Cutting and round baling hay with Allis Chalmers WD , WD45 , New Holland 469 and 488 haybines and a New Idea 483 baler #allischalmers #wd #wdfortyfive #newholland #newidea #hay
Other persons on YT using older machinery and baling with a round baler say that part of the technique is to steer in a slight weaving pattern, left-right-left-right so that you, the operator, control which side of the pickup gets the hay...therefore how much hay gets put to the left side, the middle and the right side of the bale....... It seems to work for them.....
Nice job with that old Allis. I spent many hours on the flat seat of a narrow front Allis Chalmers C and an underslung Sun mower deck. I have to admit though, I much preferred running our Farmall H's and M's. The operator position on the Allis felt more like the old Farmall F20 where you were kind of entangled in the machine.
The WD / WD45 was a lot more ergonomic then the C’s. But absolutely nothing wrong with an M or H , I’d love to find a wide front M ! Thanks for watching
@@ontariovintagetractor Funny it seemed like wide front Ms were a dime a dozen around our farm in NW Minnesota. We still had two when I was growing up, and one sold at auction 15 years ago for only $1500 USD.
I have a video of how I did it , but I made some slight revisions. I’m going out to cut hay tomorrow I’ll make a review video of how I did it and how it works. Cheers
Does it work well on the gehl baler? It looks as if the New Idea baler has one lift gate hydraulic cylinder, while the gehl baler has two cylinders on the gate. Wondering if the Allis has enough hydraulics to work two cylinders?
Hey there , it was siezed when we got it , had rotted rear rims , took some work to get it going , was able to free the engine without taking it apart... if your willing to take a chance on a non runner , sometimes it lays off , thanks for watching
