WILL A TUNED TRUCK GET BETTER FUEL MILEAGE? 

The more miles u put on a Cummins the better it gets. Someone told me that last year. Thought they where full of shit. Bought mine Sept 18 was avg 15 mpg hand calculated. Have 19k miles on it and now I am getting 19.8 to 20 mpg hand calculated. Not deleted.

When I did my last ram my mpg on highway didn't improve. My in town is what improved by not doing a Regen no more.

In south Florida diesel price is $2.06 average price $2.34 a gallon

My 14 lml with optimized stock tune from ppei went from 18 to 25 freeway with no load, with my ding ding hooked up it went from 12 to 13 mpg. ( stock tire size and I live in the Pacific Northwest. )

My stock 2016 Mega has been ~2 - 2.5 mpg worse the what the computer says since day 1. Don't believe what the gauge says. With that said I average around ~16 give or take mixed driving (rural town, not big city stop and go) with 35's, corrected speedo, hand calculated. Not bad for a 8000lb truck. I don't get much better on the highway though. I personally don't believe deleting buys you much of anything as far as mpgs for the newer trucks. (here comes the guys claiming 25mpg big city driving....lol)

I owned 2 Cummins that I bought brand new back a few years ago an the longer the trip meaning from full to empty the better mileage they give than jus on shorter trips .. at least that was the case with mine .. cheers man 👍

My 2018 RAM is 10% off the trucks mpg. I use the Fuelly app to track mileage service etc

Take into consideration the time spent idling for several minutes here and there significantly affects mpg in that short of distance. Still probably in the 16s, not too good unless you did alot of city driving too that we didnt see.

16 on that beast is GREAT, some 4.0 / 4.3 6 bangers do good to get that...

Sounds about right to me? But idk, I heard gas mileage gets better once you get around 20k with these trucks? So that might be something to remember for the future. But Idling can affect your mileage quite a bit too, I know my average in the summer vs in winter up north here (hand calculated) changes by 4-5 mpg from all the extra time spent idling in the morning.

My 06 gets 350 to 400 miles to a tank with 20x10 with 35’s on it average is 10 to 13 depending on how heavy my foot is

Try to only get truck stop diesel. Diesel is usually fresher and better quality.

Wow, I'm surprised it was so low. My 15 with Aisin tuned avgs 19 on my way to work and home, mostly hwy. Straight hwy unloaded is 22.1 hand calculated. Hopefully it's get a little better for you.

A tune will always mess with the guestimator. Think of it like this. Lets say it takes 100hp to push your truck at 70mph. Before you were tuned it took 30% throttle to make 100hp now you are only at 20% throttle position for an example. The computer now thinks somehow your truck is only using 80hp to go 70 so it is showing a higher mpg because it thinks your going downhill.

How often are you going thru a regen? My Nissan 5.0 Cummins with winter blend is 16-18 mixed summer blend 18-19. with a regen every tank to tank and a half. In regen typically average 8 mpg according to instant mpg gauge. And they last 20-25 miles. Completely stock no tunes thinking about tuning but haven’t pulled the trigger.

I've noticed on my 18' 6.6L if I use cheap diesel , I get less mileage. I commute so I've just stuck to Chevron diesel. I feel like its cleaner and i get 10% better milage.

Diesel here is 2.90...89 octane for my 6.4 is 2.50...I'll never understand why diesel costs more than gas

My 2019 tuned and deleted by Mat at Optimal sees 11-12 liters/100kms now. It has 16,000 kms on it as well. Before he tune and delete it was at 17 liters/100kms. It's def worth it to delete and tune these trucks. It's the truck in the 2019 Cummins Delete in Optimal Weldings video.

I think your average will come up a little over more miles, like a whole tank. Also your mileage should improve by a couple once you have closer to 10k miles on the truck...it will break in a lil more. Usually your 'cat back' set up and tune should give you an improvement over stock so...I dunno I think ur still breaking her in

your values are low? Typically, a tuned vehicle has better MPG.. I'm wondering if the tune is burning more fuel??

I got 21.7 mpg hand calculated on my 17 3500 dually after delete, before I would only get 15.6 max.

3:73 gears, 75 mph killing mileage. my 2018 with 3:42 will get 20 mpg at 65 all day long, I have grey hair lol.

You must have tuned your truck all wrong because before you tuned it it got 21.7 running 75mph and 80mph.

The tuners r faking the fuel injection maps. The mpg calculation is worthless as soon as u tune! Lmao tuned and getting 20% worse than stock! Garage punks think they can beat the oem engineers. 🤣

No difference my truck tuned or untuned no difference sorry it’s a waste of money I talked to a diesel Machanix and he said the trucks that he has worked on has seen more soot with the additional torque and horsepower my transmission wouldn’t shift properly and always was throwing a electronic throttle code I don’t have money to burn to lose my warranty so it’s gone sent it back for a refund truck runs just fine without it these trucks are tuned from the factory for a reason .also there has been a couple of guys that had issues on there emissions having to go in for service the dealer said these tunes shorten the life of the emissions system so look it up but there’s no company out there that sells tunes that has no idea what shape your truck will be in at 50000 miles good luck
