Irish Supporter. Carling was a great player. A hard bugger from the old-skool. He talks straight. He was correct in his opinions on the EFRU's 'Old Farts' clique. It'll never change🏴‍☠☘

He was a hard bugger for sure . Don’t know why we don’t see or hear enough from carling since he finished , but suppose that’s his decision . Nice to hear an Irish rugby supporter talk positively about him. Not sure he gets enough respect or love from his countrymen . 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇮🇪

I saw his England team talk at the 1991 World Cup, at the time, played on NZ News. I haven't seen it since, it struck me as one of the best motivational speeches I have ever seen.

@@fidget2020 I remember a doco and Will said he was told from higher up that they didn't want just anyone playing rugby had to be high class English elitism at its finest no wonder soccer is big in England etc because common people werent allowed to play rugby so had no choice.

Any English rugby fan over the age of 45 will tell you what a player Carling was. V underrated and never got the plaudits his partner Guscott did. As a pairing they were among the best in the world for around 6-8 years.

As much as I don’t like to admit it, Eddie Jones seemed to have a good plan as to how to beat the All Blacks. Seeing what’s developing in the England team, I think Steve may well have some plans that could develop into something good. I stood next to Will about 25 years ago when he visited Plymouth and he was very short. No wonder he didn’t like playing a year up. I know how much size matters when you’re 11-15. It’s good to hear Will speak, he seems like a genuine sort of guy.

Excellent interview and interviewing with consideration, mindful respect, and facts adding to the very articulate and insightful responses of Will Carling, which made viewing so enjoyable and captivating. I was always in the position that Will lay the foundation for elevating England to higher heights. If I was being honest he was the "Will Hunting" High IQ, determined, and liked a bit of tick for tack, stiff upper lip and English steel. A bit of tongue in cheek, he and Jeremy Guscott were one of the best combinations playing and at the same time keeping their uniform tucked, trim, and proper, even in the rain lol.

England probs gonna beat us in game 1 - we always suck in the first test .. and won’t be surprised if they win the series NH rugby look too big too strong these days- just look at how the Blues dominated super rugby playing that forward dominant style and made it look easy! Chiefs have a lot of ABz picked from that game - if England were smart they’d take note of that

I agree. Only fools, key-board "ex-spurts" and one-eyed bigots write off any top-tier back-line. If they get decent ball, they'll go eye-balls out attack mode🏴‍☠☘.

European hade over decades always rivalry and wars.... over centuries propaganda on every side about what be better. .. Today ist fighting still about national thing🤷. .. Maybe fans need this rivalry for getting louder and go cracy at matches, but good for european this its only on sports now and european appreciate the differences. I find japan fans really good, giving great atmospheres and japanese go cracy about the game!
