This is a my first attempt at this kind of video,
Be kind.
My family and father are always trying to get old cars and different motors running.
This was the first time I decided to film the entire process not just the fire up.
We seemed to enjoy it so we might do more.

How brilliant & satisfying it is to hear its heart beating again. Love these old motors, just takes you back to being a kid in the good/poor old days.

Here’s a little tip for you when you’re putting fuel down the top of the carburettor on an engine that’s been stored for years if you use a two-stroke mix it will help to lubricate the bores and help stop most of Any scoring .

Hi I agree with Colin Barrett, it's certainly a '64 Victor as this grille was only used in that year, and it also has the '64 only sidelamp housings and hub cap centre motifs. I remember this because I was working for a UK Vauxhall dealer when this car was made. It looks a pretty solid car, ideal for restoration.

Love your video, my childhood neighbour had one in the late 60's in south Auckland, NZ. He updated to the FD 1600 in 1970-1980. My dad had the HB stationwagon ( Viva ) Fireball Red ( monza red - uk ) also south auckland. I still have a Vauxhall Magnum ( 1983> ) & bought a second HB 4 door with stromberg nine years ago. Incidentally, they are both on Pinterest. I also had an HB 2 door with Zenith carb from 82-84 as a first car, kept for my brother till 86. Currently visiting Auckland last weekend, lived Waikato fifteen years. Keep a follow up video coming.

It was parked so long ago that at the time you couldn't even get unleaded. It may have been wise to siphon out the remnants of the petrol in the tank, or just disconnect the fuel line from the pump, so you didn't pump the 40 year old fuel up. I bet that 4 decade old leaded fuel smelled interesting.

This reminds me of being a car salesman at a Vauxhall dealership in the late 70's. The old service department of said garage was being sold off as a new one had been built. This was to make way for a new Lancia dealership, so we had to empty it out. In one of the garages was a Vauxhall 20-60. I was tasked with moving it as I was the junior salesman. I turned up with a new battery, a gallon of fuel and a foot pump. Tyres inflated, battery installed and fuel put in the tank, the damn thing started on the third attempt, could'nt believe it. It drove horrible! Keep the vids coming.

This was my first (second hand) car circa 1974 . Light blue, column change (3 speed?)bench seat upfront. The seller, a reasonable older gent, addressing me from his front door - took a fiver off the asking price as an inducement to sale. Price after discount - £30. I should have put a tin tray under the engine, to catch the copious flow of oil discharging from the crank seal - and that was without the engine running ! My associates, rather unkindly, dubbed it - The Shitehawk. Sadly, my inability to keep up with it's thirst for fresh oil - did for the engine. One night out, on the home run, the car suffered from a severe deficiency of oil, and subsequent engine overheating, causing terminal damage to the crank bearings . Although we managed to nurse the Victor home - the damage had been done - this turned out to be her final journey. Shortly after, I rolled her down the hill, to the breakers. Strange to say, I went on to two further, later, Victors. The model I really lusted after, was the VX/490 - but I never realised that dream. Thanks for the video Mark Cooper
