Looks like a pretty slick helmet but pretty expensive for the beer leaguer lol I mean what’s the cost of one’s “melon” though? I know but something tells me there is another video here where you test the different levels/prices of helmets. With the same tests to see if you really have to spend the extra to keep your “melon” safe.
@@OGDonaldEngel i confirm, this helmet score 1star and is ranked #61 on the list , in fact on the top 10, only 1 helmet is a recent model, the reakt 95, all other model are not produced anymore!
I have one (off the shelf) and love the feel of it. There are no hotspots, it doesn’t hold sweat, it dries quickly, and doesn’t smell like Satan’s butt hole after a while. The cost is high, but I go through two helmets a year just because the foam starts breaking down and coming apart on the lower level models. I’m hopeful this is the last helmet I’ll have to buy for a while. I can feel the wind blowing through the flow while I’m playing. Having said that, because it doesn’t soak up any sweat, it all pours down my face. Ice skate probably 3 to 4 times a week. So far it’s worth the price for me.
I have it as well and agree about the sweat being a bitch, but I love it. Feels great and allows more airflow and I’ve got tripped and shit and went straight back and it did well protecting my head. Better than the Baur reakt 75 did.
I have the non-custom verson and it breathes like nothing else! I've 'tested' it with more than one puck hit and ground fall with no noticeable effects, but it does score very poorly on the Virginia Uni helmet test protocol. AFAIK CCM haven't said why it does so badly. The 910 also scores very poorly. *shrug*
disregard the VT helmet test, many manufacturers like developers MIPS have called into question their methodology. They used less than 50 impacts and a single size head mannequin, their impact testing does not relate to something you would experience in a hockey game. Just ignore the VT test and find a helmet that fits your head best and stay away from goon leagues. No helmet will protect from a trash dirty beer league blind side hit. Only delusional people who can't do their own research take the biased VT "study" at face value. Once you look past the srurface, anyone with two brain cells can see their "test" is not applicable to hockey
My son has one and he loves it...he has talent a couple head shots while behind the net...other than the initial "ahhh" factor.. he said he felt it...but not like any of the other helmets...he had a tack710 and 500 series in the past 2 years. So he gives it his noggins up ...and it's cooler. And far more comfortable
I walk into the pro shop and ask “what is the dirt cheapest helmet you got so I can get on the ice?” Ironically, when asking other skaters what equipment upgrade made the biggest difference in how they played, most said the helmet. Wasn’t expecting that answer.
Loved this! Looks like lots of fun! Loved the cantaloupe joke. My mom and stepdad eloped to Vegas. Still salty about it 7 (in October it’ll be 8) years later. Anyways, cool helmet that looks absolutely cool and super comfy too but WAAAAAAY out of budget for me.
i like that you try and review these, but lets be honest, helmet ares 99% used for concussions, which are not physical damage, but interior damage and how well they absorb energy, you could partner up with some science channel to review how effective it is, tho youre probably sponsored by them and wont do an honest scientific review if it meant bashing them..
My son has somewhat short hair...prep school hair cut...he says it was weird at first. But it was no issue by the end of the first water break...and now his tacks 710 feels weird.
I like the idea of the custom fit, but they don't offer that material for a Goalie Mask, at least not that I've seen. If it's not good enough for a Goalie mask, it's not good enough for a player IMO. Protect your head. Bones heals, brains.. not so much
I am betting the d3o and web printed stuff will be coming...the market difference for skaters vs goalies is pretty vast. So you have to make some in roads somewhere .... considering the material costs difference between the "standard" and the new. It will take some time....
