Will Self is sublime in his analysis of 'events', and deals only with fact based opinion (as opposed to speculation, prejudice and sheep like ignorance). His brilliant mind that can eviscerate the lies, sanctimony and 'holier than thou' tones from any debate has to be lauded.
I wouldn't like to be stuck in a lift with Wll,as much as I like him winding people up and I love to hear his choose of words but have a difficult pessimistic teenager at home if I want to listen to childish rants. Will,it his time you made an arse of yourself.
Will Self has integrity.Gove reminds me of the chap in a uniformYou turn right and you turn left to a certain place. He will always say I had to cover my back I did my duty.Very dodgy character.
"Well lets take it outside, where you like to do err your errrrmm errr....(Awkward) " It would have been nice if Gove continued to press that drug addled fool for a coherent response. Given the quality of Self's previous remarks, that may have taken some time.
bufton6 not sure if your trying to take the piss or what...im making a point bout left wing anti war people, who cry bout war but then scream that something needs to be done in some conflict zone around the world.
colin moore Generally speaking, it's not left wingers shouting for war and if they do it's usually in a humanitarian way - peacekeeping, ensuring food and water gets to those in need etc., so not actual war, really. Very few geunine lefties wanted to invade Iraq and Afghanistan etc.
"let's not speak from the high moral ground of your anticipated future loss" smoothly done. I've made this argument before with family members and friends (and I'm actually pretty right-wing) but it never seems to go very well
I've watched this a few times and agree with Lilith Moon. Gove is an awful person and was treated with the contempt he deserves. Brilliant comments from Will Self.
Gove acted with dignity and restraint after being personally abused by Self who came across and ill informed, flippant and ignorant. I am no great fan of Gove or Tories in generally, but he argued with respect, logic and precision, whereas Self just came out with shallow generalities and vague statements lacking any cohesion whatsoever, finally resorting to threatening behaviour.
I didn't once hear will self say he was anti-war. He was trying to have a debate about foreign policy and whether the war on terror was actually making the UK a more secure and better place. He also questioned blind faith in British intelligence; a crucial point considering MI6 lied about Iraq's nuclear programme. And I don't think Gove would be worth fighting. I mean would you want to beat a dog if you stepped in its shit. Likewise, despite the Shit pouring from Gove, highly unpleasant, but I doubt Will Self really meant he wanted a fight.
@@nifralo2752 Islamic extremism could of been contained by reducing the amount of enemies of western democracy. Instead war on terror created more enemies, more threats, more surveillance. All the while Putin and his Oligarchs were receiving the red carpet as international law was not put through due process, was bypassed, creating more chaos and human rights violations. They say your worst enemies in geo-politics are usually the most deceptive, and fraudulent people, e.g Putin. What Gove the bollock cheeked little tartan closet man lover (nothing against homosexuals, and he can keep it in the closet if he so wishes; although his cheeks are so inflated he could be conceived as living with two bollocks attached to the inside of his cheeks) misses is the importance of challenging decisions made by those in power, because they may have self-interests above national, international and democratic interests.
Exactly. We aren't actually a part of the wars that are taking place, yet we assist with both weapons and humanitarian aid. Maybe just the humanitarian aid, maybe even a bit more humanitarian aid, might have a more positive outcome for everyone in terms of trying to prevent/end overseas conflict? Because, terrorism aside, conflict in many areas of the world harms industry and trade. I don't put profits above people but for those who do, it still makes little sense to me why they don't do more to agitate for peace rather than conflict? Other than, you know, war is really good leveling ground once there's nothing left to legitimately exploit.
To be fair, a war can cause hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions of innocent people to be killed or seriously harmed, whereas punching Michael Gove in the face would hurt nobody except himself and maybe his mother. Edit: I'm not at all advocating punching politicians, I'm just saying it's not quite a fair comparison with waging warfare.
It’s a bit rich for the Govester to accuse WS of cynicism given the lies he was quite prepared to give out to the public during the referendum debates for Vote Leave; this is not the only lies he spoke. He wonders why there are people who are cynical about political.
i'd love to see the whole episode! not in the uk now.. love the line about taking that women off her moral high ground of her anticipated future loss. will self was the better in that all day
The classic sign of a lost argument: not speaking at intervals and moving your head. Proof if proof were needed ... that you have no reasoning faculty.
Will Self is aptly named " Self" Arrogant middle-class metropolitan. He thinks he cannot be wrong a major failing in any human being. He despises working class and rural people. Again a flaw in his character, He doesn't have humour or the human touch like Peter Cook. I loved seeing Ian Hislop striking his colours while he sulked like spoilt child.
***** he refeered to wikipedia as a credible source, then attacked Gove for not controllig the info on there.....seriously? everyone knows any twat can edit wiki, like I say , i like will self but he was out his depth here, and clearly started to panic.
Gove wiped the floor with Will Self, as can be plainly seen in the unedited version where Will lowers his head and actually has nothing to say for once!
