Sorry I have to ask either put the distractions away or quit yelling at them. I can't handle listening to all the yelling and whistle blowing. All my animals are going crazy. Beautiful horse I would love to watch but only if all the noise stops. I'm pretty sure it is spooking the horse also.
@@RobinsFamilyHomestead Such an adult reply. You DO make them to please viewers. What you are after is never ending comments telling you what fabulous horse trainers you are, instead, you get a whiff of criticism, well earned, at that, and you reply with snark. You could have chosen to say something to this person, like "I know, there was so much happening at once, thanks for watching!" My personal reaction was complete cringe, watching you put everyone in danger by not locking the dogs away while all of this was going on, and letting them harass the horse, repeatedly. There are just so many potential areas, here, where you could have really gotten hurt, and children should not have been in the arena while that stallion was anywhere being started. There were some lovely things being done as well, and most certainly this horse has ended up in a good place, I hope for life, as I also hope you all consider safety to be more than just putting a helmet on.
I was very interested in watching you train this beautiful horse but the all of the chattering, whistling, etc just was too much distraction for me. If you ever do it again I would suggest you set the camera up and record no audio and then voice over for narrative. Thanks for sharing all the same.
I just had to chuckle when your dog at 5:40 gingerly steps over the hay and starts to eat a little bit of hay next to the horse, while the horse is eating. Like hmm, does this taste THAT good? Tries it for himself. Super cute, and wholesome. Love animals
@@RobinsFamilyHomestead It definitely looks like he does. I just love how the mustang isn't even bothered even so early on, that the dog is there. Just SO darn cute.
It's so incredible to see him put together the puzzle pieces in his mind. When he finally figures out what it is you want, his eyes completely light up! Gorgeous horse
Beautiful Mustang! Love your kind and empathetic methods. What an outstanding temperament, no big overreaction though that is probably due to your taking the time it takes.
Just found your channel. This is the first video I've watched of yours and, what an introduction! That is an awesome looking horse! Good job on the training!
What’s with the ridiculous whistling and why are the dogs allowed to run around and scare the horse? The horse has more than enough to worry about as it is.
Why not? Is he not going to have that riding on trails, parades, or rodeos? Prepare for everything. Let’s see your horse training videos with a wild horse?
Hi Julianne, I couldn’t agree more. 🦻👩🏻😛😜👥👻👽🎃👻👾👎 I was ranting all the way, myself without your comment even visible thanks to mr Spaceman dude from the internet corp. Four different excuses in four replies for a completely unnecessary, counter productive indulgence of dogs, that is compounded by various other problems, including : the distraction of the camera operator and the near constant overly- interactive voiceover defect meaning, imo, an interactive style not suitable for the key first training sessions under saddle, talking with multiple serial barnyard specimens, including the horse (who she doesn’t that I noticed, directly state or ‘afford’ a name to even when praising the “good boy” hell out of him, check the name of this vid as f you don or won’t believe me,…. …..so, ithis imposed state by the mom person of inconclusory reward system, from somebody with apparent status within the family, is both distracting to the horse, emotionally impactful, and which won’t at all reinforce to the intelligent , special and brave Spanish mustang/ newest member of the farm family, (who is indubitably the whole reason the camera is there in this way, that he is the one being praised, and or, that he has as much distinctiveness as the rest of the family, whose various names are liberally applied as needed to ensure that 😔any other 😒Instrictions ffgor said parties must be readily appreciated to apply specifically to that named entity!! Do this horse is not being asked to work with only the trainer handler/ key resources person, but under the watchful but intermittent scrutinized by and control of the mom- guy. But other than the hat it looks like a great project, you have acquired some pretty serious equin capacity there and seem to have at least a modicum of innate ability to connect with this horse and be liked by him. Sometimes you need to just lock up the fogs the mom and the game all n the barn and have your own day. Fixing the end part of the vid here, where your ‘standing together like good friends’ portrait is totally covered by a thumbnail for another video about goats or something is also on my wish list for your video. Can’t wait to see the rest of the comments??!! Posted day 47 from not-Mardon 😮😢😂🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I really enjoyed your husbands training techniques, particularly bending down to signal to the horse to change direction. I’ve never tried that before I love it! that’s a beautiful looking boy. I’ll have to check out your channel to see if you have more updated videos on his progression.
I have a question. I’ve seen many horses that can be ridden without a bit. What do you think about that trend? I’m really wanting to know. When I was younger we had 9 horses and bits were common, but looking back on that, it seems that maybe we were hurting horses unnecessarily. So I’m feeling some guilt nowadays So man6 things in horsemanship are changing, and for the better it seems. This was a wonderful video. Thank you.
I may go back and watch it again, great. Turned the volume down after a few minutes as it was distracting, but I may go back and see if I missed anything from the audio. Again, great.
Great choice! This horse is really physically sound and also colored up very nice. You are doing a great job training him as well. The dogs are a little annoying 😅. But good job!
loving the work on the horse, but can't hold back the smiles for how much the mother has to control her kids. reminds me of my kid brothers, and how I couldn't turn my back for a second before they'd be doing something dumb to one another, haha. cherish the moments guys, it hurts when they are gone
Im GLAD to see the guy wearing a HELMET to ride!! so many just dont!! i know a guy who insisted on wearing just a felt cowboy hat when riding his safe older horse, the horse stumbled or spooked once and the guy was thrown into a metal panel railing and incurred a head injury...brain damage, and never recovered fully...is now permanently compromised... otherwise, i wd eliminate those excess loose reins, horse could get front feet caught up in them while fritzing out during training and cause a wreck n injury to horse or rider. and when doing more videos could u put the dogs in the barn so we can focus on the horse/rider instead of all those dog commands; thnx.
Bit nerve wracking watching you mounting for the first time! as I know what can happen. steel posts, jump wings, wow! loose reins when you get on! man you are one brave jockey! Congratulations though. You did it!
It’s always been my dream to adopt and train mustangs. When I was 14 I bought my first horse, a domestic untouched two year old stud. Trained him myself. After training him got a job working other people’s horses and training them. Ended up having a kid and having to sell my baby four years after having him. Now four years later, I’m BLM approved and in three days I’m hopeful my two bids win and I can start gentling the beautiful mustangs. A four year old black who will be my main focus on finishing, and a beautiful soral who is two, who will mostly be worked ground work for a year or two until his growth plates are fully closed. I’m beyond excited and videos like this one make me so happy!!
@@RobinsFamilyHomestead To each his own style but I have never seen family put into this close proximatey of an untrained horse while starting it in my 40 years of training. You must have learned your skills i front of YOUR computer.
@@JMINDIANA487 Oh I’m sorry were you actually there and saw how close or how far away they were? Do you actually know if it was a safe distance? Seems like the only person doing any sort of learning from the computer is you. Don’t make judgments based on watching something on your computer.
@@carolynstewart8465 It means they didn't get enough rain for their pastures and hay fields. Farmers and ranchers in my location had so little rain their hay production was down to about 20 % of the normal supply so a lot of cattle had to be sold and some people had to sell their entire herds because there wasn't enough feed for their livestock. Any hay that was for sale was usually priced about three times as much as normal, so the market price for sold cattle didn't make it affordable to buy hay to keep them through the winter ( if they could even find enough hay to buy).
Her commentary is a bit irritating to listen to. Stupid people to be in that arena while taming this wild horse. All that should have been done in a round pen without distractions so he could focus on you and not all the others in that arena.🤦♀️
Your comment is “real bright”. Dogs weren’t tormenting the horse. Plus we ride in all sorts of places with hikers, bikers, dogs, ect. So the horses need to be used to every noise and surprise. Thanks for the not so solid advice internet cowboy! Maybe you should stick with watching cat videos instead.
Great job on a beautiful horse. Thinking some of the challenge might have been eliminated with a little less distraction about but, your horse, and you seem to have done good by him. Was wondering if you have or have considered ever taking and riding back into the country that he came from, wonder how good his memory for the country would be ? Thanks for the great video hope to see more.
@@RobinsFamilyHomestead I grew up on a Goshute reservation in Tooele Utah. We harvested mustang colts right out of our own wild herd and broke them as cow ponies. My grandfather didn't like the term "broke". He preferred to say "gentled them". This video brought me back to those days. I noticed a lot of negative comments. Don't listen to them. Whatever videos you make, there are always going to be a certain amount of haters. Just keep making them your way. I think your wife has a lovely voice and you did a tremendous job. I'm really impressed. The more desensitization a horse can get the better. Talk about desensitization!-here's a video I made about Indian Relay Racing. I think they have these in Idaho too. Maybe you've seen them. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3k4FDuxP3sE.html
@@RobinsFamilyHomestead So cool! What a small world! Yes, I feel sooo blessed to have experienced that growing up. Wonderful, amazing memories. And you brought that back to me with your video. ♥It was right at the foothills of Stookey Mountain south west of the town of Tooele where the wild mustang herd was. I have lots of stories. That was a long time ago. Your kids are so fortunate to be able to experience that too! Thank you, thank you again and can't wait for more videos!! Keep up the great work! I live in Colorado now, but I'd love to come see your mustang if I get out there again!
What an annoying voiceover!!!! When starting a Horse. It should be as quiet as possible. Not with people or kids, Dogs, Chickens, Motorcycles, Or someone constantly hollering at Kids, Dogs or whatever. Time is your best friend, Not annoying noise, Ground work will do miracles!! keep everyone and thing not needed away! It does make the horse confused! You should want your horse to be able to trust you, And you him! You may not like this comment. No problem, he's your horse, Not mine. I just added some advise is all.
@@RobinsFamilyHomestead Again, Your horse, Not mine. Hopefully you will never be asked to break someone else horse. Well, Maybe think of getting another horse, And let someone who knows what their doing, break it for your you. It would seem this one will be confused the rest of his life!!
@@koba9204oh shush. Tell me, are you a horse trainer yourself? Do you even Own horses? Who are you to think Anyone even cares what you think about Anything?
I’m sorry, but were you there? Do you know personally the amount of distance between animals and people? Don’t be quick to judge when you were not there.
Should be explaining the things you are doing and stop making about talking to dogs and kids..not very professional..good progress with horse and that's what people want to see and hear about not yapping to the dogs..
@@kellyaiken7601 never said I was a professional. Like I said, these videos I make for myself. I share them online. You either like em or you don’t. If you don’t, be an adult and move right along.
@@RobinsFamilyHomesteadThey wouldn't starve to death if all the big cattle ranchers weren't demanding the land they're running wild on as 'theirs'. If there weren't lobbyists, there wouldn't be as big of a problem as they claim! Natural selection and a small bit of roundups would allow our wild mustangs to rove free! Don't understand why you small ranchers support the corporate ranchers when they do nothing for You except allow you to purchase an incredible horse for a few bucks. Do you truly buy the lies??
We are all western cowboy that live on a ranch and break mustangs in 3day we all laugh at ur video you would never make it on are ranch we we are true western cowboy with a round pin ur a good laugh in are bunkhouse
I can also see that you have no idea how to spell either. Good on you. Maybe you should focus a little bit more time on learning how to spell before you want to be a keyboard warrior.
Even though he does not have a round pen , he seems to get the job done! in fact he would definetly make it on your ranch that you dont own he owns his place more likely, he would make it on the ranch mate because you have to have all the round pen etc I was surprised at how well the horse travelled around him on his 12 ft rope lead!!! nice saddle too!! I start horses, brumbys (australian version of mustang) and personally I dont want heaps of kids bikes chickens and dogs around when Im stepping up on one but having said that this mustang has to get used to all this. its his new enviroment! you cowboys must be bored boring cowboys if you get thrills out of laughing at someone doing things differently to you! This guy has a happy supporting family probably something you will never acheive. Jerk !
Magnificent horse. So obedient. Super good-natured. Gorgeous mover. Outstanding confirmation. What a pretty good boy! Great choice! So pretty. This boy tries really hard to please you. Just beautiful.
@@RobinsFamilyHomestead even with so many foreign distractions and noises, Cowboy kept his cool, didn't spook. An incredible work through it mindset. He's so smart. And trusting of you. Delightful to watch his progress. Kudos. And hat tip. He's a 10/10 treasure. I wish he had a more majestic name. Like Senator or Diplomat or Diamond or Shepard or Apostle or Covenant, because this horse is the fingerprint of perfection and is going to live up to the biggest name you can give him. He is fine as silk. Congratulations!
