmong and Red D’zao. I had encountered Karen, White (or Green?) Hmong and Akha in northern Thailand, but are looking forward to experiencing more of the Akha culture around Phongsali, of which I recall includes the Blue Akha subgroup. I’m also planning on a 4D/3N tour of Luang Prabang and still need to select an itinerary of about 4D/3N for southern Laos (Plain of Jars?). I look forward to watching your other videos. Cheers!
Whoa! , another really great video Todd.. start to finish...thank you for all the work it must take to produce and edit. like..like..like.. 👍 That drone footage is really interesting at the beginning and must be helpful to scope out a path before walking around. Did you say that the old town area dates back around 400 years? Do you know if China ever controlled that land area back then? The black and white photo montages at the end of your recent videos is such a great way to summarize the content 👌. The images in this one were all freaking gallery worthy compositions! Thanks again, really appreciate it 🙏 , Rick
Some beautiful homes amongst the historic areas. A lot of similar architecture to today's in the old village area. Cultural and traditional I'd gather. Both of you in beanies is unusual Todd .. lol. Thanks for tour and what a great place you found to stay. Bushyboy Oz.
Todd, can you give us musical credits for the artists performing background music for your videos? They are excellent selections, and I would enjoy hearing more of their music. We took the Mekong River cruise to Luang Prabang and spent a night in Pak Beng. Your videos take us back to our extended visit to Laos. Thank you from Tampa, Florida
13:37 That's a big problem with taking photos of Lao people: they like to pose! Frame the shot and before you know it they crook their faces between between thumb and index finger, uttering "Take me! Take me! I am so beautiful!" It's a war of attrition - eventually you can get very good candid poses. (OK - they're checking on Facebook...) Great drone shots, map and stills der! sok dii
Hi Todd and Neenee, hope you're both doing well? Was really interested in the homes that were empty and was wondering if it might be possible to rent them long term, do you know where I could find that information? Many thanks and loving the videos as always.
Hey.. sorry I don't, but a starting point would be to call The Amazing Villa guesthouse, ( check the images.. phone number there ) that's the information center also, I'm sure they'll be able to point you in the right direction 👌😁 We still have more walking tours of the Old Town area to upload also.. so be sure to check them out. Cheers 👍
@@NowinLao thanks for the info, will give it a shot. By the way, I watch every video when it comes out, usually about midnight here in France 😉 Take it easy
@@NowinLao Todd, you're the legend, great banter, excellent videos, honest commentary and a great bloke from what I can see on the vids, you are the reason I watch. Keep them coming and I'll keep enjoying them.
Very, very cool. Thanks guys for taking us along with you on your adventures today. I love the drone footage and the black and white photos. Cheers brother, hi Neenee!!! 😘🥂😘🙏
