Author and professor of contemporary thought at Brunel University, Will Self has a message for people treating their property as cash-cows, and talks about the demonisation of social housing. .
People don't like Will Self because he give truth bombshells. They call him smug and condescending because the truth is, 'you are not smart because you make money from renting rooms in your property.' People seem to think they are so intelligent because they rent out rooms. You are not smart, get over yourself!
I don't like this man, therefore he is wrong arguments. He cannot have an opinion on this topic because I think he is from the wrong class of people and apparently you need to be from the right background to have any authority or opinion of something.
A quick Google search will take you to his page at Brunel University, which states: “Will Self writes often on the practise of psychogeography - the relationship between the individual psyche and the built environment - and he teaches a course at Brunel on this subject, the first in the UK. He is currently researching a new course on reading: its history, practise, and the impact on it of digital reading formats.” So it seems to me you could probably pigeonhole him as being a humanities/sociology/modern history professor. I assume he didn’t come up with his job title.
Waffling Will Self, author of many wordy books carries on here. Comfortable background, Oxford educated , owns a valuable home, has a net worth of £3 million and ensures he own privately educated children are nicely placed in life. Effing labour hypocrite. Professor of "contemporary thought " LMAO
Alternatively: His parents separated when he was young, which likely pushed him towards hard drugs. He was an extremely curious teenager and he got into Oxford through intellect rather than connections. The fact that he is standing up for the disadvantaged should be admired, it would be far easier for him to stay quiet and keep to his (now) cushy lifestyle.
@@sb_dunk "The fact that he is standing up for the disadvantaged should be admired, it would be far easier for him to stay quiet and keep to his (now) cushy lifestyle." - Far less lucrative also, lets be honest.
@@schrodingersferret4092 If he gets paid a few hundred pounds to advocate for better wealth equality, I'm not going to complain. It would also be far more lucrative to write another book.
Be nice to see him practice what he preaches. Most people in a job can afford a house. Unfortunately most people want a house which is beyond their financial reach. There are plenty of cheaper houses but nobody wants to live on sink estates for a few years and then move up.
Are you kidding? The majority of people claiming benefits are IN WORK but on shitty wages and cannot afford a mortgage (thanks to price gouging and rent profiteering)
Completely ignores the point that, with a declining indigenous population, without mass uncontrolled immigration, house prices would be declining in value. Also, the Coucil houses built post war are very good quality and people did aspire to live in and look after them (not all). They were, however, held the account by the Coucils and the police etc. As the left progressively gave working class people a sense of victimhood and ignored social problems, the less desirable council houses became.
why do you think the "indigenous population" (which you aren't btw, i am i'm celtic, you're probably french or german or something) is declinging? BECAUSE PEOPLE CANT AFFORD TO RAISE A FAMILLY!!!
@@afgor1088 The Normans to which you refer were actually of Scandinavian origin and you have no idea of my background. The indigenous population tend to have less children because we have a civilised culture that allows women to make choices and they're not forced to be a conduit for producing children for a religious or political ideology. Without uncontrolled mass immigration, therefore, houses would be plentiful and affordable. This has, however, pushed prices so high that women who have choices are leaving it longer to have children in order to get on the housing ladder. This does not apply to migrants from other cultures who are happy to live on benefits while they produce more and more children that overpopulates the country (and world) even more.
