Aid has started arriving in Gaza via a US-built temporary floating pier.
Trucks rolled across the pier for the first time, bringing aid into the besieged enclave as Israeli restrictions continue to disrupt deliveries of vital food and other supplies at Gaza border crossings. The US and aid groups hope to increase deliveries at the pier to as many as 150 trucks per day.
Despite the efforts, the head of the UN's food program says there’s a “full-blown famine” in northern Gaza.

A capacity of 150 trucks per day would be a huge contribution at the level of current deliveries via road. By contrast, the air drops were worth only 2 trucks per day.

Considering Israel's expansionist ambitions (and proven record) those in the north are right to be concerned about leaving that part of the territory uninhabited.

This dock is just an elaborate photo-op. If it can get up to 150 trucks per day, that is less than a third of what is needed. Before Israel invaded Gaza and started its genocide there were 500 trucks per day going in. Genocide Joe could just order Israel to open the 5 or so land crossings that it has closed. A UN report at the end of March said that the number of people in famine condition would rise from 600,000 to over a million by July. The rest are not much better off. Once again DW refuses to acknowledge reality. It says that the land crossings "are not operational" rather than that Israel has closed those crossings. Who writes their scripts? The Israelis?

United Nations Now Reporting Having previously reported that 9,500 women and 14,500 children had died during the war (some 69% of all fatalities), OCHA is now reporting far lower numbers, stating that among “identified” deaths, 4,959 women have died, along with 7,797 children (or 52% of the total number of identified deaths in the war). Of note, the Hamas ministry counts all those under the age of 18 as children, while commentators note that a not-insignificant number of combatants are in their teens.

The UN clearly and directly said that the numbers were correct, and the estimated dead were adding the people unaccounted for and trapped under the rubble until they died. "The UN humanitarian agency OCHA (United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) published a report on May 8 2024 with revised data regarding the number of Palestinian casualties in the war. The UN agency in its report reduced the number of women and children believed to have been killed in the war by nearly half.." - Al Jazeera Spin it as you like. No glee, but the Hamas Ministry is the liar, not me. Regardless, if hostages had been returned, that "half" would be "half" again and more. The lie, or Taqiyya, is being told by Hamas.

Finally, the US has figured out a way to pick a fight between, and then fund both sides of two conflicting territories to fuel the production of more war machines and more ammo and then to profit exponentially from the undoubted rebuilding of both of these areas. Possibly even taking over one of them for its importing and exporting advantageous positioning. Or possibly for the money it will make in other way by “helping democratize another area. They are so used to live of benefits, hand outs and foreign aid, they can not even grasp the idea anymore of a normal work week. It is not restricting, it is checking them and then letting them go. Nobody is capable of distributing it in a war zone outside of the dedicated safe zones. That’s the real problem. Plenty of aid is coming in Rafah and Deir El Balah.

@@Peaceonearth2024 that was the fact until Hamas shot down the Kerem Shalom crossing where 90% of the aid was coming though, and since Israel began the operation on Rafah last week. Now no aid is coming in since then, except for the floating peer. My friends and family are literally on the ground. I have a small idea of the facts of the ground.
