For some silly reason I felt the need to head out in -30ºC and try some winter landscape photography with my Ricoh GR iii to see how it held up. It was cold but worthwhile. Taking in iconic locations in Banff national park like Vermilion Lakes and Cascade Ponds.

Without waterproof, I'm always afraid to use my GR3 when traveling in snowy country. Thanks for your sharing.

Respect for shooting this video! I feel like I need a DSLR with lots of big buttons for the -30s. When I used my phone to snap some photos of my dog at the off-leash area last weekend, I felt like I nearly lost my hand!

Oh I agree, bigger cameras are definitely better for that!

I'm surprised it worked at all. I was out around the same time as you. Had canon 80d which shrugged the cold off with ease. Not so my x100t. It managed 8 shots and shut down with low battery indication. Got back to the lodge. 30 min later had a look at the x100. It was fully charged!

I suppose one advantage of the Ricoh is it can live in your pocket when not in use! Maybe the body warmth keeps it going?

And I thought it was cold here. It's in the single digits Fahrenheit. Maybe Ricoh could get you to do a commercial. When it's -30C I use the Ricoh GR III. Stay warm, my friend.

Ha ha, you'll have to put in a good word for me! It was a feels like -45°C in Calgary last week!

Props to actually getting out during the polar vortex! As a Calgarian myself you definitely didn't catch me out shooting haha. But I always appreciate seeing how cameras/lenses are used and fare in conditions they aren't maybe inherently suited to, so this was an interesting video

Think I missed the really cold days but -30°c was cold enough!
