I try to start my 1973 Dodge W200 for the first time in almost a year of sitting with a dead battery. Here is a link to the battery tester that I used: www.amazon.com...
i have a 74 w200 power wagon that looks to be spec'd the same. only difference is mine is two tone blue and white instead of white and red. beautiful truck and im sure your grandpa would be proud to see it run again. thanks for doing the world a favor and not letting this truck return to the earth.
She is a Beauty! Remember it's not like a new fuel injected Truck. You have to pump the gas pedal to set the choke maybe you did and I just missed it also by pumping the gas pedal you squirt fuel down the Carb. 2 Thumbs up! Oh BTW you can have your AM Radio custom rebuilt with all the upgrades of today's modern Radios. That way you keep it looking all original and that will add to it's increasing value.
You do know you're supposed to pump the accelerator a few times before starting a cold carburated engine? Sets the fast idle cam and squirts some fuel to start it.
What???? No one here has a cue how to drive a card equipped vehicle. Pumping the throttle several times to get it to fire will just wash the cylinder walls with raw fuel.
Nice old truck, If it werer mine, I'd leave the AM radio, CB, and trailer brake in the truck just as I found it. Kinda a tribute to my grandfather. I wouldn't really need all that stuff removed or upgraded, it wouldn't be a daily driver for me. It would be fun to putt around town in and maybe show off in original condition at a local car show during the summer.
Twin to my truck lol love it.theres a oil pressure sending unit on the back of the engine by the distributor and on the front of the motor on the intake manifold by your heater hoses there is a temperature sending unit.try replacing both they are cheap and easy to replace.nice truck man hope to see more vids.
When you turned on the light switch the turn signal indicator was indicating that the parking light filament in either the front or rear driver side 1157 bulbs was not working. PS: It's unlikely that your water temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level sending units and/or those three respective gauges are all defective. Therefore, I'd first take a look at the contacts with the printed circuit board they're attached to, as well as the grounding.
I just ended up with almost the exact same truck! Long story but I bought it from an old guy who was the second or third owner. It has the original everything including the original owners manual and sales receipt. A bit of rust like yours but otherwise in great shape. The only real problem is I need to pull the dash apart like you did to clean it out because it must have had a mouse nest in it and blows a nice urine smell. Also I am having a hard time finding parts. Any suggestion on where to look? Any other youtube channels you have found helpful for dodge power wagons?
You probably already know, but look for LMC truck, lots of parts for that truck and you can tell the story of the truck at; "LMC truck life." and read about other peoples oldies.
they used that grill in late model 73 s i have seen it before i believe it was original to the truck they were used in the last few months of production dont know his month of build the one i seen was 11/73 i prefer the 73 grill my self i own a very early 73 club cab that i found 72 radio delete dash and steel door panels and steering column for standard trans out of a d 300 you would not know if it came from the factory that way or not dodge kept them trucks pretty much the same for a few years
