It is always interesting to see how fathers actually feel about this topic while the whole nation is working hard to make it ok. We cannot overcome our protective instincts and self-worth that easily and it shows up when it's about someone you really care about.

It's so weird how fathers get so upset about their daughters dating. I think they all have an Oedipal complex.

Not at all? It's normal to feel protective of your family, especially your own children. When you have a daughter and she starts dating, it's the biggest reminder that she's growing up, and nobody wants to see their daughter get hurt or used.

schmassbinder Oedipal complexes refer to the suppressed desire for children to want to be with their parents. It doesn't go both ways lol. The term Oedipal specifically is also just for males. If you're talking about a female having an "Oedipal" complex for her father it's called an Electra complex.

heres the BIG diference between movie stars with multi millions parenting and average people that have to WORK 9-5 jobs parenting they hire help at all times....average people cant afford that and they go film for months on end of course they are going to ant to spend time with their kids when they barely see them.
