Something to add to your toolbox: I had a 60's vehicle once that would start and die as soon as the starter disengaged. Turned out, on the starter solenoid the small wire on the left went through a ceramic resistor to the keyswitch and the one on the right went straight to the coil giving a hotter spark during starting. My resistor had gone out, causing the engine to die when the solenoid cut out.
we call them anti foulers they are used when an engine has blow by in the cylinder and keeps fouling out the plug with oil from the blow by so the antifouler pulls the plug out farther from the cylinder to help keep it away from the oil and prevent a miss in that cylinder. Enjoying the channel keep up the good job. Arkansas Dave
I see people call them different names. Where I'm from they're known as "De-Foulers" Now that there air cleaner is some sweet piece of work eh?? LOL. Think that's doing a lot of cleaning of the intake air do ya? Or more like making it difficult to get air into the CARB?? LOL. Great fun video and everyone loves these old Ford and Chevys from these years. Dodge too! Except maybe PEG from "ZIP TIES N BIAS PLIES"
Hello Again From Kentucky, The “NonFoulers” were a band aid approach to dealing with cylinders that had problems with oil blow by which could also include bad valve stem seal’s which somewhat kept the engine oil from fouling the spark plugs. I have used those things before myself with both good and bad results. From your compression test that I had seen, I would try to replace the valve stem seals first.
@@JMRRebuildersIt’s been quite a while since I had seen or heard mention regarding the “NonFoulers” until the question was asked. I’m not sure if Dorman still offers those things these days, But before the fuel injection engines become very common, Once the older engines reached a good number of miles the “NonFoulers” could buy you a bit of time until you could deal with the valve stem seals or whatever you chose not to do that you probably should have done. Yeah I will stick with that explanation.(LOL).
Heck yeah she is pretty sweet. We got plans for her so stay tunned. Check out our other content we got a few old fords. Thanks for comment and support.
One model year before self-plugging exhaust became standard equipment, good score. That spider is a beastie all right, but thank goodness you don’t live in Australia.
The Writing Spider, also known as the yellow garden spider or Argiope aurantia, is not considered dangerously venomous to humans or pets. While they may bite if provoked, their venom is typically harmless, causing effects like a bee sting. " Let's Go "
@@JMRRebuilders Hi there, I'm from the Balkan peninsula, Macedonia to be more precise. Its mostly mountanous terrain country so a pickup truck would have been most welcomed but mostly due to import taxes, American vehicles were never imported. I get to see one super rarely but its from some guy who lives or works in the States and just showed up on vacation with it.
Well, stay tuned cause, as you will soon see, compression is not the issue on this old girl. From what we been told it's for blow by. Thanks for comment and support.
I don't think they will honestly. These Ole trucks are very simple today's stuff is complicated. I wonder if anyone's gonna want to even try them like we do the old ones. Thanks for comment and support
@JMRRebuilders ...ok like watching yall ..I'm working on a 78 bronco xlt...dad's got a ol 75 f100...I've loved theses ol fords since I was kid ..thanks to my dad's old ford.haha..40yrs later to me best trucks round
A 302. Is a good motor but the 300 6.cyl is the best in my book. I have a 81 f150 300. 6cyl. 4 speed 4wd. Pulls like a scalded dog. Pulled many Chevy's out with it. In the mud and snow or where they couldn't go. Big Mike from Kentucky
Great question. To be honest we are currently working on a couple in the background. Honestly people don't seem to like those videos as much. Would you be interested in a follow up on this truck? Thanks for comment and support
@@JMRRebuilders it looks like it wasn’t your issue in this video I just commented as I was watching and it was only seeming to stay running with starter engaged. It’s part of the ignition system there’s tons of videos of people running into that issue getting these old fords running. Just a mental note for any future revivals that may be your issue if that is your symptom. Thanks for saving this old ford ! Coming from a GM guy
At least other provinces weren’t so near sighted and kept their Government houses… Perhaps downsizing the square footage would have been a better choice…same garbage happened with the old university Armoury of the 48th…most politicians are wacko
That color kinda rare kinda not ford would slap whatever parts, paint etc on other year fords they had laying around to build these trucks thats a ford 302 they good small block engines so are the 351s
