Why don’t you put the protocols on Kofi anyways? I know I can print and laminate stuff, others probably can too.

It’s a thought. I like the flip book idea though, and there are other things I would want to include.but I’ll think on it.

I will have to look for a UK equivalent of the NOLS First Aid Course in time, on this side of the water. Not sure we even have anything like it over here. As I defiantly need to brush up on my First Aid, as it has been 26 years since my Last First Aid Training course, and that was for Battle Field based First Aid at the time. It is such a shame that you can't find somewhere that would do lower volume printing of a Protocol Guide written by your good self. You never know you could be on to something if it isn't something that is readily available, It could sell more than you would expect. I can see why you would hang back on something like that with a potential of not being able to sell all printed copies and being left with them and a large layout of cash in the first place. A Thought provoking video Brett.

I know NOLS offers wild med courses in Scandinavia… Which means other companies must offer similar? There has to be something?

@@AdventureOtaku I have found a 16 hour Course that is run from my Canoe Club that covers a lot of things I have done before, so that would be good, then there is the added bonus of it covering Kayak and Canoe incidents. So I will look to get on that if I can work it round my family commitments with my Daughters. I am already able to carry out rescues without any issues one flat water, I will as I progress look to do the same on moving and dynamic water. The Course should give me the skills to deal with casualties, which will hopefully progress to dealing with them on any water if the conditions are favourable to skill levels attained as I become a much better paddler.

@@Simon_W74 the wilderness medicine courses I teach aren’t specific to a skill set. They are just wilderness. They can be applied to any skill set or location type. Make sure the course is reaching Patient assessment. That is what you really need.

@@AdventureOtaku Reading a bit more on the Website it is aimed at anyone that leads groups, no previous Experience needed, and would more than likely accommodate someone like me that isn't a Leader of any form, but wants to do something to refresh on what I remember, Plus it will be helpful to my Club as well, We are Luckily to have a Doctor or three, but they are not always there. It covers a lot of what I did as a Serviceman, in regard to First Aid. so will cover assessing the Situation and the Patient, as well as Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy and Poisoning, which I have never dealt with before, as our was based upon what we would likely find in a battle environment. I think when I was in Basic Training we also covered things like dealing with someone that had been Electrocuted, so looking for the source of the Electrocution and dealing with that before dealing with the Patient. Never did it after that. I did another Course that had First aid and basic fire fighting within it as part of a Hazardous Chemical Transportation Licence I had to do as part of my Driver Training. Then once I was out of Training we would then do Annual First Aid Training, which covered the basics we'd come across once more. It was when were were going on Deployment that we would cover Battle Field First Aid or out on Deployment like my Last one was, with Real life scenarios to deal with, which was great fun for those Playing the Victims as they had syringes to play with fake blood that ruined uniforms if you got it on you. So as Mines were a big problem they were heavily focused on dealing with Victims of that. Having seen what happened to a Fuel tanker that ended up in a Mine field. As they had Passed our Camp and then one had fallen down a ravine into a Mine Field. That came back to us on five trucks. The got the driver and co driver out, but sadly they didn't survive. It was a preventable accident as they were speeding and lost control. We were only allowed to drive up to 40mph only on the roads. This was there to stop accident like the above. I once had to deal with young Driver that I had just unloaded, and as he was sorting out his vehicle tarp, he fell off the back of his Truck and broke his back. I had to stop him from getting up, as he did try as instincts take over. Dealt with another Lad not long before having Kids that had rolled his car. He was more difficult to deal with as He seemed fine to start with. He had bleeding coming from his right ear and was constantly getting up and walking about. Took a good while to get through to him that he had to remain where I wanted him. I have know idea what has happened to those over the years I have helped If I didn't know them or know someone that know of them. The Last time I was needed, I couldn't help because of my Oldest Daughter can't see trauma or even here about it without having a reaction, she is either violently sick or passes out. So I had to deal with her whilst my Wife tried to help, as My Daughter will not let her help. A chap had slipped and fell on some rocks in Scotland, and had made a mess of his face. The Strange thing is she is obsessed with Grays Anatomy, she can watch that as she knows it isn't real. If I tell her about anything that involves a slight cut she is feeling sick.

Where can we purchase those first aid books? Since you are teaching now, can you provide me a list of dates of somewhere relatively close to me? I am still excited after all this time awaiting one of your courses.

Hey Tommy, Both of those books are available on Amazon. The NOLS book is also available through the NOLS store. I just had a WFA cancel in Greensboro, but other than that I am not in your neck of the woods. I am mainly in the North East now.
