Each year, I spend a generous amount of time looking for and photographing wildlife all over Alaska. In the past my Alaska adventures start off by spending time with Alaskan Brown Bears, Ptarmigan and the occasional Wolf. This year I thought I'd start things off a little earlier by searching for Red Foxes and other wildlife on Alaska's tundra. As I searched, I saw countless Bald Eagles, Lapland Longspurs and other birds flying nearby. Continuing my search, I finally came across some signs of recent Fox activity and even saw one off in the distance. Eventually, I was able to find not one fox, but 7. A whole den of Foxes, perhaps the most unique Fox den I've ever seen or photographed. I won't spoil the whole adventure for you, follow along and see this incredible Fox family for yourself!
One of the best parts of my work as a wildlife photographer is being able to share these amazing moments, animals and experiences with other photographers and nature-lovers. Good luck with the workshops, the participants are lucky to be on it! Love the foxes and what a treat to see the lapland longspur in breeding plumage! I got to see one during the winter in northern New England and it made me wonder what they looked like when they got back to the Arctic! Love the broll and scenery mixed in as always to give a sense of place. That's awesome there is a place to stay out there too. Safe travels!

Nice to see another video from you. I never knew there was a silver variation of the red fox - i think it exists only in the Americas (?). Thanks for sharing this wonderful day.

I wondered if your absence the last week or two meant you were in the field in Alaska. Gorgeous foxes, you truly have a gift for finding them. I finally had one show up on the trail camera, I think it was a young one! Looking forward to more from Alaska and when you get a chance, I just started releasing a series on the Red-Tailed Hawks nest. Alaska looks so fun and amazing!

Fascinating to see such a variety of colour variations at one den. Although, here in Wales , I have seen different shades of red, some with white tips to the tail and others without I have only ever seen one black variant. It wasn't completely black but certainly from a distance it gave the appearance of being black. That was more years ago than I care to remember. Beautiful images as always and I particularly liked the distant shot of the fox on the ridge line Best wishes.
