This Schwarzkopf Wildcat coaster has been operating at the Puyallup Fair since 1985 and is one of four currently operating in the USA. Did you know that only a dozen of the nearly 60 Schwarzkopf Wildcat coasters manufactured are still operational?
The Washington State Fair takes place twice a year in April (Spring Fair) and September and is located near Seattle in Puyallup, Washington.

What's funny to me is, nearly 30 years after I last operated one of these large Wildcat models, with the original 1960s Schwarzkopf controls, I still watch these videos with an operators eye. I can't be sure just from the POV, but it looks like they were running 5 cars. Wind seemed to be low and the track was running a bit fast. And they're definitely using updated brakes and controls on it. It would've been nice to have those new evac platforms too.

The trim before the last the helix and the final brake are magnetic brakes, that's a retrofit obviously.

wish cedar point still had theirs. it was definitely cool and i remember riding as a kid and for whatever reason the first big drop always sent my stomach into my throat 😂

It's great right up to that horrible brake run. I always prepare for bad brakes on a traveler, but that one's like a crash.

The magnetic brakes look pretty smooth, have you ridden it since they were installed?

isn't this one the last few of it's kind still operating right now? also if memory serves this rarely runs, or does it run pretty often? kinda want to make a west coat trip for the future, and plan on this state fair as being apart of it.

I believe it only runs for two weeks a year with the fair.

@@EmberMcLain87 no clue lol, I'm from the Midwest, never been west of St Louis yet. Id assume it's probably not bad though, so I'd recommend going then.

@@EmberMcLain87summers are never bad in western Washington. July and August are by far the best and most beautiful times to visit, you’ll likely see highs between 75 and 85
