I'm not sure I follow. At first it seemed like you were implying that PPV is a dying model. I honestly don't see why DAZN needs PPV, other than for convincing non-subscribers to subscribe. If they want to charge a PPV fee for those who don't have a yearly subscription, I can understand that. But I don't think PPV is necessary for all subscribers. Like you said, DAZN has money. They can pay the fighters whatever upside they were getting from PPV on other platforms, but DAZN has the advantage of being able to pay that upfront. I'm personally turned off by DAZN starting to charge PPV. I subscribed in order to avoid the hassle of PPV. If I'm getting charged yearly, and then I have to pay for PPV on top of that, there's no reason for me to subscribe. I'd rather just stream than pay twice. I honestly don't understand why so many people are making the case *for* PPV. It's screwing us over as boxing fans. PPV wasn't always the norm. But nowadays, boxing fans not only expect PPV, it seems we almost *thirst* for PPV events. For the life of me, I can't understand why people think that putting boxing behind a paywall can be good for the sport. I don't have to pay PPV for any other sport that I watch. If boxing was as easily accessible as other sports, it would be more popular, and there could be more money to go around as a result. But when you charge upwards of $100 per event, and then constantly put even the most average and meaningless of fights on PPV, then of course the fanbase is going to shrink. I honestly think this is a bad move for DAZN. I've been a subscriber since Canelo's first fight on the platform. I won't be paying PPV for the Bivol fight, even though I'd love to see it. I feel like I've supported the platform enough. I feel like I've supported the sport enough, much more than any other sport. And if DAZN decides to keep charging subscribers PPV, I will be cancelling my subscription. DAZN has the opportunity to become the Netflix of sports, and they're blowing it.
