In the liner notes of the physical album she describes the breaking up with Joe/dating Matty times as a manic phase, so at least she’s somewhat self aware. I do like the album but see how it’s not for everyone. I’d love to hear more about Matty. It seems like he’s been lingering in the background all these years and is the inspiration for more than we ever knew. I also wouldn’t be surprised if she has issues with her dad. I believe he was involved in a lawsuit with one of her former managers, and there were some really cringey emails released that basically showed he sees Taylor as a commodity and how much anger and resentment he had for her mom.

I see Taylor Swift as a person who is dealing with a lot of repressed childhood trauma and dysfunctional family dynamics but is dealing with it unconsciously and doesn't even know what she's dealing with or why she feels the way she feels (which can make her kind of dangerous to be in any type of relationship with). I think she's actually very fascinating, though I probably wouldn't want to be her friend (though I hear from people I know who have worked for her that she's lovely in person). I think she's actually meant to be a very provocative person and that's part of her role here in this lifetime. The problem is she doesn't lean into that enough. I think that's what she means when she calls herself a "people pleaser"; she naturally has a personality that is meant to repel some people and make people uncomfortable (fun fact: growth is not comfortable and people who are provocative change things in the world) but she doesn't want to embrace that because she thinks that means that no one will love her and she has significant abandonment issues. I also think her family isn't too different from Britney Spears's family, they're just better at looking more polished. BUT if she would just be more true to herself and lean into her true nature and be a lot more provocative, she'd attract the right people for her anyways. I also think Matty Healy is far more her type than anyone even realizes but she is afraid of what that would do to her image and public perception (they supposedly hooked up in 2014 and then dated briefly in 2023. Supposedly "Peter" and the title track of the album are about him; not Joe). She's afraid to really be the edgy, psychologically and emotionally damaged woman she is because she doesn't want to be seen as "messed up" but that's how people are starting to view her anyways. It's almost like the universe will make you face your deepest shadows and psychological wounds through your life experiences if you refuse to look at and solve them on your own... Oh, wait. That's because it does :P

I love Taylor and have been here for her since he Debut album, but she needs to take a break to re-assess herself and work on her. I’m very disappointed and sad by that. I think she is struggling with mental illness and desperately needs a break. I acknowledge that she is so famous and I can’t imagine that level of constant scrutiny or even feedback on my life, and many fans are toxic, but it’s not like we objected to matty healy for some silly reason. her fans of color were saying they felt unsafe and it was a slap in the face. And then when she addresses it it’s basically yelling at and scolding the fans without accountability. And i acknowledge that she nor anyone is perfect, but like she alluded to, she has built her fan base in such a way that it feels personal and it’s hard to separate her and her life from the music and her relationship with fans. I think some of us, like myself, just want to support a decent person who isn’t co-signing terrible things with someone she’s dating- and then not acknowledging it at all, and then getting angry at us was not helpful.
