Every once in a while something works out!😊 Years ago I bought an Astro van for $400. The owner said it had a bad motor. At least that's what his mechanic said. He had just had the transmission replaced so it had that going for it. 4.3 V6. He refused to let me start it as he was afraid it would cause more damage in the event I didn't buy it . Gave him his money, hauled it home and after it was off the trailer I figured "what the heck"! I turned the key and she fired right up and was making a tinny rattling sound. Hmmm? As he said he had just replaced the transmission that's where I looked first. The inspection cover looked a little bent so I pulled it off. Started it again and found the noise gone! Drove that van for 4 years before I sold it on. Don't ask about the 2010 equinox I bought that almost caused bankruptcy 😢
We have a multiple industrial MFs they are hard to beat!! You don’t realize how much you are going to use that fork lift👍👍congratulations on your purchase!!!
Being an Allis guy, I came across an AC 621 forklift a few years ago for $2500. Similar to yours, based on a tractor (D15 in my case) with a foot and hand forward/reverse system. When I bought it the guys selling it, a golf cart sales place, said it needed a $650 carb and the power steering/hydraulics don't work work. I took the carb apart, everything was loose inside and the fuel hose was falling apart. Tightened up the carb pieces, replaced the fuel hose and it cranked right up. The clutch needs to be out to run the hydraulics, you just use the forward/reverse lever to move back and forth. I'm amazed how many times I use it in a week. I think you will wonder how you got along without one!
Well I've always heard that a blind Hog finds a Acorn ever now and then.it seems you found a basket full. You will have it running and looking good before long. Thanks for the video.
A MF 135 with power reverse transmission. A really nice little machine and smooth when working properly. Must be a late 60's machine with the continental. Give it some TLC and it will last a long time. Suprised the reverser works that good.
That was awesome how fast that thing fired up have to say is that an even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then moment 😂 got to find a few more of those
Happy for you JT to find that MF forklift, and it started right up. Unbelievable. New plugs, points, fuel filter and oil change. She'll run fine. Little Gem is perfect name.
Nice find JT. My uncle owned a masonry company and he had s forklift just like this one. He also had two MF 356 forklifts. They all were good tractors. The old saying the sun shines on a dogs butt every once in a while rings true with this find lol.
JT, The old saying, one mans junk is another mans prize, You will have that old girl up and working pretty darn soon. Great video as always and I enjoy your humour thanks.
Massey industrial equipment was tough as nails. Awesome find. I think one of the biggest problems that Massey has had through the years until recently is really crappy hour meters that are nowhere near accurate to how much time is actually on the machines. This comes from a very long history of operating many, many of them. And I absolutely love my Massey's!! Have a great weekend J.T.
JT, you deserved a win. Period. Damn nice find. Screamed at the screen, 'bout the pedals, guess y'all was distracted. Sorry Dude. Next time I'll do better. What's her lift cap? Tag on the machine somewhere, if readable. Looks like a 18 to 20 foot lift. Drain the gas, do the carb and points, if applicable, but i can't really see electronic ignition on a Continental? Gas is older, lots of cylinder space causing pressure leakage, engine runs like crap, there's yer problem. Oil change? Yer coming into spring and summer, right? Use 15W40. I use that in my Jeep 4.2 with tooooo much blowby. Engine rebuild ain't in the finances yet. And just fer crap and chuckles, fix the right fender, put a water bottle/can/cup holder on it, and whomever is using the forklift while building the shop will thank you. Now, when can we expect paint?😁
A 15w40 change will come in Sundays video, she’s 10x better already! Says on the boom that it’ll lift 4000 to 15’ and 2500 to 21’. That’s a lot overhead lol
The Yellow Peril is a nice forklift, ok it has probs, but I think new plugs and points, new cap and leads, and some new 20/W50 oil and she won't have as much blowbye coming out the breather. Of course when you have your new workshop built you can remove the engine, put new rings, seals and shells in her and she will last for many years. Love the lawnmower, will be worth fixing as it has the proper engine.. All hail to the Yellow Peril. Lol
Hey JT, thats amazing. More Service, Oel, Filters some fresh gaskets and fresh Gasoline and it will much better. I am happy to see the next vid from the yellow monster.
When I was farming our implement dealer had one then he sold it to a white dealership so he bought one just like the one you have he would let us use it whenever we needed to lift some heavy things plus the millions of times our combines and tractors broke down. I hope you enjoy that forklift they are so handy to have around. He used his everyday
If you get the garden tractor running, maybe you could fine you a snow blade, or you can find you a sleeve hitch, so you can plow and disk Mrs. Jt's garden that would be cool, there it nothing more fun than moldboard plowing with a garden tractor
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 You'll have to find you a sleeve hitch and brinley plow and disk, I don't know how hard the sleeve hitches are to find on a Massey Ferguson
LOL good video!! That transmission I bet is somewhat like the old Turnbull 202, 203 or 205 Industrial, been a while since I seen it, at Moms yet, Dad had when he started out in the backhoe business, we used it for finish grading, it has a Perkins 3 cyl diesel in it, and has 3 pedals on the right. Center is the throttle, now here is the part I have trouble with today, the right pedal I think would go forward, and the other would be reverse, why I cant remember is, I have a JD X320 riding lawnmower that is just the OPPOSITE. Oh yeah, after spending hours on the Turnbull I still remember that old girl well!! And almost tore up some shtuff around here in tight places with the X320!!. It was good for finish grading, NOT, with a plow or brush hog, because you had to hold down on the pedal, think about that with a plow or disking a 50 acre field at our homestead, holding that pedal down when your 14!! And the little Perkins, was a fuel sipper, IF you run 10 gallons of fuel through it a day, YOU DONE SOME WORK, now getting it to start below 20 outside and didnt plug in the block heater you might as well forget it, and go back in the house until it had heated up a bit!! I will tell you to RUN, NOT WALK away from a backhoe Massy made in 1969, cant remember the number , Dad bought a BRAND NEW one, BIGGEST POS, ever that sat on the place!! The 4cyl Perkins and trans, we never had a problem with, the loader frames, the dipper stick cracking, and after 4 Cessna hyd pumps replaced under warranty ,that POS got traded off for a New 4500 Ford, we had really good luck with Fords , even they had quirks to.
😳 holy Crap ! Its a runner .. 😁 Full tune up .. Carb Fresh ..oil and filters . Well ..you could try some RESTORE ENGINE RESTORER Might help with blow by.. couldn't hurt. Thanks
Congrats on good purchase 👍 Maybe it could be "Fork Ferguson" 😉 Very interesting piece of machinery, not too much of this kind of thing has survived in working order... Maybe new fuel and plugs and wires can help for better running. What a sound on that engine 😄 Just great content on your channel 👍
Great find JT, you will come to find out having a forklift around is so handy, you will not want to be without one, if something happens to mine , I will definitely have to get another 👍🏻
That 12G is a bargain for $50 bucks. I paid $450 for a 12G I got last year. Plus yours has the delux muffler which are almost impossible to fiind these days. Great find JT!
Great stuff today!!!! I am glad good things happen to good people!! I wonder how much better it will run with fresh fuel? All the best to you and "Goldy Lift" That is my name suggestion!!! I am pretty sure that is the winning name. LOL
Seems like an early Lift-Master. Pedals may be forward and back w throttle ... 2 full cans of BG-109 in the used oil and run it around for an hour. May free up the rings some ... Then change the oil. If that didn't do it, try flooding the cylinders with some WD40 and let them soak. The top rings may free up ...
Try looking for a video on solvent ring flushing. It's a thing in the airplane world where an engine has low compression from stuck rings. They pull the top plug and put in a home made solvent mix, re-install the top plug on compression stroke with about 1/2 pint of their magic elixir and hand prop the motor. They say you can hear the solvent getting blown by the rings. Gotta do it over 5 or 6 time. But each time it should get easier as the solvent squirts through the end gaps and finds less "goo" between the rings. I used to do this with WD40 on old yard equipment when I could pull them over with a rope. Usually got back a lot more compression and less blow by. Of course this one could just be wore out. But a ring flush is a lot cheaper and easier than tearing down the engine as a first step 😁
Wow jt! I was so shocked when that forklift fired right up. Certainly not what I was expecting from an auction buy. If a fella wanted to put some time into that relic, I bet it would run for another 30 or 40 years. Heck, you might even be able to sell it for a nice lil profit. Just saying.
