Awesome top notch video as usual! Ran this trail solo in a lifted (1.5") KK Liberty a few years ago and it was definitely worthy of the "difficult" rating. The Liberty did make it through undamaged but took lots of patience and thought picking the right lines.
Extremely grateful for this monumental effort and presentation! Thanks to you for the education, virtual tour and vicarious pleasure of experiencing Colorado from 2000 miles away. :)
My work is being insane right now, so I’ll likely be on a train when this goes live and is rendered (it was 30GBs). Sean will likely be around and he will likely respond to any questions or comments! We’ll try to get back to weekly videos soon, but I hope you guys like this one in the meantime. Also, check out some of the older videos, I’ve always tried to put out the best video I could make. Mount Blanca Trail Guide should be the next full trail guide, but I’ll have other shorter videos up before it because I have so many trails you guys should know! I mean, just yesterday, we took a non-Trailhawk Renegade on Santa Fe Peak and well, it was a wild time! We’re also filming holy cross this week too and I’m as anxious as I was for Mount Blanca for that!
Thank you! I had to call off since they were doing weird stuff and I would have been stuck in a hotel for Friday’s wheeling session… I’ll deal the repercussions of that later, but now I get to plan a killer video shoot 😂
Very nicely done! I love the different camera angles and the drone shots. I can tell the Trail has gotten a little more chewed up since the last time I ran it. What great information you’re giving. That was a fun watch!
I have a 2021 Trailhawk V6 with 30.6 inch KM3s and the Dobinson's suspension. If you're ever in Southern California or I'm ever in Colorado, I would love to wheel with you and Sean. I've learned a lot from watching you guys tackle these tough trails.
I love my Trailhawk! The only time it has refused to go where I wanted, was either steep as hell and icy, or when it was wet snow deep enough for it to toboggan up on top of and high center! Other than that, little SOB has blown me away. Goes where my F-150 won't, and usually without losing much traction.
@@coloradomallcrawlers it's the 2nd quickest, 3rd fastest vehicle I've owned, and it will go where my side by side gets dicey...... I know it's a helluva conglomoration of companies techs and all, but I love the little bastard...... turbo 4 has not been a disappointment, either.
Great work as always! I gotta say, I really appreciate you bring multiple types of off roaders so we get an aidea how capable they are and how they will handle on the trail.
Been waiting to see this one and it was well worth the wait! Glad to see Sean come back and overcome this challenge. Something I aspire to continue doing myself. “Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.” - Robert F. Kennedy
I LOVE this video! Sean is AWESOME in that Trail Hawk! Please start leaving the text description boxes up for just a few seconds longer. Again, GREAT WORK!
Thank you! The video is designed to keep moving, but I’ll consider it. I’ve just always figured people can pause it, that’s what I do when I watch video making videos with text info. Thanks for the feedback!!
Thank you! As we get bigger, I’m hoping to get more variety out there with me… but I just put my stock Liberty through the ringer so it may be my new trail vehicle since it’s on 29s in 2023.
Fun fact , ALL trail rated Jeeps have hill descent control (but not many have selec speed aka crawl control) selec speed is one of the cool things about the Cherokee Trailhawk. I don't think any of the Wranglers have it except for maybe the 392? I don't recall what other Jeeps have it but it's not many.
Modern trail rated Jeeps, the liberty is trail rated and doesn’t have hill descent. I think all the wranglers with automatics have crawl control, but I’m not sure. They do have hill descent. Manuals don’t have any of that tho.
Awesome looking trail. I'd love to ship my ute over and have a red hot go. In Australia, we call the bypass a 'Chicken Track'. Perhaps you do to, I don't know.
I haven’t heard that term… I just call them bypasses and we usually only use them in case of problems (or here, to make the trail more enjoyable for Sean as he still had bad memories from before, but his KL could do all the non-bypasses). How hard is it to rent a Jeep or capable 4WD and go exploring in Australia? I’d love to see your country and I have flight benefits. So a few of us are thinking of going there in Late April/Early May when I have vacation. We just started trying to figure this out so we might be behind on planning. Considering Africa too as I know I can rent an outfitted 4WD there. Anyway, thanks for watching and hope you visit Colorado… I wouldn’t worry about shipping tho. We have plenty of Jeep/OHV rental companies here. We also have turo altho those are private owner vehicles so there may be a no off-road rule.
@@coloradomallcrawlers you can hire down here as far as I know. I couldn't give you any details though. I think one place is the top of Queensland in the place called Cape York. They have the Old Tele Track. I'd just like to try my own vehicle on foreign tracks to see how it goes.
Wonderful job, Dewie! Thank you. One suggestion on the editing would be to relocate either your COMallcrawler Icon in the lower right or the text boxes that occasionally pop up. They are overlapping each other no matter how I size the screen.
Hmmm, I don’t have a Colorado Mallcrawler logo in the edit. RU-vid may be doing that, I’ll see if I can see what your seeing. What are you watching it on?
@@coloradomallcrawlers How's the strike situation going? Hope things get resolved for all our sakes! $2 Billion a day in costs and another increase in inflation is not something to take lightly! Good luck!!!
We’re not sure, but Railroaders don’t take it lightly either. However our CEOs say we don’t contribute to their profits so it shouldn’t matter. I think most of us are fine with the contract, but our current work situation is not sustainable (I’m home for 10 hours, then left to rot in a hotel for 20-30 hours, can’t get a personal day approved and if you layoff, you’re brought up on attendance charges, and I could go on and on). We currently have 20 year guys on the verge of quitting because the current work situation is so bad… the only saving grace is that the job is great. I still love to get called on a train and get it somewhere, but not even I will stay with them if they don’t address the issues. That’s what we’re currently fighting for, some balance.
@@coloradomallcrawlers I sympathize with you, Dewey. Most companies don't seem to give a crap about their employee's quality of life even though they say they do. We're all just a disposable asset and slaves to the corporations that make billions at our expense. I really enjoyed my job but the 50-80 hour weeks got really old. Retired now and my current archnemesis is the stock market. Hang in there and hope the environment improves for your sake! Thanks for the update!
3in lift and KM3s. More specifics are on the vehicle info screen in this video (during the intro) and we have a walkaround of this KL. Thanks for watching!
I think this time we just took Handcart (Webster Pass South Side) down… but I don’t recall exactly tho. Either way is easy, it just depends on if you want to take i70 or 285 back to the front range. Handcart does have a somewhat sketchy (just pretty narrow) section… Drew and I filmed a guide of Webster to be edited.
Thanks buddy! Yeah same here, I almost went back solo to re-film some stuff, but I ended up not having the time. Also, I put you on the group for Holly Cross in case you decide to join us… that’s going to be way more organized than yesterday lol.
Anyone that leaves a group member stranded broke down on a trail is a coward. I'll never leave my freind or even just someone I just met traveling in a group like that. No respect for people like that.
What are you talking about? Sean was never left alone, but we had to decide on how to get off the trail. Instead of three going against the flow of traffic, we sent one with the plan to meet up at the bottom. Sean is very capable on his own, but he was never going to be left here on this trail alone. If you’re taking what I said in this video, it was in retrospect and what I meant is Sean would camp here while I tracked down a Trailhawk tire and brought it up to him. That’s in retrospect as I from this experience learned his tie rod couldn’t take being limped down. If referencing Jason going, he didn’t need to be here and would have stayed. I sent him off because more vehicles would create more difficulty.
@@comptonoverland7442 “coward” okay tough guy this isn’t a battle lol. We literally sent him to a spot to meet him after the trail. I guess we could send 3 rigs the opposite way down a 1 way trail next time if that makes you feel better?
It was very easy in the wrangler, how did you come to that assessment? I love FJs, but I never locked the wrangler and I never slipped in the soft stuff while the FJ did. Also, the Cherokee had no issues. It was only tough for Sean because of a previous experience here. So I’m just a bit confused by your assessment. My videos aren’t meant to be a competition as we are all there for each other, but I do want them to accurately portray the trail. I feel like I failed in that goal if that’s how you saw this video.
Amazing. Trailhawk landed hard on the rail, jeep should send him some goodies. What kind of comm gear are you guys using? I'm a newbie, still buying stuff.
I did but that was an aftermarket rock slider from rocky road outfitters. But I also agree lol. We all had baeofung radios. Like 30 a radio or something.
Red cone is NO JOKE... Cant tell you how many people that i know who have done it for the First time nearly shit Themselves on the descent. INCLUDING MYSELF !!!!! LOLOLOL...
I try, but it’s difficult to get Toyotas out with me. Jason from the Oxfoot channel helps me out, but my schedule is very erratic. I’m going to keep trying tho.
Yeah, but we may see his sweet new Gladiator, right? Unfortunately David’s FJ was stolen which is a big reason I won’t bring the liberty to Colorado till I can keep it safe.
I see you cats are really hamming it up for the video. Lots of wheel spin and getting hung up. Maybe that’s just a Jeep thing. Shoot we just did it in a full size pickup. Only hard thing is the pickup is a wide girl. A little tight in the trees. Also there was mud.
So does Sean have any issues with the 3 inchlift? I've heard the angle the 3 in lift puts the cv axel at makes it susceptible to damage? Any plans to upgrade to the stiletto rear control arm with lift?
@@coloradomallcrawlers no worries I just bought a trailhawk and stock it's been doing pretty good bit I definitely need just a little bit more clearance
Not really with the lift as far as I know. I have had to replace my rear cvs but I don't know how much of that is due to the overall abuse I've put it through, or the height. As far as I am aware , the stiletto rear arms only work as high as a 2 inch lift. If I was gonna buy anything from them , I would go for the rear diff skid plate 100 times over before anything else. If it didn't cost an arm and both legs for it. 😒
@@seanwatson3790 I've heard the angle it puts the cv at cause premature wear, I think mfc did a video on it when they were advertising the rcv axles. I think you can add a space to the gleaming alloy Arms I just hate how the stock ones fill up with mud and never come clean lol.
Hey guys that Cherokee that you guys trail ride with. We have a Cherokee latitude with the factory rack on top. Did he ever have issues with his roof top tent on the factory rack. I am nervous about but out 152 lbs 23zero tent on there. We normally car it on a Range Rover and sold it so now we only have Jeep. Any help would be great we are heading to expo east Friday and interstate driving from Florida to Virginia.
Here’s when he talked about his interior build out, but I think it was in the first one I linked. He talked specifically about the KL’s bars in one because he got conflicting information. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zAdykyyGqaE.html
Huh? If it’s about me responding to comments and liking posts, then let me explain. Not everything gets liked, and sometimes I ignore a negative comment instead of indulging. If people tell me they enjoyed the video or that it was good, it’ll get a like. If people provide useful info to others, it’ll get a like. If people praise someone in my video, it’ll get a like. To me, I’m thankful to people who take their time to comment. Also, to me, it’s not difficult to hit the like button. I’m a small RU-vidr, comments are easily managed at this time.
@@TheDiesel_JLU as long as I'm in 4 low and not being stupid 180 give or take. Nothing high. Only goes up a lot when I'm in high and climbing a lot which I tend to only do on the roads or the forest roads when I'm not climbing
@@seanwatson3790 makes sense, I'm normally in high and mine runs around 198, I start getting concerned when it goes around 208, I'll have to start dropping in 4low and see if that helps, thanks
NO !! It should NOT be a badge of honor trail !! If the make it a BOH trail every Texan and Californicator will come and run it and ruin it and it will become overused like all of the trails in Southwest Colorado have become.
It was mostly a joke about how it should be a badge of honor for Sean based on his experiences there. We don’t send anything to Jeep about adding trails to their badge of honor thing.
Dude dont blow up your favorite spots ... I know you want to help people have more fun outdoors. But dropping GPS coordinates is bad form. Give people general locations and tips. But let peoples sense of adventure take them there. Let people have the same experience you did.
These gps coordinates are in every guidebook made. I only provide GPS coordinates on how to get here, what you do from there is up to you. However, I’d definitely argue if you can get more people to care for these trails, then we might have a greater chance of keeping them.
