The 175 PRO perfectly represents a new generation of transitional kayaks, which offer paddlers a unique combination of efficiency, predictability and paddler comfort. Wilderness Systems successfully stretched their shorter Tsunami day-touring hulls into longer, narrower, sleeker boats, which bridge the gap between the two kayak categories.
Wilderness Systems Tsunami 175 PRO has the 'LARGEST FIT RANGE' of any Sea / Touring Kayak currently available in North America, easily accommodating paddles OVER 300- lbs. Bigger paddlers can now breathe a sigh of relief as they are no longer restricted to paddling short, wide, plodding recreational kayaks. Wildy's Tsunami 175 touring models will provide you the fit and efficiency to expand your kayaking boundaries and advance your skills long term.

Thanks for the info. When you say the 175PRO is a transitional kayak and not a sea-kayak, what exactly do you mean? By your definition, what defines a kayak as a sea-kayak? What aspects of the 175PRO keep you from putting it clearly into the sea-kayak category? I'm a larger paddler (6"1"/265 lbs) and paddle the plastic 175 and have found it a capable sea-kayak in all types of conditions. I'm considering moving to the composite, so please let me know.

Great boat for larger paddler wanting to go further with gear. She does need the rudder, windcocks bad. I enjoy mine for a relaxed paddle.

Im shopping and find your videos to be of so much help! NOW, I just need to be able to put hands on one before I purchase. No one in Alabama stocks this beast or its more affordable polyethylene sister.....

Glad to hear our videos have been helpful in narrowing down the right boat for you! Sadly though, the Tsunami 175 PRO has been discontinued, which means you won't be able to find any dealer who stocks it anymore... Your best bet in finding the pro version would be secondhand from a personal sale. To find the poly version, I suggest looking at Wilderness Systems' Dealer Locator page on their website. This will help you determine a dealer close to you and then get the conversation started with them about bringing one in for you!

Hi, I watch a ton of your videos and I have a question. I have the ability to pick up a Tsunami Pro 160 or 165 lightly used for about 1200 US. I've been contemplating a new Venture Jura HV. For about the same money. Obviously the WS is a beauty but I'm curious about the overall use. Will the Tsunami 160 roll, and be as playful as the Jura? I'm 6'3 and 225 lbs with size 13 feet so very few boats will accommodate me. I love the Capella but I can't get into it comfortably. Thanks and I look forward to your reply.

Thanks for your comment and being engaged with our videos, Scott. I'm glad you're finding them useful! Your choice between the Tsunami and Jura boils down to the performance elements you're trying to achieve. If it's playfulness and skills development, I'd suggest the Jura, but if stability and user-friendliness are priority, the Tsunami is a better option. Of course, test paddling (if possible) is the best way to find out which feels most comfortable. One thing I'll suggest is looking over the Tsunami carefully before buying, especially if it includes the rudder system. The design of the bow as it tappers to the mid-ship can cause gel-coat cracking where the foot pegs of the original rudder system bolt in. The foot rail is straight and stiff, while the transition from bow to mid-ship is slightly curved - tightening the rail sufficiently makes the gel-coat susceptible to spider cracking. Finally, for a few other suitable options, check out: + Tahe Marine's Reval HV - www.frontenacoutfitters.com/reval-hv-17-7-kevlar.html + Impex Kayaks' Assateague - abitibico.ca/en/products/performance-touring/assateague-17-10/p2 + Delta Kayaks' 17 - www.frontenacoutfitters.com/delta-17-rudder.html + Current Designs' Solstice GT Titan - cdkayak.com/Kayaks.aspx?id=34 Hope this helps, but don't hesitate to reach out with any other questions! @@CoryDavis-CBD, thanks for the reply. One more option maybe you can offer your opinion on and that is the Etain 17.7 from Valley. I'm thinking 21.5 wide might be tough but they list this boat as a 200 to 275lb paddler so figured I'd ask.. I note you didn't list anything from Boreal. Keep making these great videos, they're the best one out there.

The Tsunami 175 in this video is from 2012. Wilderness Systems discontinued their pro models (fiberglass construction) in 2014 unfortunately, so they are now only available in polyethylene plastic construction.

Great review I didn't know that a lower backrest improves our ability to torso rotate Do I have this right ? The length of the cockpit opening is 36" But the forward bulkhead is located just in front of the ( 1 of 3 ) screws that holds the footrest rail Thus giving you a 50" (? ) bulkhead -to -bulkhead length ' Thus alleviating all concerns about adequate in the boat ?
