Thanks for the lovely visit, Boris. You made a gutsy decision to go so far north and it may work out for the top step of the podium. Whatever happens, you’re an amazing competitor and we support your efforts. It’s great to see Malizia generating her own apparent wind and slicing through the grey.

Boris, thanks for this reflective report of your "travel" up north and sharing these special moments with us, of whom most will never have the chance to see the ocean like you do! Also, hope rest will help you recover soon from your "flu" enabling you to hit it hard when the wind finally sets in. I keep my fingers crossed that your plan will work out in the end and Malizia firstly storms to a well deserved first win. However, Malizia and you already won so many hearts that whatever the finish will hold for you, you won already in categories beyond pure sailing. Keep it up and keep us posted. Best of luck.

Amazing impressions from the North Atlantic. One would think of wild seas and terrible storms but not of calm waters like a lake. Best wishes to you and soon some more wind to get you to a great downwind finish.

This reminded me on a couple of trips when we sailed around the world, it is so beautiful and peaceful when the sea is flat like that. Be glad your boat is still sailing in these light winds, our boat was just drifting at that point lol. Hope you feel better very soon! Get some rest and enjoy the moment of quiet! Fair winds ⛵️

This makes the race even more interesting .... really 3 groups per the tracker although you are group of 1 :). Also thank you for always educating on the uniqueness of where you are. I learned so much from your VG2020 videos about various islands, animals and the sea. Wir sind Teil der Natur und du nimmst uns immer auf spannende Weise mit und zeigst uns deine Eindrücke Vorort anschaulich. Ich drück die Daumen für die erfolgreiche Überfahrt nach Europa. Stay strong! This route still does not look too bad to me. As soon as the wind picks up again it seems to be a roller coaster ride down to Les Sables....my fingers are crossed! 🤙

It will be interesting to see the difference between the north route and the south route. With all the weather technology that is available, it is still a guess. I think the downwind run will be less stress on the boat. I'm betting the wind will arrive tomorrow morning. Have a nice dinner, think about your daughter's birthday and get some sleep.

This is great stuff you are showing us. I think that the weather/wind forecast on the tracker is off . It matches sometimes pretty good but others i think why is he going this way now. The wind doesn’t look like this is a good direction or that’s no even possible. Reality must be a little different from what we see on the website. Still I Love it all . Best of luck and don’t hit one of this boards floating around 😊

Hoffentlich zahlt es sich aus! Es kommt bald Rückenwind wo die anderen gegen den Wind kreuzen müssen.

Na, dann hoffen wir mal. So mit unter 5kn unterwegs zu sein, ist ja auch nicht der wahre Jacob. Laut Race Tracker verändert sich das System kaum in den nächsten Stunden (also: mühsam nährt sich das Eichhörnchen). Andererseits waren die Vorhersagen bisher alles andere als verlässlich. Charlie zu kriegen ist natürlich out of range, der wird das auf der Kreuz nach Hause fahren. Die südliche Gruppe ist fraglich, mal sehen, ob es da einige tatsächlich südllich der Azoren versuchen - die Gruppe um Beyou scheint das zu tun - und wie weit die da kommen. Ich glaube aber kaum, dass das fruchtet. Wer weiß? Interessant ist eigentlich die mittlere Gruppe. Wie weit kommen die noch ran? So groß ist der Unterschied zu den südlichen Booten nicht. Alles in allem viel spannender als erwartet.
