Never one to hold anything back Julian Majzub gave it absolutely everything in his stunning Alfa Romeo 308C as he flew up the Hill at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard in 2016. The beautiful 308C might be from 1938 but it appeared to have no problem absolutely monstering the 1.16 miles of West Sussex tarmac at Goodwood in the Timed Shootout, beating many younger cars on the way #gwspeed #AlfaRomeo #GrandPrix

@jcgabriel1569
@jcgabriel1569 4 года назад
@@Potato-u5q Nuvolari *did* drove a 308C, at Pau GP in 1938. The car is fast, he's the fastest at the first day of practice (which is remarkable, since Mercedes Benz were present), but from that point, it became quite terrifying, since the fuel tank of his car ruptured during practice session and the car went up in flames as he's driving along. Nuvolari had to jump off the still moving, burning car, sustaining some burns as a result. That experience caused him to leave Alfa Corse, critical of the team's cars and race preparation, and he never returned.

@@williamsimmons152 That's an impressive performance! Especially since it looks as if it's an antique Grand Prix car running on motorcycle tires!! As someone said, "...in the days of no wings and skinny tires!!" and that's the truth. 👍

That could be attributed to the swing rear axle. There's camber change on the rear wheels whenever it accelerates, brakes, or corners, basically, accelerating in a straight line is fine, but braking and cornering on this car could be very tricky.

I could spend my entire day just watching Julian Majzub driving pretty much anything and be completely happy! 100% commitment 100% of the time! I understand that many of these vintage exotics are irreplaceable and mindbogglingly expensive, and their owners wish to drive them, or have them driven, with as little risk as possible - but I would much rather watch Julian Majzub driving them how they are designed to be driven, right on the ragged edge of control and without a thought for anything except setting the fastest time the machine is capable of delivering.
