What's the one area of your car that sustains the most damage on a daily basis? It's a toss up: the nose cone OR the underside along the rockers and the rear fender. Stones, grit, ground garbage that get thrown up by your wheels inflict a lot of damage to those hard-to-see areas. Mud Flaps are the answer. Are these the ones for you? TIP: they are VERY easy to install - not like power trunk struts :)

Thank you for the excellent video. I Purchased a pair of mudflaps from the rideshare shop. Very similar design but they had one screw to put in. I found it easier to simply remove the back wheel when doing that portion. Living in a cold-weather climate I find them to be a necessity. We’ll see how they work on the new car. Thanks again for being thorough. Thank you also for the additional information on the cameras from the last video. Keep up the great work!

Looks like the Farasla mud guards are a great addition. I got some for my M3 from Basenor 👎 The kit did not include the double-sided tape so I will have to go back and add that (not a solid fit). I was also not impressed with Basenor’s lack of customer service when I had to call about getting some extra snap rivets (no response). If I’d do it again, I’d go with Farasla. Thanks for another great video⚡️

I did not know if I would like the mud flaps, but have had them on for about 6 months now. Though the winter on salt and gravel roads. Also have driven on dirt and gravel roads. They work great and I have not had any damage to the paint. I thought I would take them off in the summer but my Tesla being also red the black blends in with the tires, etc. Looking at the car from the rear I feel it looks more sporty.
@model3man
@model3man 4 года назад
John Hagin - after just two days of having them on, I feel EXACTLY the way you described in your comment. And really, why not add just that little extra level of protection which costs almost nothing to buy and blends in so well that it’s hardly noticeable at all!

One of the main reasons we love the Tesla is it’s design. I would add nothing to it. Nothing. But then I am a minimalist. Great post.

Nice job as usual Peter. Coincidently, I just installed mud flaps from another vendor yesterday. I like them but they don't seem as secure as yours, also had to drill to install a screw thru the wheelwell fabric. Keep up the great videos, they are very useful. Stay safe!

Hi Peter, have been following you for a long time; thank you for all your very informative episodes (the V11 UI suggestions is especially a great one, hope that Tesla will listen). I have a M3 LR RWD, June 2018 and still love her. However, I did not put on the rear mud flaps and would love to hear if your "FARASLA'S" are still holding up and would you recommend still installing that brand/make. Many thanks in advance, Milos
@model3man
@model3man 2 года назад
Hi Milos. Thanks for your kind words. Yes, all four mudflaps are still firmly in place and have never loosened since the time I installed them. We’ve gone through snow, lots of water and slush and they have definitely protected the rocker panels and the rear quarter end. Since I’ve only used the Farasla flaps and not any others I can’t speak in an educated way on alternate choices, but I can say that the Farasla flaps have stood up completely well and I have no reason to be unhappy with them

Nice Job. I'd might remove the rear wheels for better access myself in a year or two, when the M.i.G. model Y is available in Europe. Should protect against the wear a normal user would see after 8 years (Tech forum's vid) I hope they have a slightly smaller version too?

Didn't notice any views directly from the rear of the car where cars approaching or parked behind the car would be looking. I would also be curious if the efficiency is affected at all since they are like small air dams on each wheel well? I try not to use my Model 3 when there is snow on the road but even when the road is wet, these could help with the amount of mess that is thrown on the sides and back of the car. I'll look for a follow up on if this helps keep the side and rear cameras cleaner.

I'm going to take some photos like the ones you suggested and will simply show them at the start of an upcoming Tip of the Day episode and you can see them that way. I will also do some tests on range and see if that is materially affected by the mud flaps

The car actually some could say looks better with the mud flaps it has more of a presence. Before I got my model 3 my friend and I both had Acura T L's, identical white cars, but mine had mud flaps from the factory in hers didn't. I liked the more intense look of the mud flaps gave it sort of in aero package look I if you will yet they were no different than the ones you just installed on your model 3 additionally checking the rocker panels on my friends car I noticed weymore chipping from tire debris hitting the body the mud flaps were definitely effective good call. I got very similar, if not the same, mudflaps (but without the double sided tape) on AliExpress for about $8(us). One additional step i took was to put a layer of clear paint protection film underneath the mudflaps completely covering the paint that touches the mudflap plastic. If dirt, mud, dust etc gets between the paint and mudflaps, vibration will cause abrasions between the mudflap and paint.

Another great episode Peter! I fitted mudflaps to my Model 3 within a few days of collecting it last September. Although I got these mudflaps from a different company to yours via Amazon.co.uk, they look absolutely identical to ones that you have fitted. My mudflap kit even came with eight additional rivets like yours. I think the car looks way better with these mudflaps fitted than without them. I can also report that they've done a great job keeping mud and debris off the sides and back of the car, especially through the exceptionally wet weather that we had last winter in the UK.
