I think you're looking at this exclusively from a Destiny player's perspective. Warframe doesn't have endgame systems like a raid and it has been living for a long time with its repeatable missions etc. This game is waaaay more like Warframe than Destiny. I believe the biggest thing putting this game in danger is microtransactions but it seems they are taking the Warframe path which works. Regular content drops would be next but they have confirmed the rest of the year with a decent amount of content. Hopefully its not just really small drops but maybe Warframe level drops at least.
They're somewhat following Warframe's monetization. The lack of trading will be something people may say isn't a big deal, but it really takes a massive strain off of paying. Barely any, if any, other looter shooters have featured that and it baffles me why they haven't. EDIT: Saw they are working on a trading system, leaving my comment as is though to acknowledge the unintentional ignorance. All good.
The developer's history is what scares me more than anything. Unlike DE they don't have a great track record supporting their games, are heavy pay to win, and shut down servers as soon as they feel like they've made enough profit. Movement in this game also felt nothing close to Warframe's smoothness and flow.
@@x-invincible-z It actually wouldn't, but...Destiny players are insistent on parroting everything Bungie says, so...I don't blame you for taking that stance. Trading helps every loot based game that has it, without question. If certain things need to be kept as untradeable, rare rewards, fair enough. But just looking at how awfully implemented the exotic class items for Prismatic have gone...trading would've solved that problem. Would people have to do it if they preferred to farm? No. Would it mean the people who lost their patience could get the exact roll they wanted? Yes.
After playing the first test and the beta, it felt like a watered down Warframe with some bad elements from Anthem(namely the bland ass weapons) added in. At the end of the day it will probably just be better to play Warframe. It didn't have anywhere near the movement freedom or ability synergy that Warframe offers.
@@TeKnoVKNG23 watered down warframe? Does warframe have endgame content? Lmao. TFD is better off compared to D2 since both games are group content type. The only similarities wf and tfd has are the mods system. I know it sucks that warframe's update have been pointless and boring but cmon, dont be so obvious with the hate.. and thats coming from a 5k hour d2, 3k hour wf player. 😢 And seriously the only redeeming thing you could mention for warframe was the movement? Shiiiiii dude..
@@BlackRiverStudios 100% Agree with you here. I have 1.5K hours in WF and almost 1K in destiny. I love Warframe with a passion but there is not carrot at the end of the stick and I grind a good build out, do some steel path and any difficult content they realse, breeze through it and get bored until the next major update drops. I want a reason to grind so hopefully this game can scratch that itch.
As an avid warframe and destiny player, the modular system will come natural to WF players but take some getting used to for D2 players. All in all I'm excited!
This, this is the optimistic pov that more people need. It has a very similar modding system to warframe (which I'm totally fine with) and weapons like exotics. But I think pulling inspiration from great games and adding your own unique flair to a game is nice. The hero system is different to warframes, but has more life and personality to them. Which already make the game different. I think this might be a game that is for those who can't exactly find a balance between destiny and warframe.
@@anotherstruggler00 If I'm being honest, having played the betas for this...the Descendants' "personalities" was extremely surface. Their remarks during combat got extremely grating, they weren't written with much style, and frankly, it didn't add much. In fact, aside from hair and clothing, I can't even say they particularly look very different. One can make the argument that the Descendants looking more human, they're more relatable to people, and therefore, are more appealing. That's fair. Because Warframes aren't people, essentially armor suits, much of their personalities need to be demonstrated in look, idle animations, helmet style, etc.
I detest warframe because of many reasons, but when I played the beta for this game it was perfect. I couldn't have asked for more. Me and ma boys are hyped (also funnily enough it's in the same day as my mom's birthday)
@@lordgrub12345 Well, happy birthday Mom. Also, having played both, I find this game is pretty inferior for a multitude of reasons. But hopefully you enjoy it.
I don't really think it'd fall off. All looter shooters mainly try to copy Borderlands or Destiny, but this one is more so akin to Warframe, and so far, Warframe is pretty much the only one of its kind.
It's literally a korean warframe knock off lmao. If you thought destiny 2 monetization was horrendous, wait till you see what the koreans are gon put out.
For the people talking about the game saying it's a Nexon game and stuff. Yes it's free to play but everything in the game can be farmed expect some cosmetics which cost real money just like any other free 2 play game. So before judging a game just because its Nexon that made the game, I would suggest you play the game first to see if the pricing is fair or not, and so fair from what I have seen and hear about the pricing for cosmetic and in game currency bought with real money, it's actually fair pricing
For anyone wondering about potential microtransactions since it’s free to play. This company was sued and fined over $700k in 2018 for being deceptive about their microtransactions.
@@katunu6030 quite the opposite. They now know how to be deceptive and get away with it. Might not make that exact same mistake but they'll do the exact same shit but do it in a legal way next time/
They have mentioned in the roadmap that there are mini dungeons (what we have seen) and in October will be the release of the first 'mega dungeon' which I am guessing it like a raid Same as in warframe, modules have affinities. If a slot on your weapon/descendant has the same affinity putting the module in that slot will cost half the usual capacity of placing it in a non affinity slot. Putting one into a slot thats of a different affinity doubles the capacity cost Any and all attributes on a weapon can be rerolled if you dont like them. You dont have to refarm a new ultimate weapon if the one you get has crap attributes, you just reroll them
Not affinities, Polarities. Which I think is generally bad for build crafting. Forcing an item to play with 1 build and limit additional builds based on how many polarities you have at once. Say you have 8 slots, one build has 6Vs and another build has 5 Dashes, You quite literally are harming yourself making 1 good build because youve now doubled the cost for another mod in the other build. So unless its separate, its a bad system and will cause frustration.
The fuck are you on about? What strawman? And why do you assume I think Destiny has good build crafting...spoiler, I don't. My gripe is with polarities as a system. @@sc5the
@@sc5the Also learn what a strawman is. In no way did I argue against an argument let alone take one from you and misrepresent it. Miss me with that mis-understanding of the most well known fallacy.
I am so sick of Warframe dude the grind is fun I just don't have the drive to grind when I already clear everything they send at me with a one to two shot yk@@leomussio8926
It's sad when you got dudes who only cut their teeth in 1 game only and it's all they fucking compare it too the entire time. It's uncultured gamers in their bubbles because BEST BELIEVE if any of this stuff was in Destiny 2, he would be busting all over himself.
He'll adapt quick enough with the current state of Bungo. Or he just doubles down to be one of a few D2 Cc's left (as everyone else plays TFD)@@buddybarlow9604
If the ultimate versions of characters are similar to primes in Warframe then they’ll just have small bumps in base stats and an upgraded look. I’ve played everything in Warframe and realistically there is not much difference between the base version and the prime. Investment into the character is similar and their performance is too. As long as the method of obtaining descendants is fair and not greedy it should be fine. First Descendant is much more Warframe than Destiny imo. You’re inhabiting a character, 3rd person, free to play, and with modding for characters and weapons. If the devs are patient and listen to their core community similar to DE at Warframe…then the game has potential.
My biggest problem with primes in warframe is despite being similar it made normal varients feel disapointing and not worth grinding. If the primes not out yet ill just wit instead of fetting the regular since it feels like a waste of time.
@SamNo27 There's a reason they do that, though. For one thing, "if the Prime isn't our yet, i just wait" is a bad tactic, especially as the last batch of new Frames have been devastatingly good, and they're years away from getting Primes. The idea is that every base Frame is viable as they are, and Primes aren't necessary. Think of them like the shinies from Destiny Onslaught during ITL. They look better and it's nice to have a little extra (in the form of stats), but they're in no way required. Every Frame can handle just about every form of content if built well with the options available. Primes component blueprints being tradeable also plugs into making monetization better. It means friends/clans can help each other get new gear faster (by both farming OR trade, however players want). It's been 11 years for DE. They have that mastered for a reason.
@@SamNo27 That's fine, it's a very "play your way" type game. I'm mostly pointing out that, years ago for example, Orokin Reactors for Frames were hard to come by. So investing one in a new base Frame would potentially be a waste if you happen to get a Prime you'd rather invest in. Nowadays, Reactors are pretty easy to get from several sources. But that's a personal choice. If you'd rather wait, then wait. We'll have to see how much better Ultimates are here than normal Descendants. Since they can't be traded for or acquired easier, it'll be interesting to see how that factors into both monetization and gameplay.
The ultimate weapon portion you commented on. That end-game boss has a phase that can be cancelled early if you use a certain ultimate weapon to interrupt it. Its not required to defeat the boss it just makes it easier
from what i remember playing the betas, this game also has an account level system, based on total mastery of gear, so just like warframe maxing out base and prime (ultimate) give separate xp towards that account system, its natural to get the prime and forget the base, but you max both so you can maximize your gain in account systems
Does that go for weapons as well? Raising Mastery in Warframe tends to be a bit more predictable, as loot isn't showering down like it is in this game. I'm just curious if I'll need to save and level, say...every archetype of weaponry in order to get all the account mastery here. Wouldn't mind doing that, just wanted to know.
@@RedShadowOfSaturn in this game there are set weapons, lets say you get a smg called "scorpion", using one scorpion builds proficiency, this stat carries over to all of the scorpions you get from there
First Descendant already has far more fleshed out systems and endgame than Anthem or Outriders ever did though. I don't think this game is going to be mega popular but it should be a solid game with a steady player base unless they really fuck it up. The betas were fun.
@@snowdrifter6187 TBF to outriders, it was never going to be a live service game, the devs explicitly stated that fact well before it's release. it was meant to be a one and done with a DLC after the fact if it did well. (which it got)
11:54 they're 100% going the Warframe route with the modules The mods in Warframe work the same way, if you match the polarity of the mod with the polarity on the mod slot, then it discounts the space it costs from the overall capacity Yea Warframe players will be very familiar with this system
And will come to understand that polarities (If implemented in the same way) are bad for buildcrafting and should be a generic slot upgrade instead of a specific class upgrade.
Someone, PLEASE show cross the video they made that explicitly talked about their endgame plans. He kept bringing it up, and i wanted to yell through this video that they already discussed it prior!
Destiny players after paying $100 for an expansion + season pass, $20 for the dungeon pass, and another $100 for previous expansions so you can actually get all the games content: “Erm Nexon sometimes hides content behind a paywall, be weary gamers!”
I don’t understand why people constantly compare third person games to Destiny. I’m sure there’s some things it does similarly, but the core gameplay experience is completely different. It looks like a fun game and because it’s free I’m absolutely going to try it out, but I know beforehand that I won’t like it more than Destiny purely because it’s third person.
that's just how people who play Destiny are they are like o this game is a destiny and this game cross when the only thing it has in common is there looter shooters or have a class system in it, to be honest i think destiny players need to learn that not all the looter shooters are destiny not all will have the same crap as destiny
@@blackyvertigoI'll agree with you on that. Anthem nailed the movement and primer/detonator systems, but everything around those things dropped the ball so hard it registered in the Richter scale.
"A lot of devs..." Just say Bungie...it's ok, lol. My guess is it will scratch an itch for 2-3 months, then flop like everything else. The developer has a pretty bad track record and most of their games are heavy pay to win. I played the beta and enjoyed it for what it was, but couldn't help but have that feeling of "We have Warframe at home." It was like they took some Warframe stuff and combined it with some stuff with Anthem, the weapons are really bland and the grappling hook was slow and clunky in game despite the trailers showing this insane movement. Warframe still has the best 3rd person combat/movement system so again...I don't see the point of playing this over that, but will give it a shot and see if it can grab my attention since it's free. This game will not be a "Warframe Killer" as Cross puts it, lol. No chance.
I think a lot of its ability to have staying power is to capture some of Warframe’s magic. They will have to do regular good updates. Since it is free to play people are more likely to drop it because it cost nothing to buy
I didn't really hear about this game until the RU-vid ads began to pop up about it. Will give it a fair shake when it drops on Steam, as more games in the PvE Looter Shooter space like Destiny and Borderlands is good for the genre (if it's done well)
Build battles for this game would be hilariously fun Im so down for that EDIT: Also so in the Beta they did have giant "Raid like Bosses" you can defeat however they were just in a "giant grey room" much like you showed at the end of the video (which is meh af,kinda lazy imo cause it was like that in Beta, and seems to still be that way, just a Giant Boss in a Grey Room lmao but maybe not we shall see tomorrow) But I think they need to add full on Raids like with fully designed Levels/Rooms and Mechanics leading up to Encounters (like Destiny , since Warframe DOES NOT HAVE THIS, that could be HUGE for this game) They have been listening to playerbase (somewhat) lets hope they add Raids in the future much like Destiny! Lets ask them to and lets see what they do!
The most complete game will be! Everything can be acquired through gameplay....you all see the latest dev lanch note,,it will have trade option something that Destiny never even tried....and above all is free to play the whole game....I do not mind paying 10 E for battlepass and some skin maybe I like...on Destiny you PAY ALL CONTENT plus cosmetics...bungie 10 years now milked everyone with half baked dlcs like "Lightfall " which lost the half playerbase...TFD will be a very attractive change to Destiny players because for 10 years now they only play and grind....now pay nothing farm, grind ,raid bosses, dungeons, all free...and on Unreal 5.2 engine...which on next generation consoles plays 1440p 120fps....while Destiny does that only on pvp...to all Guardians out there try it....the builds are insane ... CROSS YOU HAVE THE WRONG VIDEO...SEE THE LAST ONE...ARE YOU KIDDING ME NOW😂...the last video explains everything....
It's a Korean game, so I already know everything about it. 1. Gibberish story with horrible localization and a personal grudge against lip syncing. 2. Everything is constantly so over the top that it becomes boring quickly. 3. It will somehow still feel like a mobile game despite not being on mobile. 4. Any fun content the game has will be walled off by either a cosmic shit ton of boring content or money.
@0:01 Re: Hype. The only reason I enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077 at launch (on PC) was because I didn't have a scrap of hype for it, it just looked interesting. Keep your expectations low, you'll never be disappointed.
@@Subsistence69 played both beta and both where ass you can do everything in the game in warframe but better 🤣🤣 100x more customization 100x movement 100x better building and crafting 100x better in general this game is litterally a knock off of warframe but worse in every way 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
If there's no PvP I don't play. Your first point is so fucking relevant. It also lowkey reminds me of The Division a bit, and I can't wait for The Division Heartland or TD3. If anyone whos readindg this comment finds out if there will be PvP please reply. Thanks.
So much of this is just directly lifted from Warframe lol. Mod(ules), mod slot polarity, Mastery Rank, cracking 'relics' for the parts to build the ultimate (prime) versions of the weapons and descendants, etc, etc.
This game isn't replacing Destiny 2 for me, it's replacing the Division 2. Ubisoft had their chance, for more than five years and blew it. I will gladly play and enjoy both, I'm pleased games are improving. I was thinking gaming was dying.
how can you say something you've never played is going to replace something else lol You have NO idea how this game will turn out. It might straight up not be playable on your computer. It might require P2W so abusive that you simply cannot afford to pay. It might have absolutely 0 content, like you'll only do the exact same mission a billion times over with 0 variation in mission design. There's so much that can go wrong to be able to say this will replace anything. A lot of these shooter type games come out. They all fail. Every single one. Destiny and Warframe are the only ones still around long-term out of tens, if not hundreds, that tried. 2 games. Even helldivers 2 which had amazing success at launch has completely killed itself in under 6 months because of Sony, even a super successful launch does not mean the game is sustainable long term. What you've said is just braindead
Lets be honest here: nobody thinks this is a destiny killer. It needs to earn its stripes. But it has the most potential of any launch in years and im here for it. We need more games in the Destiny realm.
What worries me is that they are gonna make us rely on ultimate equipment to beat this game or to even enjoy the game which they'll end up adding microtransactions for these said ultimate equipments.
I hope its decent enough to compete with Warframe and Destiny. Two games that I rotate daily but I do burn myself out after all seasonal content dries up. Please don't be like Outriders, Anthem and Wayfinder. I bought and played all of those sadly.
it would be interesting that the ultimate "heros" don't get an ultimate weapon and it is more based off there abilities like turning into water or just running lol. but then give the ultimate weapons to the legendary heroes you know so it gives them some range and maybe some build potential. where you know that would be kinda like exotics where there really good at one thing.
This game steps more into the domain of warframe but i feel like it wont be a solid competitor since one of the major factors i see when i play warframe is its just so optimized that even pretty old hardware can play it, while this game is pretty demanding.
Played the beta and it was fun but it’s repetitive and everyone just plays as bunny Hopefully a lot and I mean a *LOT* has changed to even dream of completing with destiny/ trying to board destiny players Like sure some will play it for a while especially the “f destiny it sucks” players but after like 2 weeks- a month we’ll be storming back to destiny It’s just too unique and can only be “beaten” by super niche games or gta6 but that’s in a completely different genre and idhk if destiny players are all that big into games like that I personally am tho I’ve been on destiny longer (cuz yes destiny is THAT good to me)
@@milk8979 it’s not that big a deal but it might be problematic in endgame if everyone is the same character I’m not the biggest fan of “hero” characters I like having my own but at least in this game it’s similar to classes and it’s not restricted to only one person being one hero (Like overwatch or cod bo4)
Beta last year was amazing and fun to build/explore/team up for big boss fights. I cant wait for tomorrow's release. Few of my Warframe clanmates/friends and i will be farming for sure
game looks okay... the big problem with it that I see (other than microtransactions, like others said) is that it won't have basically any sort of story and it won't have actual hard endgame content. Warframe suffered from the same problems at launch, and it still doesn't really have endgame content, except for one new weekly mission that's super difficult.
Im interested but I'm currently juggling warframe & destiny which I haven't done in years, literally on a schedule. Now I gotta squeeze this in to try it 😅
I had so much fun in the last beta, I cant wait to play the full game. Me and the homie made it our mission to finish every hard mode boss before it ended and we just barely edged it out 😂
its a game that took all the best parts of other looter shooters: destiny, warframe, the division 2. and amped up those features. lets just hope there is a decent end game.
Taking the best elements of existing games doesn't mean you'll have a good game. That almost never works. The best games are those who innovated and added their own flair to stand out from the rest. Copy pasting existing gameplay mechanics and enhancing them just makes the game feel terribly bland, like you've played it before and not in a good way.
WAAAAAAAY more Warframe than Destiny. As someone who plays and loves both, I see massive potential. PS; Warframe also has normal and ultimate (PRIME) “heroes”.
So basically all that's missing is to be able to combine your fire team and fight as Voltron. I'll take the missiles you control the power and buffs and John will slice him up with the very large mini guns. And we'll all swing our arms together in the end to slice them apart.
Just judging from your comments, you don't seem to have much experience with warframe, which this game is a 100% clone of. Sure there is some destiny flavors, but it is unabashedly warframe. For non warframe players this might seem like a huge grind fest but that gameplay loop is what's been keeping Warframe going for years. Coming at it from the perspective of a destiny player is probably going to disappoint you.
Every Descendant also had their own themes with ambient, low- and high-action variations (Valby's was great), I don't know if Warframe had this sort of music system.
It's kind of a small thing but I genuinely wish Cross would stop looking at every single live service, looter shooter, mmo or whatever equivalent as either "something like Destiny" or "the destiny killer". There's been way too many times he's gone into other games with this framing where it serves to only poison the well with how HE ultimately views the game or how he sways his viewers to view the game. & after a while it becomes unnecessary. A lot of these games are nothing like Destiny. Have no intention to be anything like Destiny. & are looking to enter a space that is nowhere near Destiny.
Ive played the game multiple times. The combat is lack luster and you only shoot regular guns. Idk why every looter shooter that comes around cant have unique gun design like Destiny.
My expectations are pretty low for this game. even with the beta last year I thought the mission structure was pretty bland. Hopefully they've improved that.
There's nothing that can kill a game but the devs. A new game that comes might be just like a game that already exists, but it's new, people that have been playing a game for years won't just drop it cuz a game that's kinda like it came out. Most of us will try the game forsure but let's be real if you been playing a game for years you will always go back to it.
Most of them that I did in this game were that way, yeah, what I played of it before very much felt like "What if Warframe but only the open world stuff that most of the player base isn't super hot on doing 24/7." Supposedly they added some new mission types, dungeons with modifiers, etc. Which sounds okay, but I don't consider "modifiers" to be enough variety.
That was one of the weak points for me when I played the beta was the open world missions. I read in some dev notes last year that they were gonna be beefing up that experience because of the player feedback so 🤞
Problem I had with the beta was there’s no enemies in the open world unless you start a mission there needs to be enemies and bosses that aren’t spawned by missions, it’s boring walking around a dead world with nothing to kill
2:20 I will say that I agree with most people here in the comments that this looks and feels FAR more like Warframe than Destiny. The more I learn about the game I actually think it's almost NOTHING like Destiny outside of it being a looter shooter. But much like Warframe you have an overall account level or "Mastery Level" identical to Warframe. Yes, as soon as you have Ultimate Ajax you would NEVER opt to use normal Ajax again. But leveling the base Ajax is going to give you XP towards your Mastery Level, and in the future when they drop new Descendants there won't be an Ultimate version off rip. But once they do receive and ultimate variant you would eventually retire your normal variant. This game seems very much; Looter Shooter Collector. Which is how I view Warframe, and I have a TON of time in Warframe and regret none of it. But we'll see what happens!
