This video shows going through a 1982 electric start 30" cut 8HP Tecumseh powered Snapper Comet riding mower. Will it start and run? Watch and see! Thanks for watching and please subscribe.
That is NOT a 1982 Snapper, it is MUCH older, if it still have the Serial plate give me that info & I can narrow it down for you, if it doesn't you could give me some specific photos & I can do it with those, I worked for the company 40+ years
I love these Snapper rer they are like little tanks! I own a 1974 Snapper Comet that I bought used in 1988 & replaced the Tecumseh engine it was junk & I put on a brand new B&S Power Built engine & was still being used till 2020 until I put it out of service for a engine rebuild & complete restoration , I hope to have it back in service this year & I bought a used one in 2020 as well that's a 2016 that needs nothing ! I also own a 1985 & 1990 both are self propelled walk behinds , The 85 I bought new & put a new engine on in 2018 & the 90 still has the original engine on it the 85 will get a restoration in 2023. These Snappers are worth rebuilding ! It's cheaper than buying a new one . Just as long they are in good shape when you buy them.
I believe 1977 was the only year the belt cover on the deck was Red , that machine is certainly pre 1980's , the model number is probably 3081 S , there should be tag under the left side of the seat with the model and serial numbers , these machines are Great machines Much tougher than anything you could buy today , I have a 1975 model with a Briggs Engine
And by 1982, the Tecumseh Engines decal you're seeing on top of the blower housing was no longer printed on a merely white background, but on a mylar silver background.
If your going to make a how to video of a dirty carburetor you should show how to remove it and the actual steps how the carburetor it to be taken apart and resemble. Just a thought " the music could have been trashed
I had one of these thing's with a B&S 5hp on it, I put that thing through hell, I had an old junk yard that I cut the grass in constantly finding finding old car parts that worked there way out of the ground with my old snapper. I eventually had to make a new skirt out of 1/4 steel plate. I punish that old goat for 12 years in the junk yard before the friction wheel gave out. I still have a hard time believing the trials I put that thing through. There are one tough little machine. If the mad max fury road apocalypse ever happens I'm getting me an other one of theys demon's.
Just looked...they are $8.59 on Amazon. Just do a search for a HM80 carburetor. That is the model of the Tecumseh motor on this mower. You have to look at the throttle linkages and whatnot to make sure you can make it fit.....but that's what I did.
