Odisha as well, The government is actively spending on sports as we speak. The Kalinga stadium is the home ground of Indian Hockey and Football teams that Odisha government helps in funding(Hockey Team won gold in Olympics) and Odisha FC ISL team which is the most valuable football club in India. They're even training junior football teams like U17 and U19 Indian football teams.

Hiii, I am from Nagaland and here the craziness of football is way too high. If in Indian team there are at least 40% of Naga players playing from the beginning and till the end(full time and no substitute system) then trust me we will be able to take India in FIFA World Cup and maybe we’ll even get though semi finals and make history.
As a goan who watched football live since I was a child and even cheered for the FC goa team .. where football is a hobby and exercise in our youth... I have seen amazing players have been left out cause of the lack of sponsors and initiative... Very sad! It is a wonderful game ....sports should unite a country !

Just take an example of Qatar. Even two to four years before, they were given the responsibility of hosting World Cup 2022, Qatar had started grassroot level selection, and the best available footballers under 14 - 16 age group, were given the best available exposure to world level training, skill development, nutrition and pitches, gymnasium etc. to play world cup football. It is very clear, without a deep rooted football culture, development of club culture all over the country, infrastructure, and huge amount of investments, we cannot think of competing in the only sport that boast of being World Cup.

I'm from "Nagaland", N apart from Goa, WB, Kerela, We as Northeasterners Love Football to the core of our hearts, forget about Cricket here. We've provided many good football players in the present period. Even the first ever Indian National Football Team captain was from 'Nagaland'. But sadly the team went inside the play'ground without any playboots during their time, n were disqualified. But, now times have changed, we've every fecilities in our Country, but in the present time ,India is only in2 promoting Cricket, n zero focus to football⚽....

The reason countries qualify for the WC specially those from Africa, and some countries in Asia like Japan, South Korea, Iran who consistently qualify is that players from these countries play in the international leagues like Premier League, La Liga, French league, Italian league etc. Unless our players compete against world class opposition we will not go far. To go to that level we need to work from the ground level up in our own country. To start with politicians should not even be allowed anywhere around the football associations!

One aspect not discussed are non resident citizens playing in Europe or Africa who we may integrate into our teams. Bangladesh for example have brought in Jamal Bhuiyan from the Netherlands who played in the u16 there and I believe one Iranian and American of Bangladeshi decent. Also Hamza Chowdhury from Watford has expressed interest to play for the Bangladesh national team.
Akash, you mentioned Asians don’t do well in ‘contact sport.’ But Indians are quite good in hockey. Yes, though hockey is equipment based, still it’s considered a contact sport. So it cannot be we’re not built for contact sport. There has to be some other issue with Indians when it comes to international level football
Doesn’t have to be about contact and strength. You also don’t have to be more than 6 feet tall. Football is mostly about technique and speed. Just look at Saudi this WC, Morocco. And check out how good is China in Olympics. This is Indian problem. Not genetic.
Main concern are height and speed I have noticed that our football team players are bit smaller in height and unable to get enough speed to chase the ball!!

I was passionate about football in my school days, and I was extremely good in it and played at state level. But due to the fact that I was suspicious about the future of this game in India. I left this game and focused on my studies. Now, I am a software engineer who likes his work. BUT SOMETIMES I FEEL THAT WHAT IF, I CONTINUED THE PLAY AND DID SOMETHING ELSE?? I can't explain that feeling. 😔😔
India needs to grow and nurture the young players and focus hard on their development. Many times I see young players do so well and show their potential in their 11,12 years but they are not able to mature to maximize their potential when they're grown up
It wasn't like the Indian federation didn't want to send the team for FIFA world Cup in 1950. It was just that they didn't have that much of money to send the team for two competitions as the Olympics was around the corner too at that time. So the Indian federation thought of giving importance to the Olympics rather than the FIFA due to financial problems. That was a major drawback which we are facing till now
