India's digital payments giant Paytm is facing a crisis as the country's top bank- the Reserve Bank of India is reportedly considering to cancel the company's license. Amid this speculation, reports suggest that Paytm might sell off its digital wallet business. I’m a dividend investor, My wife and I have invested in the S&P500, both through my TSP with the government, and through fidelity in her 401-k. Cashed out 270k from the S&P and invested with a Financial adviser, Monica Mary Strigle and we also bought Solana at the right time. Until around 3 years ago we were 100% in the s&p after over 30 years. I’m retiring at the end of this month at 52, while my wife will retire next year at 50. We currently have 3.7 million in our tax deferred savings. I am putting this out there for anyone looking for how to help themselves in this time of crisis.

Kudos to RBI, they should be very very strict and no leniency to be given at all. The founder Vijay Shekar Sharma might be thinking that if Congress govt. was in power one phone call and 1000 crores would have fixed all the problems. Fond memories of the by gone congress raj for all who break the law.

I think a report about that already came out, they messed up the kyc process, used 1 pan cards for hundreds of accounts, which means its possible that if you had a account in paytm, then your pan might be getting used in many other accounts, though this came from a source that didn't want himself revealed so.. not official

I'm a big time PayTM end user. It'll be an inconvenience to me personally. Yet, if they are not playing by the rules of the nation, I'll be the first to walk away from PayTM. I'll wait until the deadline, if PayTM put their systems in compliance with the terms set by the RBI. Nation first.

I have always been chary of Paytm. I have not understood its business model. If it cannot lend from the deposits, how does it earn its Revenues? Its public issue was a sham. Highly overvalued at close to Rs.2000, now trading at Rs.500 or perhaps less.

Is paytm offering loans? Being a payments bank how can they lend jnless they be a frontend to a NBFC or they own a small finance bank or commercial bank license?

Complete compliance, they can save their wallet business. For wallet business, any change in CEO or above 5% stake to be notofied to RBI as per semi-closed PPI license rules. On other hand, selling that business to other financial institutions that have better compliance track record

PayTM is a Chinese company. India must avoid PayTM. PayTM needs to clarify how it handles all the payment data and if it is passing on India's transaction data to China.

@@dramarendrasamal9831 Yes , I do . I am not saying Paytm shouldn’t be banned . However there is no clear evidence of misuse of information by Paytm . For that matter the same personal information exists with PhonePe and even there was Aadhar leakages that happened. So the point is why only Paytm and why now just prior to elections. Is it just to fund another Adani or Ambani who will benefit with JioFin or some other venture taking advantage and then fund that money to elections and make the common man pay more taxes
