The F-117 was designed to absorb heat and distribute it across the body to avoid thermal detection. Also, it was designed in such a way to not only avoid radar detection, but also harder to see with your own eyes, if far away and at the correct angle. Stealth is technically a defense. The safest bomber is one that can’t be spotted in the first place.
I feel like this plane will boil down to this... Air-AB=dead on sight... Air RB=dead on sight... Ground RB= they don't ever see you at 35,000 feet dunkin' on half the enemy team... Sim= same, you are invisible and bombing airfields with impunity... It's a SIM grinder for sure... the only way you can find the thing in sim is to see it... and if you are playing a night game, its over for the enemy airfield...
I wonder if having the bomb bays open changes it's detectability. The only F-117 shot down was because the SAM operator turned it on at the exact moment the bomb bays were open.

In about another two decades or more, it'll be paving the way for the stealth fighters we have today, for example, the raptor would be first to get in I think since it's the oldest, but the F 35 could come first too since it's being exported

@@lantucker114 no it could not. as a matter of fact, there was a specific variant that was made FOR air to air ability. the Missiles that it could carry were only a test and even then it was more of an ad-hoc modification.
tbh it feels like Gaijin has jumped the shark with this one. rather annoying that they go this far for content but wont finish the old bomber models. (still don't have cockpits) oh and i bet there will be constant arguments over the stealth mechanic.
It just feels odd for this to be in 8.7, fighting along with aircrafts 30 years behind... Yes I get it, it's only carrying 2 bombs but still. Imagine a match of sabres and mig-15s, and then suddenly there's an F-117 stealth attack aircraft.
Hey @WeBeStronk just a little tip for the gps bombs, you dont need to put the retical over the target at all because they will pitch up to hit the target unlike laser guided bombs so they can be dropped a significant amount of distance from the target point and still reach it, hope this helps! 👍👍
I'm pretty sure the Nighthawk wasn't supersonic because it would require afterburners, and afterburners would 1) greatly increase thermal signature, 2) most likely mess up with the specially shaped engine nozzles of the F-117. I want the Handley Page Victor though.
Absolutely agree on allowing "useless" plane and vehicles in WT. They've admitted as much when it comes to the Sturmtiger, Tog 2, and now this how they're a novelty and not as practical. Having it as squadron vehicle as opposed to grind event is also appreciated, players can unlock it at their leisure. As far as stealth aspect goes for the F-117 IRST and contrast locking missiles seem to ignore it head on while everything else can lock from behind. I can see future stealth aircraft posing an issue balance wise (stealth fighter vs non stealth fighters) but we know Gaijin will add them eventually, maybe in a "balanced" state like the Brimstone missiles.

The only reason everyone remembers the hopeless diamond is because its been shot down. And it is has a fighter designation so lets not refer to it as a bomber as its classification by the USA AIR FORCE and USA Government as a fighter
The funny thing is that this thing is gonna either encounter things with no radar or very weak radar so this stealth helps out a lot with those since it’s gonna be 10.0
Gaijin should just give it a fog, like if you try to lock on to it, all you see is a blur of static and your radar lock locking everywhere but the nighthawk.
At 14:00 you got sot down by the LAV AD. This is probably due to the fact you had your bomb bay open increasing your radar cross section, making you more visible.
I'm going to treat it like a M109 and bring it into top tier because that's what it was designed for. Plus the f-117 can prob hold its own unless it gets to close and gets gunned
This aircraft should be given better stealth, as its not very effective as it stands and wouldn't even be able to bomb at all, however It would also be balanced by that fact that it is basically made of tissue paper and can't turn for shot and would be torn to bits by gunfire of likely any kind.
I still think it's just a test plane for more stealth jets like Eurofighter,f-22, f-35, su-57 and maybe b-2. Yes the Eurofighter has a slight stealth capability from the front.
I read it was because the US Airforce wanted to attract fighter pilots to operate it. Most fighter pilots see it as a demotion to transfer to a bomber.
Frankly, its a vanity item. It cant combat aircraft at its BR, its gimmick will hardly be usable at its BR, it can still be spotted by the mark 1 eyeball like every other plane, a lot of whats at its BR can catch it and it can't do anything to fight back let alone fly defensively because immediate flat spin, if uptiered the jamming will only work when flying head on which wont happen in most cases, in GRB all SPAAs will get a pretty easy lock because again it wont be flying directly at the battlezone.... There's just too many things that it CANT do, and what it can it doesnt get many chances to do so.
Gaijin should rank them based on date entered service instead of ranking them on how good they are. Everything should be allies vs axis unless a custom lobby. Js..
Crazy thing is this plane was made operational around 41 years ago, and retired in 2008 It feels new because of how advanced it was made back then, still being comparable to modern bomber designs now
I think it would be much better at 10k plus altitudes but to get up there in the first place is a waste of time like u said its just a bit of a gimmick
2:59 how does that have anything to do with sabers and mig 15s… they don’t have radars and only higher end sabers get missiles. It being a “stealth” bomber means nothing at this low of a br. Maybe the F3H will struggle cause it can use radar missiles

But do you want to be in a lobby full of planes that outpaces you at every moment. Do you want a 40g missile with irccm come at you and you having no counter? The ir sig may be reduced but I am fairly confident you’ll lose that battle 100% of the time.
@Pxslz you've definitely missed the point I was making 😂 I was stating that it being at 8.7 means that ironically, it won't be facing the radars it was designed to combat. I don't disagree that it'd get slammed... my point was is that the stealth plane can't use its stealth ability at 8.7.
the night hawk nesesitates putting a seperite keybing for operating the bomb bay door and droping bmbs as while the door are open the stealth is awfull
How are you even meant to spade this Will take ages and is a squadron loads of people won’t even have a ground line up for it and even if they did something like this would get slapped out the air by spaa if they notice that you are there and other than being a gremlin and dropping bombs on people as they repair in air rb what is this even for because even if it has the missiles it was proposed to have irl it would only have 2 be really slow and would have no ability to defend itself
