He's got a pretty solid baritone voice. If you're just excitedly talking and having a good time seems like pitch can drift up Worked with a guy who was probably a low baritone or bass. At work his voice was higher softer just kind and gentle guy. Outside of work he sounded way more southern California and half an octave deeper at least
@@nick-müsc it's from being warmed up. For lows you relax your folds so they open a bit more. Notice how after a lot of highs your voice has a natural rasp for a little bit? I think that's from your folds being used to getting pulled closer so they tend to vibrate closer to that shape even after screaming for a short time. Also, some mics just make people's voice feel deeper based on the response. My Sennheiser makes me sound deeper than a Shure 58. Minimally, but it's there.
His approach is almost like an opera singer very unique and brilliant. He is way more technical than he gives himself technique for. Very tough to keep his voice together doing what he is doing. I used to do vocals for a metal band and i wish i havd spent more time on developing techniques to save my voice
Will has obviously put way more hours into practicing than any of us. I used to front a melo-death metal band as well. How he constantly switches his techniques and tones in the course of the whole set without tiring his tongue and diaphragm still boggles my mind.
@@Oryyyt your probably right Will definately treats his voice like an instrument. Also doesnt hurt when your born with a natural ability to sound like a demon at will 😂 his breath control is amazing he has refined growls and screams. How he maintains his tone and range through a set is crazy. LS songs are not easy
@@jeromesimon8916 I just hope now that his vocals will stand the test of time. Mitch Lucker, Oli Sykes among others suffered because of their lack of technique. Will seems to have it down, but he also does so many things at once. Surely it can be taxing,
@@Oryyyt true as we age some of that ability does go with time. Doing highs and lows in every song is super demanding on the vocal chords. Whon knows maybe he may just pull it off corpse grinder is still doing and sounds sick wish him all the best
@@jeromesimon8916 you never know man, when you get older your voice gets deeper so this isn't even his peak, theoretically. And after the throat camera and vocal pros saying it looks completely safe, hell prob be fine especially with all the care he takes. I guarantee those other vocalist didn't do half of what he does for preservation. Not to discredit them, good vocals are good vocals, sometimes you only get a small window to experience them though.
@@amavasya5884 It's a shame how little Travis is brought up. He was doing this before a lot of these youngins were even born lol. That includes the snarl type thing will does in this song. Will is definitely sick, but what Travis is doing nowadays is even more impressive imo. It's insane that Travis has been doing it as long as he has but only gets better, and better over time.
For real. You can hear him miss some notes. He's just using triggers (which is standard), and is doing a double stroke roll on the kick. I play this exact same double kick tempo every day just warming up lol. Once you get double strokes down on your kick, it's insanely easy, and takes very little stamina.
@@ethangarrison4265 both share the same similarities in that they are pushing extreme vocals to the mainstream media and making metal even more popular or even just understood. Both also happen to be extremely well rounded human beings, will must be protected at all cost!
That is fucking badass! I've never been to one of their concerts, and i was very curious if he sounded the same live vs in studio. He truly does sound like a demon to me.
apart from everything else i love how he could be such a master in what he's doing and his techniques and at the same time so chill and humble that he says repeatedly that he's not an expert, has no idea what he's talking about theoretically and is just speaking from his own experience, amazing person right here
