Agree, but I would love to see a special series of Doctor Who say, set in Wilfreds early years as a younger man he met an old man who asked Wilfred for some help to move an object in his junkyard a larger box a old police box? Of course, Wilfred does not hesitate, and though he does, he notices the old man smiling. Wilfred smiles back. " Thank you, young man, now I have a request. Please can tell me your nam? " the doctor asks. " Wilfred Mott " Wilfred replies. " Oh my boy did you say Mott? " YES, sir, says Wilfred. The old man smiles. " remarkable, oh, I wonder, can you please remember to give this letter to a young man in say 60 years time and tell him to give this old police box a lick of paint, she's wearing a bit thin, and possibly tell him she's not to have anything spilt over the inside, it'll probably be to late,but oh never know?" 60 years later, Wilfred remembers that note and asks the doctor was this is from you? " Well, yes, Wilfred, nice you never forgot about our real first meeting all those years ago, I sort of did tell today," a significant smile from both. Donna looks at both and says, " What?" Then laughter and slowly a goodbye to Wilfred as the doctor turn a he Donna disappear inside the tardis. Wilf smiles and cries with happiness and thinks never forget never be gruel and never give in, but then he looks up and see a shooting star. " Give em hell, both of you, stay safe, Donna." he waves one last time an old soldier defending the heavily skies Bernard Gibson a champion of the whole world to end of time goodbye good bless you kind man thanks for smiles and honesty and RIP Bernard Gibson, and (Wilfred Mott)

Shame about his death? HE WAS 93. Did you expect him to live forever? You're lucky to have even gotten him to do this appearance, while still able at this age, to start with.

@@Xathos Yes, Bernard Cribbins had a good run. He had a full career as an actor and singer. Anyone who hasn't seen his earlier work, there are plenty of YT videos where you can see him as a young man. His portrayal of Wilf - a last minute addition after another actor died - was masterful. He brought so much depth and love to that character and to Doctor Who as a whole. Even though he never was a full companion of the Doctor, that one trip on the TARDIS was magical. I don't doubt that Bernard was thrilled to join in last time before he died. The joy on his face wasn't an act.

​@ctwofirst6635 The fact that he passed days after finishing filming his Dr who scenes it's like he was holding on just long enough, to give us Wilf one last time, he was Everyone's Grandfather and he'll always be remembered fondly, whether that's as Wilf or for any of his fantastic work. I felt the tears role down my face knowing this was the last time we'd see him both as a character and an actor.

The thing that makes the Doctor's respect for Wilf so much better is that on a Timelord scale, 90 years is basically just a child, but that's not what the Doc sees with Wilf

I'm not 900 years old, I'm in my 60s. I loved it when the Doctor said he'd be proud if Wilf was his dad. I would like nothing more myself, to have a dad who encouraged you to follow your dreams wherever they lead. So brave and so loving.

Bernard did such a good job playing Wilf. A soldier who never took a life, that's someone even the Doctor looks up to

One of the most amazing things is that Wilf was never supposed to become such an important character. He was just supposed to be some random newspaper seller in the Titanic episode. However, the guy who played Donna's father got sick and died so they rewrote Wilf to be her grandfather to take Geoffrey Noble's place.
