I have switched from mono to 50 lb braid to a 50 lb quick link. I then tie my rig body 4 ft with a swivel on one end and the rig on the other. The rig body is 80 lb mono. The rig can be whatever you use now. Fishing for big carp in wild water braid and heavy rig bodies solve a lot of problems. This also lets you take the rigs off, and pre bait rigs and just clip them up. I also now fish 12 or 13 ft rods, to keep the fish up off the bottom. You also lose way less weights. This all really changed my landing rates. I’m no expert but I do fish a lot. Great video😊

I've thought of using a super heavy leader on a swivel from the main line before. Do you use micro swivels or does it matter? So now your going 50lb quick link to 80lb leader via swivel? Not sure what quick link is....

@AmericanCarpAngler the clips are quick link clips by breakaway. I use the 50lb ones. I am using size 12 spro swivels on the rig body, but any size would work. I also fish with my rod tips high when possible. The 12 ft rods really make a huge difference, not only keeping fish up off the bottom but they also help cushion runs and headshakes when using the braided line.

OK Scott I understand the setup now. Thanks for the info. I like braid better anyhow for casting and having the 4ft 80lb mono leader should stop the cutoffs. I'll give it a try. Thanks again

Is that an ancient proverb "As the crow flies"?

Yes. Mao Zedong said it over 10 thousand years ago, during the Ming Dynasty. Facts 😁

Thanks Juan! I appreciate that brother. As for the bait buckets I got them on bigcarptackle.com or I bet carpangler.com has them also. Here is 2 links to a few different buckets. I can remember what size I have. Maybe a 7 liter? www.bigcarptackle.com/bait/baiting-tools-storage/bait-buckets/ngt-5-litre-square-camo-bucket-with-metal-handle.html www.bigcarptackle.com/bait/baiting-tools-storage/bait-buckets/gardner-rectangular-eco-bucket

With so little snow pack this winter all of our rivers are pretty low right now too. Buy a new car… get a pair of “lucky” psychedelic shades. Just a “C” hair shy of 18….nice first fish ! Two minutes left in regulation time and the luck of the Irish is strong, just missed losing that 20+ pounder. Now that was a great 4 fish day. Wish I had a place to carp fish nearby.
