I'm so proud of Addison and how she handled such hard news about her puppy. And Shelly and Jared did so amazing explaining it to her. I cried at how much love you all have for your animals and kids, and that you want the best for them all!

I am amazed by how mature Addison is about it all, I don’t even have a dog, far less a sick dog, and I wanted to cry. Got everything crossed for little Roxy! ❤

My lab had congenital heart failure at the age of six. I'm so glad you caught it at such a young age. I would find a cardiologist that specializes in this surgery. So sorry you have to go thru this.

The procedure she will be having is pretty routine (at least at the vet hospital here). You guys definitely made the right decision to go for it because after the surgery she can live a perfectly normal life. Honestly a PDA is one of the better heart diseases to have because it is curable (it’s pretty much the only one that is in dogs). ~From a vet student

So glad her murmur was caught early. Many years ago( about 45 ) I bought a teacup poodle and named her Cocoa she was sooo small, took her to the vet after buying her(8 weeks old) was told she had a heart murmur and before we could get her to the specialist vet the next week she passed away. Lots of love and prayers for Roxie, I think she will do amazing since she doesn't seem to be affected visually, she is active and playful where mine puppy was pretty lethargic.

Addison, my heart hurts right alongside you. As a dog mom of fur babies I know how much you love and treasure Roxy. Until the last 5 years I have been blessed with relatively healthy animals. I have a soon to be 17yr old toy poodle who has suffered trimmers due to fluid on his brain and requires medicine twice daily so he can live a comfortable life. I will be keeping Roxy and you all in my thoughts and prayers. Sending love and puppy hugs. Aubrey, cuddle and love your Misty while she heals. As a long time, multiple shih-tzus owner I feel your pain when they are not their normal self after surgery. Also, reinforce all her training constantly since every shih-tzu I have owned has had a stubborn streak that always needed positive reinforcement and encouragement. Incredibly smart but very determined to have their own way. Loved every one of them and miss them so much. Hugs and cuddles to Misty and hugs and prayers for a speedy recovery for Aubrey's peace of mind.

It’s tough when fur kids need surgery. The recovery and keeping them calm is hard when they’re used to being active. Found the best way for small ones was to keep them in a crate/kennel so they could rest w/o having others sniffing and licking incision or exciting them too much. My outdoor cat had to have surgery for a golf ball sized abscess on her back/spine area and be confined indoors in a small bathroom with a cone for 2 weeks due to drainage tubes & stitches. It was an experience for us all because she wasn’t used to being inside and had never used a litter box to our knowledge.

I am crying. I went through a similar terrifying situation but worse and rarer. My dog had a gallbladder leak and was a day from being put down no choice. My parents decided that with two daughters who loved her dearly to try and save her. Fortunately she lived a full year with happiness and passed away on June 30, 2016. I know how hard it is to see your dog or cat be hurt and wishing it was you not them. Addison keep up the positive attitude. Even if it doesn’t work out which I hope she makes it. Love her and keep her memory alive. I have my dogs paw print and tons of photos and talk about her story a lot.

I have a hard time taking my dogs in to get their teeth cleaned, stress! Think positive, and give your baby lots of love and keep telling her how strong and brave she is, and that she is a good girl.

Because I have a dog who is high energy, I would suggest getting a crate. To get the puppy use to it, before surgery. I know that it will go well and Addison will give her the best homecare.

So proud of Adderson, having an operation on Roxy will be the best thing you can do. As its worth doing as the alternative doesn't sound too good. I had a very small yorkie years ago, she was only about 3.5 lb so tiny. Anyway she had to have surgery for a liver shunt as the blood was going around her liver insted of through. I had to take her to a veterinary hospital as such a major operation, although they said they do at least one a week. Without it she would of had loads of fits & possibly died. I had the operation done & after that she was 100% fixed. Give Roxy loads of hugs from me & my Yorke Lily xxx

Addison, you handled that news so much better than I did and I have no real attachment to Roxy except through watching her on my phone. I will say that I have a dog, a border collie named Cheddar, he has put us through the wringer. His intestines bunched up and twisted when he was a puppy, he is epileptic (which can get very severe in herding breeds if it becomes unmanageable), we had a scare with leukemia AND cancer. Every time we got bad news with him, I bawled my eyes out!

You are definitely , doing the right thing by the puppy. It is her only chance of a long life. Oh these animals are such a worry to us all!! But she is a little live wire, and I think she has a good chance of recovery. Bless her heart xx

This is just too cute. You have no idea how many people here watch your videos. You guys are amazing. God bless you both! Being in my profession I see the worse, and losing my own 22 year old son to an accident last year I find that we must look at the best in a situation.

My husband's Rescue that is 13 now (we've had him for 4 yrs) has a heart murmur, which we didn't know about and unfortunately when they tested him, there's nothing they can do for him, except meds and continue giving him the best love we can., 😢

Aww Addy I'm sorry to hear about Roxy needing heart surgery! That is scary, but hopefully she'll make it through and live a long, happy life! My grandpa had a small dog, who also had a heart condition. His wasn't bad enough to need surgery though, but he were on medication for most of his life. He was a very happy little dog with lots and lots of energy, and a very fast learner! He lived to be 13 if I remember correctly, and had very little issues from his heart condition. I hope your little girl will be having a safe surgery, speedy recovery, and a long, happy life ahead of her! ❤ Also - I'm impressed by how maturely Addison handled it! I know at that age I would have just started crying and not being able to listen to my parents!

My dog had one took pills she was fine to 16 years please talk to a other doctor. We had to put her to sleep at 16 . Good luck hope it all goes well.

Definitely check with your local vet school and see if the surgery is something they can do. I know where I’m at our vet school is really great and can sometimes accommodate the really small and really big animals better.

When my yorkie was almost 3 she had to have emergency surgery on the spot and she is 9 now she has to take tummy medicine to keep the accite down in her tummy she still has bad days here and there but more good then bad though. Prayers for your puppy ❤️

I love that Shelly, you and Jared took Addison's opinion on what should be done with Roxie. Some people in this world would just say...I'm not paying to have that done...or "it's just an animal". If my kitty Zeuby-doo was in the same situation I wouldn't think twice about it, He would definitely have the surgery done. He is my baby and we have such good communication with each other, If I say go lay down, he lays down, If I ask him if he is momma's boy he comes up to me and purrs and cuddles and rubs all over me. If I say are you a good boy, he knows that means he is getting a treat and will go to his treat container and lay down for his treat. If he tries to bite me I say be gentle or don't bite and then he licks me. People don't realize that animals when paid attention to can learn commands and be like a real part of the family and not just an animal. So, from me and Zeuby-doo we love you and are praying for little Roxie. ❤❤🙏🙏

Quic enchiladas recipe- lay chicken taquitos in a pan and cook 7 minutes and then pour enchilada sauce and cook 7 minutes and then top with cheese and cook until golden brown…. Top with desired condiments and serve.. easy to make meal 🥘 for children to prepare
