One of the greatest finals performances ever on par with MJ’s game 6 in 98, LeBron’s 2018 game 1, the fact that he was the only one to give the greatest Shaq and Kobe Lakers team a loss with the team he had was incredible
and what makes that last sentence even crazier is that he literally did it all by himself. he really did deserve a ring, i was hoping when he went to the nuggets in ‘06 he’d finally get a ring but nonetheless still an amazing career
Yeah but the sixers bench outscored the lakers bench 29-15. And kobe shot horrible because of the sixers defense. Shaq is the only one that gets going. AI is the offense and the rest of the team is the defense.
I remember watching this game and going nuts during the final minute of OT. Sadly, it's still the high point for my 30+ years of rooting for the Sixers.
One of the greatest Finals moments in history, and one of my favorite moments in NBA history. AI hits a dagger, ruins the Lakers’ perfect postseason, and steps over Lue on the Lakers home court to rub salt in the wound.
I graduated from high school in the philly burbs in 2001. I remember this game and how exciting it was to win 1 game against the lakers given the historic run of pummeling opponents they were on. I think a lot of people didn’t expect the sixers to win even one
Their defense was good enough to win one especially with Mutombo, they just didn’t have enough offense outside of A.I. who actually didn’t play any defense.
agree i'd cheered for the sixers since they were the obvious underdog, but if i only knew they are going 4-1, i should have cheered for the Lakers to get the 16-0 record
HEY! BELIEVE IN YOURSELF Some days are more difficult than others. If today is one of them, remind yourself to just breathe. You can pick up your fight again tomorrow.🤞🏽❤️🔥
this is one of sports biggest and most impactful legacy defining performances. Lost the next 4 games yet we all recognize A..I willing sixers game 1, heavily outmatched vs Lakers was ultimate David vs Golieth, heart of a champion kinda story, . Say Chuck a G and a baller!
Nah Warriors was better, we went 16-1 oh and btw the Lakers only lost was game 1 of the Nba finals our first lost was game 4 of the Nba finals, we had a better start we literally went 15-0 so Warriors better
Kobe ball watching, lost track of Snow and was out position causing a terrible close out and Snow to drive past with a relatively easy runner. 3:57 Kobe did look tired. It also happened that difficult fade on baseline with Bell in his jersey.
Iverson did have help, sixth man of the year McKie, defensive player of the year Mutombo, and coach of the year Larry Brown. It’s a false narrative that Iverson didn’t have much help.
@@josecarranza7555 He didn't have any help nobody else was putting up significant points. They would just give the ball to AI and stand around. Mutumbo couldn't stop Shaq (which was expected) he needed somebody to share the offensive load and he didn't have anyone. He carried that team and at his size there was only so much he could do against that Lakers squad. If you put another solid scorer with him and they would have won that series.
@@courtlam79 Lol no way would the Sixers beat the Lakers. This same Lakers team swept through the tough western conference playoffs blazers, kings, and spurs.
@@josecarranza7555 The games were pretty close man. I can make the argument that Iverson carried this team but I don’t even think that’s necessary.. would just be spitting facts. I do believe if u put Duncan on this team it would been a 7 game series.
@@josecarranza7555 I also think that game 2 was horrible officiated but that ain’t nothing new on these Lakers 00-03 runs. Ima Shaq fan and I think he’s the most dominant force but on game 2 the amount of elbows he was giving is ridiculous… that drop step elbow is famous but omg this series they let it happen way too much
Yeah ... Shaq eventually broke us.. He was destroying Mutombo and then we had to start collapsing on him and he started passing the ball out.. Kobe and Horry and fisher and fisher finished the job
It would definitely improve later on, especially on GP guidance. Anyway he was already a good defender in 01. Overall it was a horrible game for Kobe which contributed to the 76ers winning ( offensively as well ) and defense wise he was defenitly tired already, that’s OT he fought against a tight ass 76ers brown defense system all game and had to guard Iverson in some occasions.
