La Hoz del río Salado es breve pero impresionante. La surca este río de aguas salobres. Hasta aquí llegó la orilla del Mar de Tethis... nada menos.
Por eso la abundancia de sales disueltas en sus rocas.
Desde la localidad de Santamera podremos recorrer la hoz muy fácilmente, y veremos buitres pues aquí anidan.
Muy cerca se encuentran las Salinas de Imón, ya en desuso, pero que siguen cumpliendo su labor. Fueron las de mayor producción de sal desde el siglo XX de toda España.
The Hoz del Río Salado is short but impressive. This river of brackish waters flows through it. This is as far as the shore of the Sea of Tethis reached... no less.
Hence the abundance of salts dissolved in its rocks.
From the town of Santamera we can tour the sickle very easily, and we will see vultures because they nest here.
Nearby are the Imón Salt Flats, now in disuse, but which continue to do their job. They were the ones with the highest salt production since the 20th century in all of Spain.
