Thanks, again! Hiking = no cell service for me too often. Happened to me in Scottsdale AZ. I’ve seen where the Mini2 helped prevent a tragic situation and more recently have to wonder the deceased hiker could have been saved if he or she had one. Great product!

I really appreciate the personal experiences like this. It helps to show how important these satellite messengers are. Thanks. Rick

Hi Rick, I just saw this video. I was going to make one myself on this very subject. Now I won't have to. I do use a GPS tracking app, but it isn't the All trails. However, it sounds like it is very similar to All Trails. If you want the name of the app, I will provide it. But this comment is mainly about using one of those apps for tracking instead of the Satellite communicator of any brand. The app I'm using also works great when off grid. I can download Topo maps while still in cell service that will open off grid. The size of the map I can download depends on the memory in my phone. It will also syn with my home computer via the Internet so that the track is saved to the phone as well as the home computer. If you get an opportunity, I would like to see you do a review on this app as well. To take full advantage of the app there is a yearly subscription required. But I think it is a one time charge of less than $30.00. As you stated in your video, the Satellite communicator is mainly designed for Emergency (SOS) situations with an occasional "check in" or short message and weather check. In my opinion, a tracking app and a satellite communicator are a must for anyone who likes the outdoors. Heck, I even used my cellphone app to find my car once in a large parking lot that was full of Holiday shopper's cars. I think I'm going to have to pay more attention to your videos! I just verified that my subscription rate is $19.99 per years. Don

I downloaded it and tried it and it did not work offline, even with maps downloaded. Gaia worked tho

I had trouble in the past on several hiking trips, but the last two times I used it, it worked for me. I would contact customer support if they have it. I have heard a lot of good things about Gaia. I have the app and have tried it a few times but really don't use it much. I may test it out more as I have also had some issues with AllTrails in the past. Rick
