There was a whole shelf full of ht lead at kent. When you said electrical wire. It was HT lead. Thats a brute that bamFORD! Yes the hinge allows you to access the big end and crank! Great system

I bet you wish the neighbours would leave you alone to get on with it I used to drive a dumper on my mates farm with a old hand start engine was only 13 years old and I had to be so careful starting it just in case the handle got stuck when started then you would be in trouble was a really old dumper the body gave up before the engine just shows how good things was built to last in the old days 👍

I think those engines have a decompression device, lever or knob of some kind. I could be wrong

The bamfords hinge over to clean out the sump the mains are bolted in to the top half so everything hinges over. If I remember correctly the big ends are shimmed so it maybe little end knock

Looks like a makeshift rocker cover, the fuel tank should be a ‘donut’ one that surrounds the water tank. I believe repro items are still available, both water and fuel tanks.

Did you put a cover over the parrots cage?

Could the engine have been doing a job that just required say 5 mins or so of running from the small tank?. Fill the tank , start engine, walk away, let it run out of fuel? For example, running a sump pump once a day or so.

Yeah see if that does hinge I would like a looksee inside that old engine? 😀

The bamfords fold off of the sump so you can access the bottom end without stripping the whole engine down.

I had a friend that had a small fuel tank that would run his pumpjack about half an hour to fill a stock water tank!

You need to get a long shaft 12v starter as a motor spiner I made one to spin any engine makes it easy to start engine

First and foremost, stop playing with the choke. If it tries to run, leave it. Then try again, if no go then play with it! but looks like Carb is seized/blocked. Do that then try, looks like she will go maybe 2nd time or close.
