I saw the prototype about a year ago. I loved everything about apart from no suspension plus I own a Zooz now and I received my electric pro full suspension e-mountain today so I can't wait to urban ride on that when the weather get better in the uk it did snow yesterday so no riding today 😅

Everything came true about that graphic of the future. We have face time and earphones, and we communicate while dining. We fly jumbo jets. We have Uber Eats, and we have self powered hydrofoil surf boards.

As for a small fast bike I would get a roadrunner pro, can't peddle it but that's fine as it has excellent range.

I really want the Dutch style cargo bikes to become popular in the UK - and it would be good to see in the US too. Those cargo bikes are much more capable cos you can fit a surprisingly large amount in them, or a heavy load, and move around easily without need for a car or van. And they come as electric versions too. Unfortunately because they're rare and most have to be imported they are prohibitively expensive and difficult/expensive to maintain. As someone who will never be allowed to legally drive, having to rely on buses or taxis just doesn't work and holds me back, and I could do with the cargo space for some of the jobs I need to get done around the house, garden etc. Cargo bikes are also great for transporting the kids if you have a couple, there are models specifically designed for that, which include seats with seat belts, attachments for baby seats and covers to keep them dry. Also cargo bikes are _excellent_ for last-mile deliveries and are much cheaper to purchase and maintain than a small electric van.

specific energy hasn't increased for 12 years (265 Wh/kg, panasonic, since 2011), what makes you think it will? nothing wrong with being optimistic, but i think it's as good as it gets

The law of diminishing returns has met the boy who cried wolf with batteries. Every week a new "game changing" battery is "in the final stages of developement" in some college lab or R&D dept. somewhere will "in the near future revolutionize" electric transportion..color me skeptical. I won't say never...but I'm afraid 10 years will come & pass with no significantly more energy dense battery in general distribution at a cost at or below what we have today.

I think we are going to see a lot of one wheel PEV's on the freeway in the left lane cruising at 80mph, 10 over. If raining, they will simply use an umbrella.

Wow, that's the best paragraph I've read in some time. Yes, a person alive a hundred and years ago have seen cars, planes, trains, phones, they would fit into our culture easy..people that lived 200 years before them, have seen none of that technology, they would think it was sorcery.And, every action has an equal but opposite reaction. Trillions and trillions of greedy, ignorant and destructive actions have existential, exponential, and apocalyptic reactions..A wise man once told me.. Right..

Exactly, just because it has a front bubble it won't do anything to keep you warm or cool. Americans have become used to heaters, air conditioning, electronics, 60+ mph, isolation from the climate to give up the comforts of automobiles. Small electric vehicles will for the forseeable future be toys in places with moderate climates for short trips by young & retired people.

Very familiar with the 'right hook' ... but being right hand drive in Australia here it's a 'left hook'. Good vid, future trends is an interesting topic not covered on most channels. One area that is increasing massively is the DIY section of the market. Why pay $5k for an off the shelf e-bike when you can take the old trail bike in the garage that hasn't been ridden for 5 years, but a motor and battery for under $2k and have an e-bike that is at least twice as powerful as the $5k off the shelf piece of crap? Then you can start getting into beefed up third party controllers and higher voltage batteries etc., a whole new world opens up to you. Surely this area has to be a massive future trend?
@chimerabmx
@chimerabmx 8 месяцев назад
Totally agree that most off-the-shelf ebikes don't offer as much bang for your buck as something a crafty person can make in their shop. What we have strived to offer is something way more bespoke and high quality. All titanium. Top quality parts (Magura brakes, Kenda tires, Sun rims, ASI BAC850 controller, etc), fully thermally potted battery capable of 90 amps, etc. Built here in the U.S. We've encountered some pretty sick homemade builds but so far nothing can come close to the power-to-weight ratio we offer. We'd love to encounter a homemade build this fast and light though!

38lbs is still 38lbs. If this bike was 20lbs it would still not be worth upward of $5000. Why would they market it at that price is ridiculous. They should’ve priced it $1500 Max even more realistic would be 1,100 & watch it fly out of the showroom floor. And this price is considering the “new” mid drive if not for that $700 The range is not excellent at all, and the lowness of the bike makes it a kids cruiser for an adult. I mean what are they doing to themselves besides leaving a bad taste in the minds of people even giving it a chance in considering it for purchase.🙄

Do you have any idea how much titanium parts cost to produce? The base line cost of this bike would be well over 2K to start with, probably more. Watch the video on how the bike is made, it's pure art.

Too proprietary...all ebikes are...mmaybe get we the people swamp master full suspension bmx....and cyc mid drive. If mid drve works in the w.t.p. suspension design...may need hub motor for that.but a regular bmx with cyc no suspension be easy...motor or battery die...easy fix..bolt on is the way to go. Uwant light? 8 lbs added to standard bike.. like 22lbs bmx.to 30 lbs. Bmx ebike...get "bike e bike lightest mide drive..all pricey options...but can get heavy for cheaper. And u Can always put a shock seatpost on any bike.and fork.

Technology that is actually game changing or even needed isn't as fast as one would think..Electric vehicles are nearly a hundred and fifty years old, and there are still flaws that make them impractical..And well over 90% of our technology is unneeded..It is like magic for the small percentage of people alive over the last 50 years to benefit from it, except the consequences are vast, and only ensures that our technology and civilization are temporary..I have advanced degrees in chemistry and biology and worked in sustainable development for almost 15 years..Got to learn the facts about our energy system, supply chains of all sorts, agricultural system, etc., And I've come to the same conclusion as every single person in that field with the appropriate education; this civilization is a house of cards, and won't last much longer..Like every civilization to ever exist..The root causes are that all civilizations celebrate and reward greed, ego and violence...Which infects and poisons the decision making process..And makes all of our technologies lethal in multiple ways..The laws of thermodynamics and the laws of nature and the laws that govern complex systems are non negotiable, technology can't help with them, and they have sealed our fate..I'm only interested in technologies that can help me be more self sufficient..I suspect, along with my former colleagues, that this world wide civilization will come crashing down in the 2030's, best case scenario..Our technology is like another false god, or shiny beads, fools gold...

@@SmokeyTreats Yes, but at the same time, all of us are busy bees, keeping the balls in the air, the best that we can..The day is coming when enough balls hit the ground, that ends the game once again..Except we are the pinnacle of this kind of civilization, and maybe all civilization, as the planet couldn't possibly facilitate, accommodate or tolerate another like ours..It just won't be possible..Our real currency is time, and it's fleeting..

The bike is way too expensive. they could have opted for an aluminum frame and made it way cheaper. also 35mph for a 4kw $5k bike is pretty pathetic. would have been a much better if they took ezstrapz e-bmx volt bikes approach. that bike is less than half the price with a larger battery and it's lighter. and you could modify that bike to push close to 4kw with it still being significantly cheaper after buying the modifications.
@chimerabmx
@chimerabmx 8 месяцев назад
Happy to race an Estrapz any day of the week. It's a nifty looking bike but aluminum can't hold up to the abuse of bmx. As for the 35mph top speed - that's just out of the box. What do you think would happen if you modded it?
@topelite666
@topelite666 8 месяцев назад
@@chimerabmx most pro riders use aluminum so i dont know what youre getting at. of course your bike is superior. but the price is insanely high and i wouldnt want to put 4kw on an 8ah battery out of the box at the price either. plus the ezstraps has WAY more space in the middle for a larger battery. if i do wipe out on a chimera why would i want to replace a titanium frame when aluminum is soo much more cost effective? effectively what youve made is a huge liability. its why i dont own a titanum frame or a carbon frame and never will. a one time wipe for a bank account. It's cool that youve made a sophisticated bike but its missing practicality, has an excess of moving parts and failure points. I do like the modular design of the drive chain though so that is a plus compared to a bafang or truckrun mid drive. Would have been a better bike if there was more battery space and was constructed out of aluminum
@chimerabmx
@chimerabmx 8 месяцев назад
@topelite666 @topelite666 We'll have to agree to disagree on most points. First, there's not a single pro freestyle bmx rider we know of who uses aluminum or carbon fiber. It simply can't hold up to the abuse. Meanwhile, the titanium prototype is almost four years old now and has been thrashed in a way that would have destroyed aluminum or carbon, including being backflipped off motocross ramps by X-Games Gold Medalist Ryan Williams and Dusty Wyggle, and slammed at the skate park (see our RU-vid for videos of all this). Still runs great. Second, we wouldn't put a larger battery on the bike no matter what it's made of. There are countless electric "bicycles" on the market that offer lots of range by sacrificing power or by being so heavy that they're impractical to pedal without pedal assist. We're one of the only brands who sacrifices battery Ah to offer a vehicle that pedals like a bicycle without any pedal assist at all, but throttles like a motorcycle when you need it, going zero to 35mph in just a few seconds, and climbing 32% inclines throttle-only (check our RU-vid). That might not be practical for your needs, but it clearly fills an important segment of the market given our order volumes. Third, our High-Drive design (patent pending) actually has no more moving parts than any mid-drive, but is more mechanically efficient and way easier to work on. Lastly, the price point is not solely caused by the titanium frameset but rather overall build and part quality. We manufacture the all steel gear transmission and inrunner motor. Magura brakes, Kenda tires, Sun rims, ASI controller, etc. All hand assembled here in the U.S. The Estrapz and other off the shelf entirely Chinese made bikes are nifty, and bargain bikes like that are good for getting more people on two wheels. But comparing them to the Chimera is like comparing a top of the line Mustang to a Kia.
