"Black people tuned into see Will Smith" this incident totally took away from the fact that this was the first time it was produced by a black man and a black production crew and 2 black females hosting that was a greater moment than Wills win
The joke wasn't mean and wasn't a joke about alopecia; it was actually more of compliment. Will was just wired up because his wife has been emasculating him. Stop acting like were just so sensitive.
I totally agree. Jada has always worn her hair in a low cut and bald. There are a lot of people that don't follow her on social media to know she had alopecia. Will made at the wrong person. He needed to be home taking care of his woman rather than letting August take care of his wife. His anger was directed at the wrong person.
Except in this particular case Will Smith, and his wife in particular were very vocal about being let in. She was the main one talking about "Oscars so white." So if you're going to be asked to be invited to something, I think it is up to you to act like you've been somewhere before and act accordingly. This does apply to them.

"Everybody has a history of doing something wrong" AND THOSE WRONG THINGS ARE WRONG. We understand Will...WILL WAS WRONG. Good intention does not erase bad decision.
@Stock Starters you could say he is wrong if he knew about her condition. That would be a joke with negative intent. In which case he would be very wrong and rude. But we should not assign him negative motive just because it is easy to do. I didnt know about it, hes said that he didnt know about it, plenty of other people said they didnt know about it. G.I. Jane was not ugly, weak, or any other negative word you may want to assign. So why why would him referring to her be a bad thing and not just noting a similarity? Plus Jada having short hair is NOTHING new. There would be no difference in that and him saying "Black Panther 2, can't wait to see it" all the bald women in that movie were shown in a positive light. To take it negatively is not bad on Chris, that's bad on us, because there is nothing negative to take from that. But even if he did know and say that joke, there is still ZERO justification for what Will did. And that is the point of the debate, "Was He Right or Wrong" is about Will not Chris. When they do an episode on Chris then we can have that debate more thoroughly.
@Stock Starters Tell me some "attacks" besides the two oscar jokes?? Stop trying to start this stupid narrative. If Will really wantdd to fight he could have found Rock later. But he had no right to fight the man anyway over two jokes.
A few topics that’s are being ignored: 1. Roasting has been a tradition at the Oscars for a very long time. Chris Rock wasn’t the only comedian to roast a celeb that night, and Will & Jada weren’t the only celebs roasted. 2. Will & Jada’s relationship and personal issues have been broadcasted on Jada’s “Red Table Talk”. It has been her choice to make their personal lives public and it has changed the public opinion of both Will & Jada. If they are sensitive to criticism or jokes they need to understand much of that fault lays on their shoulders. 3. There needs to be a conversation on what protection is and appropriate protection. Is it right to protect someone from words with physical violence?

As one of many looking at the glass house from the outside, I have to consider the why. WS has spent his career building the brand that is quite impressive. If you look at how he has responded to various issues before (the bop "Mind Ya Business" comes to mind) - Why would he now jeopardize all that with an emotional burp? I don't subscribe to that thinking. That action was from a deep rooted place. CR did a whole ass movie on Black women and our hair. Whether you knew what condition JPS has or doesn't have is crazy because you know that our crown is our crown. Why would you even go there? Once it was known that his remarks were offensive, I hope that he reached out to JPS directly to apologize to her for that. Strategy/Calculation: Was CR consoled after leaving the stage? There was a great demonstration of making sure WS was okay and calmed down. In addition, he gave a long speech and wasn't interrupted along with a standing ovation. I'll say less . . . Those who have come out for or against have been quite telling in that it has actually drawn the line in the sand for some folks. Plus, there are others crawling out of the woodwork to "attach" themselves to the various narratives related to this story. Scandals are here today and gone tomorrow. However, this one has gone on too long and that is very disappointing.
Unless you watch red table talk or follow Jada on IG, you did not know she had Alopecia. Rock said he didn't know. The GI Jane joke was about her hairstyle which resembled that of the GI Jane character. Bottom line, Will could of handled that in the back. Kudos for Rock holding back because he could have gone in.
Do you think if it were a white woman that had a drastic hair change that he would have made a joke about her appearance? Why target someone who you disrespected years prior? What's the point in making fun of someone that you already talked negatively about
And Jada has always been known for short hair or bald type hairdos… she said it herself before the oscars that she was comfortable with her bald head… chris made a light homage to the look… now all of a sudden shes off limits? Majority of folks didn't know about her alopecia til the next day. Just because they air out all their business don't mean we all kept up with it. Chris did not know she shaved her head bald for that reason and he said that but thats the spin the media pulled for leverage on WS. Plus the video showing her laughing after he was slapped, she wasn't all that darn broken up about that joke CR said next about being slapped by WS. I'm sure all this will blow over soon but that slap was deeper than that joke and I think WS misinterpret who Denzel was referring to as the Devil. Thats all I got to say.

I Love You Guys but I disagree. First, from someone that has an autoimmune disease, Chris Rock DID NOT ATTACK JADA PINKETT SMITH's ALOPECIA. Chris saw a beautiful black woman, with a shaved head (that she rocked way before Alopecia...remember Set It Off) wearing a green dress at an event that is about movies and referenced G.I. Jane because Jada reminded him of that movie and Demi Moore was stunning, just as Jada is. Now if Chris would have said, "Yo Jada, that Alopecia is going to work out for you...GI Jane 2 is coming and I can't wait to see it" then that would have been an attack on her health which would not have been cool. Yall are forgetting that Regina Hall directly attacked or made fun of their relationship when she said, "Jada you approved Will." So did they react to that...if they do it would probably be behind closed doors. And remember none of us are perfect and I have read Will's book and he has a lot of internal issues that he continues to struggle with. Will would not have attacked Jimmy Fallon, Katt Williams or Kevin Hart and the goes on on as he knew who he could do it too and not have a reaction. This situation could have gone further left and everybody is not built like Chris...his brother Tony Rock has told everybody this is the year of POP and at the end of the day it was not cool, it was immature, selfish, disrespectful, and the most degrading thing you can do to another person, let along a black person. Back in the day slaves slapped our people, not punched them, but slapped because that is the most disrespectful thing you can do to show our ancestors they are not worthy, they are not valued and how/what they think/feel about them. I love Will and his talents are unlimitedless but I am disappointed and I pray for him. I don't believe in telling anyone what to do but I suggest that he needs to move from the Red Table and lay on someone's red couch and get the help he needs. Finally, the REAL OG is Chris Rock because he showed professionalism, control and Thank God he displayed that as Will Smith does not define what we, especially black men, are seen as in society's eyes which is aggressive, mean, violent and scary. What Will did is on Will and Chris Rock's response that night and continued response of silence, until he has processed it, speaks volumes. We do not know what we will do or how we will react in a situation but assault and violence is NEVER Ok, periodt!
What kills me is that the majority of people taking Will/Jadas side was laughing they ass off when Dave Chapelle was talking about transgenders. The joke was about as soft as jokes can get and everyone tripping.
Bad example. Chris didn't talk in general about women with short hair. He spot specifically about a man's wife, who's battling an illness, in a public setting amongst her peers. It's no side to take. It's childish to even consider sides. Husband defending embarrassed wife with a slap shouldn't be that off base. If your wife's honor isn't worth fighting over, what is. We've seen worse.

It was personal to him and OK to let people know that he can't accept that joke and it hurts. It's up to Jada to decide what to do and draw the boundary. It's their freedom to react and feel whatever, then express. And joke by famous comedian can be contagious. I don’t think Chris knew about her issue with hair loss. There was definitely a bigger issue with the slap than what is talked about on the surface.
Say it loud. Early childhood trauma is where the focus should start. What components made Will act the way he did. Jada also has Childhood trauma. It's called the "human magnet syndrome". This syndrome is outlined in the book by that very name. It is written by Dr. ROSS ROSENBERG. I wish Will would read it and start his healing. Oh boy, the pain in his eyes. Oh boy, the pain that is to come. It will be cringe worthy. But hopefully from this pain there will eventually be tremendous growth.

So by using this same logic. If everyone should've known about Jada's alopecia because it was "public information", then that means that everyone should've known that Chris Rock disclosed back in 2020 himself being diagnosed with NVLD (Non Verbal Learning Disorder). @@KingWatts_23 by being a comedian NVLD and being on one of the biggest televised platforms of all time I wouldn’t continue to be a comedian or even host if you’re telling me that I can’t control my social skills as an adult I wouldn’t put my self in that kind of stress At that point you just said you’re supposed to be the victim and you setting yourself up for failure now in his case but a grace of God it just happened to be his success but what are the chances of every person going through that Chris got extremely lucky from the situation the news will be covering it differently if it wasn’t Will Smith hadn’t been some random heckler that’s wheelchair-bound or cancer patient this situation will play out much different
Why does everyone think Chris Rock was the host? Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes were the hosts. CR was just giving an award to Questlove. One Love
@@itsyaaveragegirl joking about Will is fine, she left her girl Jada alone. Plus, Regina and Jada did Girls Trip together so Regina wasn't going to Clown about hair. One Love
I hate how it’s like “he got fed up” like nooooooo. JADA WAS THE ONE THAT WAS FED UP, WILL just wanted to prove to Jada he got her back. Just didn’t do it the proper way.
Finally some real 1's speak with atleast some understanding even if u don't agree. Its krazy how judgemental people are of a man who has had 30 years of being the idea black man, yet was being disrespected & mocked that entire 30 years mostly by black people. Mfs who will fight over a parking spot all of a sudden be so holy. Mfs act like the Oscar's is heaven. Sounds like when black people wanted that "White folks water cause its colder" when it was the same exact water. So if this was the source awards, it'll be kool? The fact that it took Will & Samuel L Jackson 30 years to get an Oscar shows U how much they think about black people. This basically shows that no matter how good u try to be, u make 1 mistake & people will throw u under the bus. Alot of the people who trippin so hard are cowards or haven't had a solid relationship. People getting the timelines wrong so that's why their off. No 30 year marriage is perfect & the majority of the world knew it, so that had nothing to do with this. Will already told that man stop making his wife the butt of his jokes. Say what u want about me but stop targeting my wife. It's not like he's just a random comedy, they've been knowing each other 25 yrs so out of respect chill out. So when I tried to talk as a man behind the scenes u didn't respect it so u got what u got. This proves my point that some people don't respect nothing but violence like Pac & Suge said "Fear is stronger than love"
Jada's actions sabotaged what should have been one of the most prolific nights of her husband's career. He was trying to defend her honor. Had she laughed it off, Will would have received his Oscar and had a great moment in history. Jada chose to make it about her, instead of the man she is supposed to love and support.
THAT PART. she should have tried to stop him from ruining one of the best nights of his life. I would have jumped on his back to prevent him from going up there.
Jadas actions? She didn't slap anyone! Wtf are you talking about. So you saying black men have no self control and can't think for themselves? Wtf! That's weak
She has made it a habit of making him look like a simp. They need to really start keeping in house business in their house! Cause frfr I’m tired of Jada’s hypocrisy “our beauty isn’t defined by our hair” but here you are making it an issue
Was it a disrespectful comment or are we tagging it as disrespectful because of Jada’s alopecia and our automatic way of processing? If you know the story of G I Jane, she was a bad ass played by beautiful Demi Moore. If I think of a strong, beautiful woman with a buzz cut, I would absolutely think of Jada. With that in mind, how is Chris’ comment disrespectful? Why do we automatically process something as negative? Maybe Jada rolled her eyes because Chris talked about her at all or maybe she was tired of being the brunt of jokes for the night? How does her attitude make his comment disrespectful?
He didn't mean it as a compliment. It was a display of disapproval of the hairstyle. Something "black" women in particular have been made insecure about their entire lives. That's why they wear hair that isn't theirs.
@@hotepkennels We wear wigs/weave because we can. Those same wigs/weave are worn due to developing alopecia from wearing those items. Jada looked beautiful and it was a compliment in my opinion. I totally agree with the original post.
@@hotepkennels how do you know what his intent was? He said what he said wasn’t bad. Why do you automatically think it’s bad and associate it with Black woman’s hair struggle? If she had a problem with having no hair, she would wear a wig, but instead she rocks the buzz and looks damn good with it. Him associating her with GI Jane by itself is not necessarily a bad thing.
@@jlobryan6566 The intent doesn’t matter. Only how it’s received. He wasn’t praising her. Only making a joke about a look that he knows he shouldn’t as he’s done a documentary on it. A wig would’ve only made it worse. She’s ALWAYS worn her REAL hair in REAL life. Having to wear a wig would only mean she owns it, less and is insecure about it.
All humans have a breaking point, and 1 bad decision should never whip out all the greatness you put out and love and positivity you have showed, in fact all the love that he has shared should be given back at the time he needs it the most
