Thank you ! This engine started off as one of the early D409 showman’s engines. I still have to fabricate a longer canopy to accommodate the extra length of the new tender. They do run extremely well once run in & all the motion has loosened up.
@@modelsteam2805 - Mine is certainly a smooth runner! I could never get my canopy lights to work and now I hear the guys in the EU are hooking up thirty LED's, but they won't sell to the US, so I guess I'll have to figure it out myself.
Hello matey. I was just going through your build thread from the link you posted. Really impressive!! One of the members mentioned using teflon washers. Did you use these?. If you did can you tell me where you put them as I have a showman's kit which I am yet to build. I'm new to all this so if you could make it simple 😁
I fabricated a new tender for the engine & inserted Mamod TE rear wheels within the Wilesco rims, as well as a few other modifications. Thanks for your comment.
@Marcus Keeler The engine started out as a standard Wilesco D409 Showman’s. The engine was completely stripped down & rebuilt to my liking. Here the engine is running for the first time, after replacing the sight glass. I documented the rebuild on the Mamod forum, see the link below for the thread. www.tapatalk.com/groups/modelsteam/wilesco-d409-showman-s-stripdown-rebuild-t30456.html
