I’m just blown away, I really want to create a wildflower meadow this year I already have two ponds and I live on an estate! We feed the birds daily and utilise our garden as much as we can for wildlife. This has motivated me to buy some sand and seeds. Thank you!

I LOVE your approach Spectacular ! Wonderful vision along with a hands on approach, fully engaged with shovel, wheelbarrow, sweat equity and certainly heart, wonderful ! My shovel, wheelbarrow and vision have my garden, hardscape and body good and healthy and happy beyond words. My determination and will have been creating here on our land for decades, zero heavy equipment and on a substantial slope of a mountainside at that. A lifestyle to be fully engaged with your land is to honor and deeply respected in my opinion. Way to go as you enjoy the beauty that you've been creating..... Gardening smiles from the Sierra Nevada mountains of California 🔆 ❄️ 🌲

@@Bishopton hi, I just saw this, sorry, this hot spell is going to last only a couple of days so I am continuing my 'normal' routine on the assumption that they will have well developed roots. I water in the evening, if the plants show signs of wilting i will give extra. I'm considering putting a cardboard 'mulch' on the soil around my veg to reduce evaporation and I did move my garden parasol to give shade to some newly planted seedlings yesterday. How are things shaping up in your garden with the heat? mark

I'm digging my own wildlife pond in sandy soil at the moment. Its satisfying doing it by hand! It's going to be a 4 meter circle, covered in pebbles. I'm struggling to create shelves so I'm creating a beach all the way around the pond, and plant the plants into the pebbles and gravel. I'm exited to to see how yours turns out!!
@MarksHouseandGardenUK
@MarksHouseandGardenUK 2 года назад
That sounds very nice. It's a shame people can't post videos for me to see. I'm having the same problem creating shelves and had thought a similar approach might be necessary. I'm going to post a pond dig update soon. Mark

Yes, it attracts everything really all parts of the food chain which then proceed to eat each other.

Hi, can I start to create a wildflower area now in October? We have an old patch of lawn that is full of dandelions and ribwort plantain, I’d like to cut it all really low, then cultivate it so it all churns up.. then hopefully put some wildflower seed down with yellow rattle. Can anybody advise? Thank you!
@MarksHouseandGardenUK
@MarksHouseandGardenUK 10 месяцев назад
Hi, I would certainly do the ground work now, then cover the patch in very heavy duty weed membrane, let the frost break down the soil and kill the vegetation, then sow the wildflowers in the spring, this is what I would do. Thanks. Mark

Please only use local or at least national provenance seeds and not ALDI seeds - you will dilute out the local genetics which have evolved for the local ecosystem.
