Okay: The Crawler is a Scheild Bantam C-35, C for Crawler. Scheild Bantam Corp was out of Waverley Iowa and owned by Vern and Wilber Schield. The crane that you are working on is a Schield Bantam T-350 (T for Truck) and has a Continental F227 in the upper engine and a Chrysler Industrial 318 cu inch LH-318-545 wide block industrial V-8 in the lower. It is an updated version of the C-35 or the truck model T-35, a few main differences but close to the same unit. Same as the T-350 that I have. The truck carrier (lower) was designed and built by Schield Bantam, Dana rears, Mormon front axle. Bantam Corp sold about 17,000 units in the 50s and 60s and was eventually gobbled up by Koehring Cranes and Excavators to enhance their hydraulic and crane lines. When they went into chapter 11 they were taken over by Terex Corp. Please keep trying as you are close to getting it running, good to see old items running and working.

Awesome thank you for the wealth of information, its cool to think these cranes were built only a few hours away from where they sit now.

I love that old crane. You said Tonka toy. Possibly but right off the bat I thought Match box when they still made toys in England by Lindsey Co. I'm 56 and miss my collection. I Grey up mom gave most of them away. Ugh.

Growing up my neighbor had quite the collection of matchbox cars, I wish I had them now.

The truck is probably a dart or a Hendrickson.

My Dad bought a banty, cable hoe, in 1958, picked it up at the factory located in Waverly iowa. I was 7 years old!! I rode to many a job sitting in the operators seat, good view!! When i was 11 dad had me drive the crane on a sewer job, just keep running over the stakes with the middle of the bumper, stop when i hit the buzzer and lock down the brakes. Man when some kids on bikes were riding past and saw me driving it their eyes bugged out!! I felt like Superman!!!

That's a cool memory, I cant imagine what riding in the operator seat was like, that would make for a cool camera angle!

I ran a loner crane yrs ago. At my dad's farm . It was a Michigan trk 2 axle and drive w a flat head Hercules 6 with a north west crane. Was a clamshell digger. If it hard to get to hang it up unless u want to. Take a 12 volt checker with u battery brush mayb coil isn't doing it.

I think a fresh battery or two to really get it cranking would help as well.

I think it’s needing a bit more speed turning over. I would enjoy seing it get at least one more attempt. Hope you get chance to start some of the other stuff at a later date. Thank you for the video 👍

I agree I think a new big equipment battery and some carb fiddling would help a lot.

Bantam was the crane and often times the truck was Mack or IH.
