Your becoming good at this mechanical wizardry Phil 👌🏻and a good vibe to end the year on mate , here’s to a new year of less illness, more car’s and vids 🍾🥂.
You should try Allfords recycling in Speke for your bumper. Failing that, you have the top part of the bumper inside the car, then why not try plastic welding it back together. It might work and with a little filler, you never know. It'll save a few quid as well. Anyway ,good luck with the build. 👍👍
Lioking foward to seeing this one finished phil loving all the vids over the holidays keep up awe the good work mate and have a great new yesr when it comes
Sulphated lead acid batteries do charge up but need a trickle charge for a day or 2. When i worked at a ford main dealer we had 20 cars with totally flat batteries which wouldn't charge off the alternator. Ford paid for new ones but didn't want them back.I trickle charged them and made a lot.1st the needle wouldn't move, then after a day the needle rose to max and after a day went slowly back down as the batteries became fully charged.Could probably fast charge once trickle charger upto 4 amps but never tried to.
whats frustrating we all have scrap yards where we live with a potential to have parts that others need, yet a good deal of them never advertise what they have nor sort parts so we end up on e bay or just searching for an online source ie breaker etc.
Hi Phil. If your ever struggling for fiesta parts try Gala motors in Essex. If they dont have it no one will. And they deliver and good prices and brilliant service. I use them all the time.
Another great job,i worked in motor spares for years, just a quick note,if you get a new'ish car battery already fitted in the car,if it has no charge, put it on a slow charge for a few hours,if you run the engine on a flat battery,it can almost certainly kill the battery, lets find out soon,if you went to cardiff....
Been with you from the start Phil, bit too much time lapse, your pal turned up but what was the problem. Still think you're doing a sound job! Keep it up mate and maybe drop a bike fix in. You can't keep teasing with the KTM. Happy New Year.
Nice one Phil. I knew you'd struggle with that plastic pipe fitting - I've tried fixing / replacing those 🤬🤬🤬🤬 things a few times, and it never ended well. It's like they use "melt once" plastic pipes and you can't just reheat them. I ended up with the same solution as you. 👍
If you come via shrewesbury towards leomster hereford ur on way straight a470 to cardiff or same distance go right a465 to swansea try pic up spares here also do salvage
Could have picked that bumper up for you and met you on m6 as was running up that way last week on nights. Was loading out of Cardiff plus its only 24 miles from me.Failing that could have stuck it on a pallet and overnighted it for 45 quid.
@@SeriousAboutSalvage yeh I had to same so stopped doing the cars all together. Iockdown especially when they hid damage on pictures and couldn’t go and view. I think synetiq have lower fees to
Hiya, don't know if you/anyone noticed...but when you got out of car at 15 minutes, after first start up with vacuum pipe fitted....the rev counter was at 1000...but as you got out it dropped to zero? ...but could still hear engine running...another fault?...lovely car by the way, hopefully another very quick and profitable one for you
That can happen when the battery is basically dead on the car, just enough to keep the engine running but not creating enough to power everything else up, they sort them selves out once a little charge in them 👍
@@SeriousAboutSalvage Thanks for replying, today in between rain showers, I managed to finish fitting my Golf mk4 tdi 130 clutch master cylinder( poxy job involving ridiculous contortions under/in engine bay to refit pipe securing clip) was stranded on welsh mountain for 8 hours for recovery, followed a day later by me losing my wallet, on 21st December :( which unfortunately was also my birthday :( finally got new debit card today so can now "celebrate" :) good luck with the St, doesn't need much doing to get a nice profit for you, personally I think you've cornered the market in 2nd hand St bumpers :)
Have you tried buying a new bumper from Ford...I've found that genuine parts are sometimes the same price or cheaper than patern or secondhand parts, some breakers are just plain gready.... you would only have to buy the upper grille, the lower ones should be able to be removed from the old bumper
Is generally the colour match that is the issue, buying second hand in colour guarentees colour match. Reds are difficult to match when painted as well.
How far was it to go and pick up the more expensive bumper Phil ? It would be nice to see a cambelt change, it will be due at 10 years old and you will definitely sell it easier
Off topic love watching the video, can I ask what compressor and spray gun you use, was thinking of purchasing one, has I have a bumper and bonnet to respray, don’t want to use cans.
@@SeriousAboutSalvage thanks very much il check back on your videos, found your channel and subscribed about 3-4 days ago, absolutely love it, thanks for the quick reply, regards Jason
The only problem with that Dave is the colour wouldn't match, its very hard to match these reds with original parts. I may end up buying any bumper and having it painted but ill have to get the paint blended into wings and bonnet to get it to look right.
Wear your tool trolley gone it save your legs you spend to much time walking forward and backwards.fo.the lights on the dash battrry light on because battery had it or flat!!!!
Hi, Watch all your videos which are great content but a couple of things really annoy me. 1 why don't you fit a diesel to the workshop? so cheap and will stop you sniffing so much. 2 when you remove parts put them on a shelf not on the floor all around you as you spend more time stepping over stuff. 3 take the bonnet of first ffs. sorry if this sound negative but it will make your life so much easier ! ( oh and put a whistle keyring on the torch) 🙂
Whistle keyring is a good shout haha. I deliberately don't remove the bonnets becouse quite often the cars have to go outside during the day and the bonnet stops alot of the elements (rain etc ) getting on the engine and wiring. I don't bother with a heater because the unit isn't insulated and is very well ventilated on the roof, heat just goes straight out 👍
