Things are changing rapidly at the weekend homestead! The weather is warming and the rain has started turn turn the woods green. It's time to start looking for wild spring edibles. Ramps, asparagus, nettles and mushrooms are some of the first delicious wild bounty of the season and in this video I take you with as I hunt for wild mushrooms. Black morels, yellow morels, and pheasant back AKA Dryads saddle are in the basket and on the menu. There are lots of fancy recipes for wild morel mushrooms but it's hard to beat simple sauteing in oil or butter.

Hi Tre. I left the hospital a week ago after a 3-week stay for pneumonia. I fell ill through my own fault. It turns out that at my age I have to have a lot of exercise and I spent most of my time on a couch. I was rescued from my predicament with invasive antibiotic treatment.I stayed at home for another week on antibiotics. Today I was on my first walk. You have no idea how weakened I am after this treatment, but full of hope that it will get better every day. Lots of health for you and the river.

That’s funny how the RD would not give it up. Always interesting to try and figure out what dogs are thinking. Must be nice to have your daughter home for summer

Hi Terry. Another interesting video on mushroom hunting. Love to see River Dog having a good time too. He’s a good pal to have around! 🍄🤗

Your amazing! Thank you so much for sharing!
@JonSewell
We found a bunch on a deer trail, they were everywhere and huge.
@Jsaul32
Morels grow really well in areas that have quite a bit of woody ground litter like that appeared to have. In Eastern Oregon, we would always look for them in areas that had seen wildfires a year or two before and they'd come up in huge patches there!

Terry, I think you'll be happy to learn that baby back ribs don't come from baby pigs. They're smaller and are cut from the back near the loin, whereas spare ribs are larger and are cut from the belly.
@Jazz1959
I use to go mushroom picking with my grandma. She knew where every kind was.

Yummy shrooms! Great looking dinner too. Laughed out loud on spooky story time! Hilarious! Way to go mowing down the mushrooms in your yard....whoops! Anyhow, cheers to you and Riverdog the rock eater from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
@paulpuckerinGM
Hey Tré, fantastic opening with RD, Ltd playing keep papa away from his new rock game. The mushroom foraging expertise is very informative and entertaining. (And tasty!) Suggestion - would you think about doing some shorts here and there in your uploading schedule? (I know you’ve done some, would be cool to get them in between your longer form vlogs.) Cheers, bud.

Wild places… and wild food 🙏🏼 ❤❤❤

Mushroom hunting is a skill. It takes time to learn which ones are edible. Yes, mosquitoes are a thing here in Minnesota, at least we haven't had the noise of the sequoia beetles, at least in our part of Minnesota. Have a great week!!
@januszlewicki5783
For breakfast, aromatic scrambled eggs with morels will be great.
@januszlewicki5783
You have made me hungry. I don't have morels, but I have chanterelles, porcini mushrooms and geese in the freezer. Tomorrow there will be a feast for dinner.
