You can try. I doubt you will succeed. No country can match China's production capacity. Ask Trump how his trade war with China ended up. It ended up with China winning, a bigger trade surplus in China's favor. India has to buy from China, its a must because India doesn't produce anything. China does not have to buy from India, China produces everything. Until you understand that simple FACT, you will keep deluding yourselves into thinking you can win a trade war against China. Even the Europeans and US are afraid of a trade war with China. What is India going to do? Don't make us laugh.

Suppose China were to ban all exports to India. It would mean a lost of 2% of China’s overall international trade. For India, it would be catastrophic and fatal. Take Apple's factory in India for example, without components from China, it would have to pack up and leave India for good, never to return
@dheerajyadav8134

Then why after all the saber-rattling they did not do that with US? For your poor geopolitical sense, it's not that simple. The world is more connected than it was ever before and there will be repercussions. China is good at bullying smaller countries with limited capacity to cause them any damage but with countries that match their size, they certainly and shamelessly bail their way out avoiding direct conflict.

Because the Chinese know that as long as the Indians do not completely lose their minds, they will not really decouple with China, and the Indian government's series of so-called anti-dumping investigations against various Chinese products will only make it more expensive for India to find products to replace China.

Just look at Vivo and Xiaomi. Tell me which parts inside Vivo and Xiaomi that India can produce AT SCALE? 90% of the parts inside Xiomi or Vivo are produced in China. They now can even produce the computer chips inside (China has been producing 7nm chips at scale since the beginning of late last year) So tell me, Indians, how can you claim "dumping" when you can not "produce" the same products yet? I guess you can ask Foxconn or Apple to set up a factory. But that is just assembling Apple phones. You are not really producing phones. All the parts inside are actually shipped from China.

Western investment is for making profits and Indian businesses are coming up fast enough to replace China. Further, Indian domestic economy isn't based on these products only. Most of Indian economy based on temple networks. Even UAE started building Hindu temples, and I see China would have no other options but to start building temples as opposed world is phasing out China for sure.

Apple is already producing around 7-8% of iPhones in India. Do some research before jumping to write. Its target is around 25% by 2025. Apple net profit jumped to 77% YOY in 2023. Foxconn is going to open another manufacturing unit in India for semiconductor apart from Apple phone. Indian company TATA(which produces Jaguar Land Rover) has already made a deal with Apple regarding IPhone manufacturing. I guess Chinese know nothing about India and what’s happening here. I think India's biggest issue is that it wants to be competitive with China and play same role. It's impossible to compare Chinese and Indian economy's and will take decades to even get to level where China is now. And nothing will change even if India decides trade war,it will hurt India more than China. India should be quite and take lessons same as China did for decades. Don't play empire until you have one. Be quite and grow dont fight and damage yourself more.

Another pointless explanation, and absolutely no understanding of the topic whatsoever. If a country is trying to investigate another country for dumping which is a known international practice, how is this waging a war! So when a case if filed against any malicious foreign company, its waging a war! At least in Indian system unlike communist China, you have legal remedies to avail.

Even China is not an empire.. it is USA, whose innovations are being produced in China. Chinese are mere laborers to Western masters. It doesn't take long for the masters to change the workers. @Indian_Kumar
@Indian_Kumar 5 месяцев назад
A day spent without India contemplating and being concerned about her partner China is a day considered wasted. China is perceived as a superstar ⭐ by India. Even local Chinese ministers enjoy more popularity in India, receiving greater love, respect, and acknowledgment from the Indian people than their own prime minister. Indians prefer tuning in to hear the Chinese local minister's report than listening to their own prime minister.
@PraneeI

First, it was done over a very long period of 200+ years. Not all in one go. And it was the British policies and laws implemented that killed 1.8 billion Indians, not that they were executed.
@PraneeI
@PraneeI 5 месяцев назад
The two main policies that wiped out 1.8 billion Indians are: 1: Allocation of food: Since the British were at war all the time, they didn't have people to do the farming. They made India do agriculture and then take it away. causing a massive famine every week. 2: Plundering of India's natural resources The British forced Indians to mine all the natural minerals in their country and carry them to the ports to be shipped back to England every day. extremely dangerous jobs, and these poor Indians weren't fed, and hundreds of millions succumbed to the exhaustion. The whole of India was ruled by only a handful of Britishers. Why India chose to never fight back baffles many to this day. Maybe India is just obedient by nature.

Inspired by the iconic figure of Gandhi, I am wholeheartedly dedicated to acquiring the knowledge necessary to construct advanced toilets-an honorable mission with the potential to save numerous lives in India and elevate me to the esteemed position of a national toilet hero. It is truly disheartening to acknowledge the tragic reality that every month, a staggering number of 15,630 Indian manual scavengers across the globe lose their lives due to the perilous nature of their work. My heart grieves for my beloved country, and I extend my deepest condolences for this sorrowful loss. Furthermore, it is vital to recognize the profound benefits that accompany the presence of toilets, including the eradication of open defecation, the promotion of cleanliness, and the avoidance of the negative reputation associated with sanitation issues in our nation. The distress caused by such stigmatization is profoundly distressing. As the beloved hero Mahatma Gandhi preached 150 years ago, the time has come to cease defecating in areas where we eat, sleep, and pray.

How does a 3.7 trillion economy fight a 19.8 trillion? 2) India needs cheap goods because your nominal gdp is 2.5k usd per year, ranking one of the lowest. 3) India is famous for its protectism of its local industries, which is why most if not all of Indian companies are not competitive on the global stage 4) Rejecting FDI out of pride is one clear indication that the Modi gov is extremely stupid and prideful. 5) China is growing 5x faster than India, how does India plan to fight a behemoth when it is but an Ant?

Why is Beijing's response so composed? It's because the Chinese don't actually care about what India does - It's bizarre Indians are so obsessed with comparing to China. Comparing India to China is akin to comparing Pakistan to Japan, Bangladesh/Nepal to South Korea, or Sri Lanka to Taiwan. One group is influenced by the Sinosphere, the other group is influenced by Indian civilization - they're not in the same league, let alone playing the same sport. One is yellow and the other is brown. One uses chopsticks, the other uses barehands. The most developed country in ASEAN is Singapore, a nation populated by predominantly Chinese. The former group collectively and consistently ranks within the world top 10-20 in IQ tests, PISA Scores, University Rankings, the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), and the Mathematical Olympiad; standing shoulder to shoulder with the Western world... while the latter group collectively and consistently ranks somewhere in the middle out of 100+ participant nations standing shoulder to shoulder with some failed states/banana republics. Comparing South Asia to East Asia is like comparing Africa to North America (Canada/US only). No developed countries exist outside of the Western nations & East Asia.

In 2024 QS Asia university ranking, there are 148 Indian universities while just 133 Chinese ranking out of top 857 Asian universities. Also in the Mathematical Olympiad, India always comes in top 10 above Taiwan, Singapore, UK and Israel. Also, India is amongst the top two countries which produce highest doctors, engineers, scientists, teachers, etc but you still think we have low IQ? India just became the first country to land a rover in the South Pole of Moon. Even your “westernised” country hasn’t done that. Just today, India launch a satellite to study black holes, becoming the only country after the US. But still China is way better than India. May be but it’s okay. Work is still in progress. You seem to be in denial and don’t want to accept India’s growth. China was also poor before US started investing in your country. Then you started skilling your population. Don’t forget China is still an upper middle income country. Since you are comparing to the US, let me throw a data before you. US’s per capita GDP is $80000 dollar, China’s is $12000 dollar.

All the talented Indians are actively trying to leave India - my uber driver just came to the US from India and he said he was a doctor back home too LOL. Why do you think Jaishankar's kids live in the US? Chinese GDP per capita: $12,556.33 Indian GDP per capita: $2,256.59 Except in Tier 1 cities like Hong Kong and Macau the GDP per capita is actually $49,800.54 and $43,873.59 respectively. Inspired by the iconic Mahatma Gandhi, my commitment is to gain the knowledge necessary for constructing advanced toilets-a noble pursuit that can save countless lives in India and grant me the esteemed title of a national toilet hero. It saddens me deeply to acknowledge the unfortunate reality that 15,630 Indian manual scavengers worldwide lose their lives tragically each month due to the hazardous nature of their work. I extend my heartfelt condolences to my beloved country for this profound loss. Furthermore, it is crucial to recognize the significant benefits associated with having toilets, including the eradication of open defecation, the promotion of cleanliness, and the avoidance of the negative reputation linked to our country's sanitation issues. The distress caused by such perceptions of humiliation is truly disheartening. India basically mix the chemicals from China and put them in pills. Do you know why India is a major generic drugs producer in the world? That is because India court claims that medicines are for public goods and India does not need to respect medical patents. That is the only reason. @@sabyasaci Most of the parts of Indian mobile phones are imported from China, and Taiwan does not manufacture mobile phones. Products are not boycotted. Have you seen China boycotting products from the United States and Japan? Do you understand why China has come this far? Apple is still the largest sales market in China, and Japanese products are very popular in China. However, in recent years, some products have been replaced by China.

If your country's comparative advantage in the market is based on state subsidies or other state backed incentives that reduce the unit cost of your product then its price is not realistic and another country should have the right to impose tariffs on imports that would balance out what is an artificially created advantage. However if your country does the same but cannot match the importing country's price then you do not have a right to impose such tariffs

I hope India applies these laws diligently to control surplus of Chinese goods and not to support any particular business person in the country. The current party seems to have people in their community who are okay to buy cheap goods from China and sell it at a premium to us Indians.

There is no point in having any kind of wars with China, there can be a healthy competetion between the two countries but a war in any form is pointless . I dont really understand Chinas medieval attitude of dominating the world , Its time for them to accept multipolar world , even if china acheives a super power status it cannot sustain it for longer time. History is full of these examples

You are wrong! China doesn't want to rule the world, but it doesn't want to be ruled either! The United States is the one who wants to maintain the world hegemony, wants to maintain the dominance of the world, and in recent years, the various suppression and containment of China by the United States is not naked illustration?

When did China say they want to dominate the world. China literally have 0 military alliance with anyone. In order to dominate the world, you need a military alliance like NATO.

Because of SCALE OF PRODUCTION, if you can control the entire world market you can produce and sell cheaper and still make money. Standard Oil worked on lower margins, but certain government officials had an agenda that they didn’t want low prices. Example today, the United States government owes every one, instead of paying off ten percent of the debt, they created ten percent inflation, which means they owe money that is no longer worth what it was when they borrowed it. The INFLATION TAX EFFECT EVERYONE IN ALL COUNTRIES THAT USE THE DOLLAR, it’s why Brics is trying to be able to do what America has done since ww2 , time will tell how much their currency will deflate. But good luck

India has been disenfranchiseing from China. Six years ago, Indias trade deficit with china was larger than the US trade deficit with China. So, it has done a fairly good job of redressing that imbalance. However, india is to reliant on its agriculture and its farmers, of which about 20 percent are tenat farmers. Which means they dont have any spending money for consummer goods. It's hard to modernise agriculture if one doesn't have the financial means to do so. The industrialization of Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan after WW11 came about because policies were put into place, which gave its farmers spending money. India really needs to look to them for examples on how to effectively modernise.

You mean land reforms in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, which increased the purchasing power of farmers and raising demands for manufactured goods and thus facilitated the rapid industrialisation of these countries? Won't work for India though, its politicians and industrialists all hold great land estate holdings. Don't expect they would come up with land reforms that would jeopardise their own position and wealth

Taking a closer look at the trade situation between the two countries, China mainly imports some raw materials, jewelry, animal and vegetable oils from India, while India mainly imports industrial products from China, it is clear who is easier to find alternative sources of goods, of course, India can find alternative sources, but China is still the factory of the world, India will pay very high price to keep Chinese goods out of Indian market,But these huge extra costs will have a huge negative impact on the competitiveness of “Make in India”.at the same time Indian will pay higher price to buy the products because of the higher alternative sources.China will of course also lose from losing the Indian market, but everyone knows who will pay more.

Just like the US. If cannot compete, impose tariffs, if still cannot compete, impose sanctions. Additionally, India has this favourite trick of imposing crippling fines for whatever reasons. The fear of losing, and yet aspires to be the number one country!!
